Amazing Spider-man is over $400M worldwide, and is sitting at around $165M domestically. Sony seems to think they can hit $800M worldwide. I think the movie has a decent chance at breaking $200M domestic this weekend. Considering its Tuesday opening, anything more than a 50% drop this weekend will be a sign of horrible legs.

This should be the last slow box office thread for awhile. Next week's thread will be taken over by TDKR when we get midnight numbers on Friday. Early theatre count estimate for TDK is 4375+. That will be slightly better than TDK, and better than the Avengers, but not a record. The last twilight movie opened in almost 100 more theatres.

Wow, Box Office GAF is dead this week :P

For the few people who care, Friday results are up:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/daily/chart/

1) Ice Age 4: $16.5M

2) Amazing Spider-man: $10.3M

3) Ted: $6.9M

4) Magic Mike: $3.4M

5) Brave: $3.3M

Ted is only down 35% from Friday. Amazing Spider-man is down 50%. Magic Mike had a good drop this Friday meaning $100M is a safe bet. Ice Age opening is just OK. I think it will be the lowest grossing movie in the franchise domestically. Brave Drop was pretty bad. It's still ahead of Wall-E though, and should end up in the $240-250M range.

Some weekend numbers:

Ice Age - $46M

Amazing Spider-man: $35M, $201M total

Ted: $22M, $159M total

Brave: $10.7M, $195M total

Magic Mike: $9M, $92M total

Moonrise Kingdom: $3.6M, $32M total

To Rome: $2.5M, $9M total

IA took most of the 3d screens in my local, not sure if that's been replicated elsewhere though.

Not surprised by ASM fall, went to watch it in 2d lat night and the theater was virtually empty. Counted 7 people in all, two left before the movie even finished, one dick wasn't even watching the movie and was instead fiddling with this phone for nearly the entire movie.

Can't help but feel sorry for Garfield and co, it's a good movie and everyone gives a great performance but the general reception has been very muted.

What are you think about? It's actually a good fall for TSAM (Unless you were expecting it to remain number one, which most people wouldn't have looking at it's run up until now).

Is that low or high for IA4? I never really followed those movies. I'm guessing they are big OS, but what about domestic?

This just in, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN had one of the best superhero holds of all-time--down just -44% w/ $35M and now $200.9M total.

Ice Age 4 had the the worse start of the franchise since the first movie. Ice Age 3 opened on a Wednesday or Thursday so it's weekend total was about the same, but its legs will be a lot better. Ice Age 2 opened in the high 60M range.

I think Ice Age 4 will finish around $150M where the previous two movies were just under $200M.

Amazing Spider-man's drop was decent. It needed a 40-something percent drop though, considering it was a Tuesday opener. The movie will have between $215M and 220M in the bank before TDKR lands. It should still get to $250M domestically. I am not sure if it will go any further than that though.

@ERCboxoffice

SPIDER-MAN netted $66.6M internationally, bringing its total to $320.5M and $521.4M worldwide. Ah-mazing.

Sony is predicting $800 million WW. It could make it but it will be close.
