Going to see this movie for the 3rd time on Tuesday night. Hoping to convince the wife to see the IMAX version of it, but she is worried about getting head aches from the imax screen.

How long do you guys think till this movie hits Blu-Ray?

The fight happening in the light was great, I never noticed that before.

So did anyone feel the adrenaline pumping when those cops charged the mercenaries? I don't know what it was about that scene, the personification of good vs evil, but it was just so jaw dropping for some reason.

Yup yup, because they knew that most of them were marching into inevitable death. The mercs had tanks and they didn't. Then the Bat swooped down and took out the tanks, they knew they were in business.

Just came back from watching it. Really, really liked the movie! Not as good as TDK but its kinda hard to follow Joker/Two Face. Christain Bale played a stronger role as Batman more than BB. I felt like he was a main character much more in this one than in TDK. That may due to an average performance by Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. She wasn't as strong or quirker as she should have been. Bane had a very strong presense but I kinda feel like they needed 2 villains for the movie. Riddler or Poison Ivy would've been great.

And.... I gotta say that ppl being dead or MIA is irritating. No mention of Joker. Two Face(Harvey Dent) dead by an injury that didn't seem fatal in TDK. Bane is supposedly dead(though you don't get to see him blown up due to rating). Scarecrow had a weird mini-role as Judge during the crisis. Overall, the film is not as good as TDK due to a weaker cast of villains and average performance of Catwoman. Its better than TDK in strength of Batman/Bruce Wayne character/development and musical score. Its on par with TDK with everything else including Gotham City crisis presentation and comedy(supporting character comedy). I also think the 2 lead Inception characters(Robin and Talia) kept with tradition well and helped round out the movie.

A little off topic but Christopher Nolan directing Superman was a niceeeeee preview

Almost positive they're still cutting to him flying the Batplane after that. Maybe I'm wrong though.
Yea, he's still in The Bat. They show him flying off, then a really long scene of him thinking about staying in The Bat, kind of smirking, and then it cuts to the timer counting down to five secs.

they do cut to him after but its a lie/ edit trick

like when some spy is trying to crack a safe in a room in a movie and the bad guys open the door to the room with the safe and when the camera pans over to the safe it's already open and the spy is nowhere to be found

I'm sure it has been mentioned, but I liked the Killer Croc shout out. After they found Grodon they mentioned something about a giant alligator in the sewer.

I never saw Batman Begins and I have basically no background knowledge of Batman; I really appreciated them taking a few seconds to give context to the characters that did not appear in The Dark Knight.

Amazing movie, by the way. I have few complaints.

lol

The only thing I disliked about the whole thing was that his name was Robin... that was just incredibly dumb. He should have just said his real name was Richard Grayson and those few people who didn't know who that was could have turned to their friends after the movie and found out.

You'd be surprised how many people who have watched Nolan's Batman Trilogy have never read the comics before.

They wouldnt even care to ask who Dick Grayson is on the first place.

You should go see Batman Begins :)

Kind of weird how, for being such a TDK fan, its apparent you haven't watched the end where they have a Dent funeral in a long time, one that's continued at the beginning of this move almost 1:1.

He crushed a dude's face

Didn't do much for me personally. Bane's neck snaps were cool but you don't need super human strength for that.

I would've liked to see Bane do more "extreme" villainous stuff like maybe lifting someone over his head and tossing them off a bridge or whatever. Stuff that showed how strong he was. All the bombs and stuff were technically huge large scale attacks, but anybody could've pressed the trigger on a detonator. I was expecting to see a lot more physical stuff.

Like lifting someone over his head and then throwing them down against his knee? Like breaking Batman?!

it wasnt that he was super strong in this

it was more that he felt no pain

chalk it up to the more realistic take of the Nolan-verse

He choked a dude by grabbing his throat, not his neck. His throat. He also hung some bodies on a bridge...he was mad villainous.

How about lifting Batman with his full gear above his head and breaking his back? Is that villanous enough for ya? :D

They are, but they dont show any surrounding during that scene, whereas everywhere else they show the buildings. Most likely it's not chronologically followed.

