EVO 2012 Thread 2 Because one thread wasnt enough to hold all the hype and the salt

I hope US players go home and feel like shit. We got our shit pushed in on almost all fronts.

What? US did well in the games we expected to do well, and didn't in the games we normally don't do well in. AE was rough but still had two in top 8 and a decent amount in top 32.

EVO 2013

UMvC3
SSF4AE
KOF13
Dead or Alive
Injustice
TTT2
Probably

Replace DOA with VF5. Skullgirls is gonna get the cold shoulder. I just know it. ;_;
Some of you guys are nuts questioning whether AE will be on the lineup next year.

Marvel might become the main game, but AE will still be there. They aren't going to say "oh, Top 8 wasn't hype so let's not add it" despite it having the most competitors if I'm not mistaken. Pool play/Top 32 wasn't bad at all either.
WTF

Are people actually arguing that SFIV might not be on the main lineup? That's freaking nuts. Mahvel really should be the main game by now though.

Define better? The way I see it, we got bodied .. Hard

1. WW|Infiltration (Akuma)
2. AVM|GamerBee (Adon)
3. CVPR|PR Balrog (Balrog)
4. eLive|Xiaohai (Cammy)
5. MCZ|Daigo (Ryu)
5. HumanBomb (Sakura)
7. BT|Dieminion (Guile)
7. TH|Poongko (Seth)

9. Kindevu (Cammy)
9. Haitani (Makoto)

9. RZR|Fuudo (Fei Long)
9. Dogura (M. Bison)
13. DMG|iPeru (El Fuerte)
13. Kyabetsu (C. Viper)
13. coL.cc|Mike Ross (E. Honda)
13. EG|Justin Wong (Rufus)

17. WW|Ryan Hart
17. DRS|Chris. (Ken)
17. Hsien Chang (Yun)
17. Hori|Sako (Ibuki)
17. John Choi (Ryu)
17. TH|Mov (Ken)
17. Uryo (Sakura, C. Viper)
17. Haz

In Top 8, there were two Americans. One of them beat Human Bomb.

Japan had only Daigo in Top 8. He just lost two matches.

I think he's referring to this:

1. WW.MCZ|Infiltration (Akuma)
2. AVerMedia|Gamerbee (Adon)
3. CVPR|PR Balrog (Balrog)
4. eLivePro.Qanba|XiaoHai (Cammy)
5. MCZ|Daigo Umehara (Ryu)
5. Human Bomb (Sakura)
7. BT|Dieminion (Guile)
7. TH|Poongko (Seth)

9. Kindevu (Cammy)
9. Haitani (Makoto)
9. RZR|Fuudo (Fei Long)
9. Dogura (M. Bison)

That's just spin though. US made a good showing. Not having Uryo, Sako, Mago, or Momochi up there at least in top 16 is really impressive.

I'm excited for KOF next year. I wonder if more players will pick it up and those that already have will take it more seriously.

I'd also like to see P4A as a main event. I think EVO needs some new and different blood in it. Marvel and AE are great, but AE seems to have peaked recently and I think we're going to see its descent. It's not going anywhere soon, it's just on its way out. People have been finding new and interesting things with Marvel but I think it'll probably reach its peak in a few years.

How? More people play SF4 than marvel. It literally doesn't make any sense for Marvel to be the main game over AE.

There's only one fighting game better than GG and it sure as hell ain't P4A.

Do tell.

this, if they go that late next year im tuning out. im tired.

I think that's partially why AE's top 8 has rubbed people wrong this year. I'm on the East Coast and it didn't even start until 1:30 AM. Now, I'm not against staying up late, but if that's the case then at least give me something good. What we got, though...nah I'm good.

Everyone requesting VF5 next year... KEEP AT OIT! I also cordially invite you here and help get some GAF sessions on board. I'm tired of playing Ranked all day.

It's crazy that SFxT is SO BAD that it actually drained all the hype out of AE. All the guys Capcom hoped would make the jump to SFxT ended up going back to AE, but you could just tell people were bummed about having to be forced into that. No real new tech, top players giving up for the rest of the set after getting steamrolled in the first match, kinda sad to see.

Like I said before, once it got past pools everyone, even the people playing, seemed disinterested in not really wanting to be there, particularly after Daigo and Poongko got steamrolled.

No way in hell DoA5 will make it to Evo. Only an act of god would get some of the fighting game playerbase to jump on "Tits or Ass" after it's revamp.
Though, given that some people are starting to turn into hype after the trailers it could be possible
. As much as I want it to.

