Does anyone in the UK know who if any of the high street stores will be launching on Friday? My local independent isn't carrying it and both GAME and Gamestation are gone from my city centre. Pretty much depending on Blockbuster and HMV and hoping one of them bites on Friday.

I can't wait for pics and videos! Maybe someone will convince me to dive into a red or blue system :p

They will be sure to make me extremely jealous of the Japanese, that's for sure :(

Blockbuster are definitely launching on Friday.

Double Woohoo! Zavvi honoured my discount code and sent it today, which is odd as it's Zavvi...

Feels bad living in NA right now. I really can't wait to get my hands on this thing since I already got games for it that I want to play.

I'm not sure if upgrading right away or buying KH + Mario... decisions decisions oh well I have plenty of time todecide as I'm in America. Thanks NOA!

OK, I have a query about 3DS system transfers which I cant find the answer to...

Is it possible to transfer just the 3DS ambassador status and games from one 3DS to another? I have a friend who is thinking of selling his launch console, and they have said I can have their ambassador status/games beforehand. However I dont want all his system data (Activity Log, Streetpasses, etc) to overwrite my own data.

Any ideas?

There's no way, it's a full system clone or nothing.

So I tried out my friend's blue DSi XL today. I think I've made a mistake of buying the 3DS XL. Pokemon looks so fucking good on the DSi XL compared to my 3DS. I'm actually horrified how gross it'll look blown up on the 3DS XL. Considering the main 2 games I play on a handheld are Pokemon and Animal Crossing (which isn't out until next year) I'm thinking of going and transferring over my preorder into GS store credit (or a full refund) and getting a bronze DSi XL. Then I'd get the 3DS XL when Animal Crossing comes out, and there will be more colors.

EDIT: To whoever in Europe/Japan who got theirs, could they possibly take some high quality pictures of it running DS games in full screen mode? Preferably with a DSi or DSi XL beside as comparison.

I asked to try one at GAME today it feels really nice. Then I change my amazon.it order delivery to express, then I changed it back to normal.
I lent my old 3ds to a friend months ago this XL is a great time to rediscover the 3d.

The only thing that worries me about the XL is that it is going to push the vita even futher out of place. And I really want it to succeed

But if you run DS games in non stretched mode on the 3DS XL it will be about the same size as on a normal DS.

Absolutely impossible, ambassador status is linked to the Club Nintendo account and console. The system transfer is a cut and paste process with no customisation to speak of.

Full copy or nothing, unless you are willing to accept your data being overwritten, and your friend is willing to hand over his Club Nintendo account details on a permanent basis so you get your ambassador games.

Hopefully there will be an extended battery for the 3DS XL, like there was for the regular one, where I got 15+ hours of gameplay with maximum 3D turned on. I won't buy any portable gaming device which can't hold 10+ hours of gameplay.

I have a question that's a bit related to that.

I already have a 3DS with ambassador stuff, yadayada. I plan on getting a 3DSXL and "copy" the content of the original into the XL. Also, I plan on buying NSMB2 digital to be able to play it on both machines.

So... I buy games for my 2 PSPs on the same account so both systems have the games, same thing for my iPhones. Can I expect the same thing on 3DS? Anyone knows?

No, games are tied to console.

Whats the problem with sticking it in the charger? You can't possibly play it for 10 hours straight. Hell most of the 3DS games aren't even 10 hours long.

Games are tied to a console, but an account system should be coming soon. We're just gonna have to wait and see if something like PSN or iOS cross system compatibility comes to 3DS.

Yeah, I just found that you can use the 3DS transfer utility but the source 3DS will be back to factory defaults.

Hopefully an account system will resolve that.

if you want the best platform to JUST play DS games, specifically Pokemon on, then yes the DSi XL is by far your best choice and will be for some time, there is no doubt about that. But just imagine how good Pokemon 3DS will look when that one day comes out!

Rich, just popped into my local Blockbuster (I also needed lemonade and ice cream from Tesco. It's too damn hot right now) and the dude I spoke to seemed to think they had it available on Friday too, which is great.

However, he also mentioned that the red and blue consoles would be £179.99, and that the silver would be more expensive at £189.99. Is this what you've heard as well? Sounded odd to me. First I've heard of colour specific pricing at any retailer to be honest.

That's certainly absurd.

That's bizarre. Last I checked it was £179.99 for all.

Give the website a check. I can't right now, as I'm at work.

So am going to pick this up as soon as it hits. My only downside for the system is the fact I wont be able to use my slide pad anymore. Since that thing is a godsend for MH3G.

Got a question since I never bought anything from Nintendo's consoles or handhelds before. I have a wii points card laying around that I never used. Can those points be used on 3DS or they're only for Wii?

Not the old Wii ones. You'd need one of the new Nintendo Point cards.

Old ones are just Wii/DS, I believe. Plus the cards to expire, so you may wanna check the date on them.

The problem with sticking it in the charger is that I'm not willing to always carry the charger with me. I have a very spontaneous life, so it happens quite often that I leave my house in the morning and won't be home for 2-3 days.

Finally got my hands on one today, what a glorious machine. I fell in love instantly.
The screen, the size, the buttons are all perfect. It was in one of those damned cradles, so I couldnt judge the weight too well, but everything else was sweet.
Mario Kart and Mario Land were the two games to try.

So the manager of GAME said trade in my White 3DS and an XL with an AC Adapter will come in at £79.99, which isn't too bad.

The temptation is really burning me. Argh.....

DO IT! don't hesitate, you know you want to!

Is this true?

GAME has a unique trade-in deal where you can secure a 3DS for just £79.99 when you trade-in an old boxed 3DS model. You even get 24 hours to take your new 3DS XL home and perform a system transfer to save all of your data. The deal lasts until 9th August, and costs no more than GAME's standard price-point: £179.99. You even get a new AC adaptor, too.

Can't believe that this close to launch and there is still no word on official screen protectors or cases. Also gamestation didn't have stock in when I phoned today, fingers crossed I can get it to tomorrow. Holding off on my Master Run play through for it.