A lot of sequences weren't.

Agreed, it was deliberate misdirection to make the viewer think he was still in the Bat and there was no way he could escape.

Also, anyone catch what Bane said before he choked the federal agent with his leg?

I saw the funeral. Its just that his injury didn't seem enough to fatally kill him

What's your attitude problem? Don't spoil my mood

Yeah that was a great display of Bane's power, I said in an earlier post those two fight scenes with Batman were the most menacing parts. I was just kinda hoping for more of that stuff.

No, that doesn't make any sense. Those kinds of tricks are still chronologically consistent, you're just supposed to assume that there was a longer gap in time between the last cut to the "safecracker" and the thugs busting in the room. The editing trick doesn't go back in time to shots that aren't happening any more.

Also, that strobe-shot of Batman rushing toward the camera better show up here as a banned.gif with Bish's head as soon as is humanly possible.

I wish he made more badass poses during that moment... I need to see it again, but it struck me as goofy...

Or something for when someone gets a unflattering tag....

"Why didn't you just ban me?" "Your punishment must be more severe." From the corresponding scene.

this this this this

Bane is an efficient guy. Other than Batman, there wasn't anyone that he had particular hatred for or needed such effort to kill them.

I love love love when batman and catwoman go into the tunnels and they totally just knock out some fools. Them two were a great duo.

Also, batman did die guys...dunno what movie you saw :P

I didn't quite catch the part where Catwoman saw someone then suddenly turned around and ran. That was weird.

I think the agent said that he rather die than talk and Bane said something in the lines of making it quick or making sure he doesn't. Don't remember the exact line.

The agent said he would die before he talks. Then Bane said he agrees or something similar then proceeds to kill him.

He's behind you
Who?
Me!

Also, did Talia and Bane have an escape plan or were they just going down with the ship?

wait...does Batman have the "no killing" rule in the comics as well?

cuz I remember in a comic strip people link on here of him beating the living shit out of Superman saying something in the line of Supes not being able to do what is necessary

I think he said something like " we're on the same schedule then"

Definitely the most obscured Bane line for me.

She anticipated that one of the thugs ahead would run around that corner so she strategically placed herself to deliver that roundhouse kick.

maybe i missed it but how does anyone know Bruce Wayne is dead? Obviously alfred and company do, but how do they inact his will? Alfred just says "hey, bruce died, we dont have a body, dont ask any questions)

Why?

I don't understand. Why is it so important for Batman to die?

Because they build up this huge emotional climax and then like a cartoon 'no, Batman didn't die after all, lol'. Also, it'd show something about the Batman character, that he was willing to die for the order & peace he believed in, but 'nope invincible superhero, you don't even need that 'everyone can be batman' thing, not even important, only one batman bitches!'

Well my line of thinking is that Bane could've killed people in crazy over-the-top ways and made it seem effortless due to how powerful he is (tossing someone like a ragdoll for instance).

But I guess you're right.

Then why did they show him in the Bat 5 seconds before it blew?

my friend and I was discussing this on the way home. She talked about how they had a close up of Bats a few seconds before the explosion. If i remember correctly, wasn't it "extremely" closed up where there was nothing else in the shot BUT Bats? like they didn't show the cockpit or anything

No one is gonna ask to see Bruce's body. That's overthinking. Not only that, having Gordon back you only helps.

Who said Bruce Wayne is dead? He's not.

Edit: oh you mean people of Gotham. Well, there is no body to be found. Nuke explosions!

I also liked Bane's line in the opening sequence about how his life began when he put on the mask. it was a good parallel to Batman. And when Bane was holding on to the doctor as the plane flew was just like when Batman kidnapped Lao in TDR.

They are cut from the same cloth. Just chose different paths.

Yes! Very good parallelism there.

"Nobody cares who I was until I put on this mask."

Bane is who Ras Al Ghul wanted Bruce to be: a loyal servant.