Just pop in to freestepdodge and look at the e3 thread. There is heavy debate from within their own community and very known names in the community are saying this game is utter trash competitively at the moment.

here are some quotes

I guarantee you that the E3 build of DOA5 would not see any better tournament life than DOA4. It's a huge improvement, but it's not quite there yet. Your suggestions are a big step backward and would only hurt the potential tournament life of DOA5. The reaction to your article should make that clear.
dr.dogg

I'll still hold out that enough of my suggestions make it in so that we can possibly still get a competitive DOA5, but if your statement is correct, my hope dropped significantly. If it turns out like you're saying, the competitive scene won't last through the end of the year and I certainly won't be playing it.

Oh well, at least I have other games to play. Enjoy your 10-man tournaments and 70-player Evo... if it even makes it to Evo.
dr.dogg

Unless DOA 5 gets a massive overhaul between the demo and release, you don't want me exposing your game.

They would sell far more copies through deception, lies, and general ignorance.

I know skilletor is a gaffer, so maybe he can shed some light in terms of competitive doa5. Maybe I got the whole thing wrong (hopefully)

I see there are some on the thread missed the ST stream based on the rankings. Any one gets a chance, watch it. I ranked it in the top 2 with KOF.

the best was when they got the trophies for winning. all of them looked embarrassed and didn't give a shit.

No one aims for Top 32.

Why shouldn't we do well in other games? Why shouldn't we take KOF? Why shouldn't we compete in VF? Yeah, we got Marvel, but even that is slowly gaining ground in other places. If the Koreans looked to it like they did KO, who knows what would happen.

Why aren't we pushing for better? Are we sending people to Tougeki for shits and giggles or to win?

This right here is some bullshit. I can say with respect to SSF4 we're pretty much on Japanese level. We didn't lose shit for free. Marvel, we got that locked.

Pretty much this. The best SF4 players are generally all on the same level. Tournaments do not determine who is the better player. Eita, one of the best akuma in the world didn't get top 32, a player that won Shadowloo showdown and was favorite for top 8.

I'm just saying that historically we haven't been a major force in KOF, perhaps from lack of interest.

As far as 3D, that has been Korean dominated for many years. This includes Tekken, VF, and SC. I would say that is also lack of interest when it comes to VF and just not having access to the game in a decent time period with Tekken.

Yeah, I bet on this much.
Though if Injustice doesn't deliver on "hype"/views, how likely is it that WB would dish out even more money to try again with it?

Hype will be manufactured through pot bonuses, same way it worked with MK. WB/Netherrealm has already said they are looking to make Injustice big in the tournament scene. Plus the MK community has been doing a great job keeping their scene strong and seem interested in Injustice.

Actually I got the sense that the current form is fine, but DoaMaster wants some unpopular changes implemented and the others are concerned that TN might take his advice given his performance at E3 and past performances in DoA4.

Iono, from what I read it heard the current form while it is an improvement is nowhere close to being competitive.

Also big fears about Hayashi. They think if Hayshi wants something changed he will do it and circumvent the director of DOA5.

i know all of you have been waiting for that glorious vampire savior, here is top 8.

Sako vs Mighty mar

Diar vs Tenkar

Dyne vs B-izm

the other ones are being upload right now.

Watching that first Sako vs. Mar match, do perfects even happen in Vampire Saviour? Sako dominated without getting one but it really made me realize that I've never seen someone perfected in that game before. :lol

Vampire savior and SF3 have the best FG music I've ever heard. the building stage music in vampire savior gets me every time.

Seriously. I am very fond of Revenger's Roost from the Vampire side of things, even though that one's from the PSP re-release IIRC.

I think the only games a lock for EVO next year are AE, UMvC3, TTT2 and KoF. Everything else is game. The only game I could rule out entirely is SFxTK.

Because VF was never popular in the US and KoF didn't start getting played till less than a year ago?

It's like asking why China doesn't dominate in Marvel

America did do well in nearly every game at Evo. The game we did worst in was VF5 which is barely even played here. In the past year Americans have competed with and beat some of the best players in KoF and SFAE.

Korea is just hot right now, but they aren't on some unbeatable level and the US will catch up with them soon in AE.

and by Korea you mean Infiltration.

I meant KoF as well, but as far as AE goes Infil did have the best performance this weekend. The only other Korean in top 8 was Poongko right?

Yeah. The only other notable Korean AE players are Laugh and Cafeid M Lizard who I don't think attended. In Kof although Korea took the tourney the top 8 was spread out between Koreans Mexicans and Americans.

How was the Skullgirls side tourny? I missed that, any link for it?

And I totally forgot how awesome was I Wanna be the Guy: Gaiden. So much fun that night.

Trolling Triforce last night in his stream killed me last night. Good times.
