I personally think the silver looks pretty slick. If I were going to purchase a 3DS XL, I would choose either the blue or the silver.

One good thing about the blue too is how it matches with the power LED. Therefore it isn't going to stick out like it will on other color models.

Overall, my opinion of the blue completely changed after seeing actual pictures & videos of it. The shiny metallic shade of blue is nice.

Blue is my favorite color too but in the original pics Nintendo showed, the blue looked so pale, flat, and dull that even I didn't like it at first (didn't like it at all).

It looks functional, which is fine, but I don't know that I'd say it's very attractive. Probably the main issue is that it has so many asymmetrical features.

Compare it to the DS Lite, which is a very similar design, but with much more symmetry.

This is a good point indeed. I remember falling in love with DS Lite - everything seemed just so perfect, I couldn't name a flaw.

Agree 100%. I hope whatever Nintendo goes with for the true 3DS revision at least has matching width screens even if they forego adding the 2nd stick.

I understand the difference, but GBA games stretched out on the PSP look okay to me for some reason. It's a shame that I won't be able to do the same on the Xl. I'll still end up buying it though.

I totally understand the reasoning behind it though (DS backcomp and room around the lower screen for controls) but I still hope they change it at some point.

I still remember when the leaked prototype hit the web and I said that there was no way that Nintendo would release something that looked like... that. I was wrong but the 3DS is still a great enough gaming system to make me overlook its design.

Well a lot of people have mentioned how much more vibrant the colors are on the new screen so that could be a by-product of the anti-reflection coating making the screen less washed out.

The fact that the way DS/3DS is constructed it looks like a bunch of pieces were thoughtlessly thrown together. Jobs was all about aesthetically pleasing designs. Thus the unibody design of their computers. Nintendo could go with a unibody design, but it would cost more money and we all know how they are about money. To say their hardware is attractive is just...no. Just no.

I know, maybe I mispoke: I'd like both the additional circle pad and extended battery. I also seemed to have misunderstood Nyko's products. Apparently, the Power Grip Pro releasing this October (so long away) adds both the battery life and the extra circle pad.

I really do want the XL, my hands cramp and hurt like hell when playing 3DS, maybe I need to get used to it, but I am just so mad at the idea of selling my 3DS for cheap and having to spend around $100 to upgrade.

Realistically, how much would a 3DS go for used? I could sell it to one of my friends I guess, but at best I'd charge $100, maybe $15 for Mario Kart.... And then I'd need a lot more to get the XL.

Of course there will be shell replacements for the XL, it's only a matter of time. It's as easy as making a mold of the original shell and mass producing it.

I really don't think you do understand. The aspect ratio of a DS game compared to a 3DS game is a lot different than that of the PSP vs GBA. A DS game stretched on the 3DS would look like an original gameboy or gameboy color game stretched on the GBA which you can actually do and it looks pretty awful.
