Bing? All the products that are advertised in Sony movies are Sony products. Except Bond movies.
TED delivered what is was supposed to which is laughs. It's not mind blowing but I doubt anyone was expecting that.

Okay, I'm turning in my man card and will add to Part of Me's box office total. Not today, though- maybe tomorrow.
I imagine they got a fair bit of money from MS for Bing.
Well I just lost 45 minutes of my time.
Did anyone see Savages? I was thinking about catching it after Spiderman yesterday, but I changed my mind at the last minute.

Beasts of the Southern Wild doing good! Too bad gotta wait til October to see it in UK.
What's the highest per theatre average for an indie movie?
Is Amazing Spider-Man as dull and formulaic as it looks?
Moonrise Kingdom. $130,752 average at 4 locations.

No, it´s a good movie.
No, it's fantastic.

For reference, Spider-man 3 made over $380M in its first weekend worldwide. ASM was a staggered release (with China and some smaller countries still waiting for the film), and Spider-man 3 was Day and date though. Subtracting holdover business from markets that opened last weekend, it is more like $290M + whatever China opens to for ASM vs Spider-man 3's $380M.
A bit of a disappointment actually. European grosses must be way down.
EDIT: And the $290M includes 6-day openings in a bunch of countries this week.

Obviously. but (ignoring marketing and distribution, and the bonus from product placement for a second) at $700 million worldwide, Sony would need to be taking less than 35% of the total gross to "break even" on that budget, which is ludicrous.
No one's expecting this to do Spiderman 3 numbers though.
SM3 was following up on the best reviewed entry in the franchise, with recognizable star power. The hype level for it was much higher.
This one is following up on a movie no one was thrilled with, with no-name actors and the public exit of the director that made the series. It's got a much higher hill to climb to put butts in seats.
I can't see how not hitting SM3's grosses is disappointing- it had too much going against it from the get go.
Yes. You have to try really hard to make Spider-Man "not fun", and they succeeded in that respect. Is Amazing Spider-Man as dull and formulaic as it looks?
$700M for a movie to make its money back seems insane to me.
Also, I thought Columbia wanted the reboot to cost around $120M after Spider-Man 3's budget exploded. No real stars in the cast, relatively unproven director and general lack of ambition in the CGI make me question why this movie was so expensive to make.
It really is. The rule of thumb is if BO is 2.5 times the budget, they typically turn a profit. If they need 700 mil, then their marketing budget must enormous.
Ha ha, split indeed. Sounds like it might be worth a rent.Theres a pretty big split on gaf about it. I enjoyed it.
It defnitely has issues but overall, I felt that they have the best Peter and Spidey here and am hoping the sequel irons out a lot of the complaints about ASM.
Rumors are around $200M production budget on Amazing, which would be around the same or a little less than the last two films. Marketing campaign would have been pricey, but the film also had a lot of product placement. Sony said they were hoping for $700M worldwide to break even on just theatre returns.

Who is this Piderman
I feel like Snow White is a bit of a disappointment. I'm not talking about losing money or anything, but I just mean I feel like it was going for the same audience as Alice in Wonderland. I feel like it was greenlit with the hope of being a 600mln+ breakout.
Savages didn't bomb. It's an R-rated crime film in July. It won't do Road To Perdition type business though due to mixed word of mouth.
Agreed. Wiki pegs the budget at $220 million (which seems about right to me) and $700 million WW to "break even" even by Hollywood Accounting measures just doesn't sound right.
Magic mikes budget is 7million? Somebody is making a shitload of money on that one.
Nicley done, Webb. Not Lord Whedon good, but still good.
ASM2 just needs to dethrone SM2 then all will be good in the world. Though I hear he's not coming back for the sequel, so yeahhhhhh
There's no fucking way that happens. Orshit and Worstman will make sure of that.
Ted seems to be the next Hangover. Seth McFarlane is going to have so much clout in Hollywood now.
DAT WEBBBwahahahaha. So much for that cheaper Spidey film they seemed like they were gunning for originally.
I'm Marvel Studios biggest detractor on GAF and I disagree, if ASM was a Marvel Studios flick it'd be the worst one.Tobor is crying right now at the thought of Marvel never getting Spiderman back. Which is a good thing because ASM is better than Marvels recent output.
I'm Marvel Studios biggest detractor on GAF and that's simply not true, if ASM was a Marvel Studios flick it'd be the worst one.
I think so.It's not worse than Iron Man 2 or Captain America.
I hope so. Part of Me's Tomatometer is still better than Piderman.Nah. It looks like she deserved better, based on the reviews.
