You know how on the freeway you sometimes see cars with new body kits that haven't been painted yet?

This looks like that.

The suit comes from his bones. It's formed by nanomachines, can regenerate itself, takes seconds to reboot (practically unaffected by EMPs), etc. He can also make specific parts of his suit appear so he can choose to only have Iron Man's arm materialize so that he can blast someone. And since the suit is connected to his nervous system and brain (iirc), he has super-human intelligence and reflexes.
Nanomachines? LO fuckin' L!

God bless Shane Black.

6:26

Agent M: Montage time. Lots of destruction and Tony looking worried. Iron Patriot armor. Nasty looking villain. The 10 rings. Tony's house. Helicopters firing missles at Stark's house. HOLY Sd;slfkansd;lfkhas;ldkfja'sdlkf

6:27

Agent M: Destruction everywhere. Iron Man getting buried underwater

6:28

Agent M: There's a voiceover. "As you cry out for mercy, you will be silenced." Showing the Iron Man 3logo. OH SNAP. Ben Kingsley. The Mandarin?!

Is this one going to actually have a boss fight rather than just "hey let's do that thing we did at the party when I was really drunk War Machine." "Okay."

I'll be honest, that's the only thing I hated about IM2. Everything else was aight. Particularly the drone battle right before that.

Which was, in turn an improvement on the final fight sequence in IM1. Hopefully they can actually have a great final fight by the third time around.

I'll be honest - I preferred the end battle in IM1 to the one in IM2.

But I'm also hoping the third one is great. But it's fucking Mandarin, so how could it not be?

Too much white, no thanks. It's OK as a variant. I just wouldn't want to see it as the movie's main suit design.

I dislike the abundant gold, but the overall design is great. In a way it's nice to see an armor breaking the mold, but the gold... hugh

Pure speculation here but Extremis armour is formed from the hollows of Stark's bones at will.

You've pretty much explained why I simply don't care about most American comics, because they seem to always go to horrifically stupid extremes such as this. And it's, on the other hand, while I can usually enjoy movies based on comics—because they tend to filter out the most ridiculous stuff like that.

So can nano machines form liquids as well? I'm assuming the suits contain hydraulics and WD40 and other fluids. Where do the liquids come from?

It doesn't use Hydrolics, WD40 or motors lol..

Extremis is a formula comprised of nano-machines that allow him to build his suit of armor at will... and control electronics at a certain degree.

EDIT: not to mention the things the Iron Man suit can normally do.

and yes.. the electronics within extremis are kept and stored his bones in the form of nano-machines.. making Tony Stark a cyborg.

EDIT 2: I wish we could've got the extremis armor back in number 2 along with the armor wars storyline.. so that 3 could have both tony's drinking habit and the bleeding edge armor.

EDIT: I forgot about how Extremis allowed Tony to rebuild his body's tissue and organs after the evil dude managed to beat Tony to pulp.

I thought the essential electronics of Extremis was stored in his bones while the armor itself was still required. He needed the "connection" between him and the suit that way to be fast enough to defeat the villain.

To clear things up:

Extremis - Nanomachines under his skin that come out and form golden underbody of the suit from which the rest of the suit magnetizes to. Suit not stored within his bones etc. Even from the description of the IM3 trailer, the suit formed around RDJ's body.

Bleeding Edge - All of the above except suit is stored within his bones as well, and is more efficient, responsive, and can do whacky Green Lantern-ish shit with his repulsar tech.

Also, Extremis also rewrote his body too IIRC, building new organs, etc. to allow Tony to link with his suit easier and allowing for him to be capable of doing this stuff. It's much more than just a suit upgrade. Bleeding Edge is the stupidest shit though, I hope that never comes to MCU.

So u saying there isn't a single drop of liquid in the suit? No coolant or anything?

Bleeding Edge armor is basically godlike.. giving him the powers of Magneto along with what you said.. not to mention the stuff of Extremis..

The We <3 Tony Fanclub is open for everyone. :)

and... no.. no coolant.

I wish I could go back in time and shoot whoever came up with this idea, if only for how often it's misused in fiction.

K. Eric Drexler is your man. You'll want to take him out some time in the very early 1980's. If you want to make sure nobody else comes up with the idea in his place, then you're going to have to add Richard Feynman to the list and take him out prior to 1959. Happy hunting.

This is pretty low on the list of reasons why Extremist armor is some of the fucking dumbest shit ever.

I'm just glad the film is going to have the Mandarin as the Mandarin, none of this "Mandarin as an organisation" or whatever. Kingsley is just going to be the Mandarin from the comics, straight up, costume and rings and all, judging from the liveblogs of the panel.

I think they're energized after The Avengers did gangbusters and also that Thor and Asgard (which could have gone horribly wrong) worked on screen and was received well, and now are not afraid to do more outlandish concepts in the films (like Iron Man just facing other guys in suits in the first two films, etc).

Man that's ugly. It strikes me that the new director wanted to put his own fingerprints on it and had them reverse the coloring but it just doesn't work.
