On mobile it comes up as pixelated garbageI'm guessing you didn't see the original Batman movies? The photo in the background has been photoshopped to have the Harvey Dent from the 1989 Batman movie.

"The film played extremely well," said a member in attendance, who added that many of the voters he spoke to thought it was the best of Nolan's three Batman movies.
LOL. It's July.
The Hurt Locker came out in July.
I'm sorry, that was low.
I'm starting to think Avengers will get one thenIt will get a best picture nomination, I'm almost sure of that. If it can finally get Nolan a best director nomination, then I'll be happy.

A best director nom is a must.
Unfortunately it would be a gift nomination, more than anything deserved this time around.

It's like Peter Jackson getting it for RotK....it's for the whole body of work.
Definitely deserves at least a nomination unless 5 directors come out with some big time home runs.
Fellowship is definitely the film that should have won the awards, but RotK wasn't a bad film by any stretch. There are so many great scenes in that film that are seared into my mind.
It is on a completely different level to TDKR.
Invincible ghost army killed it for me...killed it.

ROTK as a film was the weakest of the 3. TDKR as a film is the strongest
1. TTT was the weakest of the three.
2. TDKR is the weakest of the three (but let's not get on that merry-go-round again)
Aren't you the guy who likes Avatar
lol
I enjoyed it more than the second film, but I don't think that the second film was that great. Mainly because of pacing issues.
So I think the best thing I can say about this film is that even though it's longer it felt shorter.
I agree with sculli in that the lotr films, all of them were oscar caliber. PJ was snubbed twice before winning for the third film - which isnt the same case here.
The batman films werent made with awards in mind (inception was), but TDK was an oscar caliber film. If horse turd like frost/nixon could get nominated, then of course this movie shouldve been in the running.
TDKR also doesnt seem like it was made for awards. Expect tech nom only and maaaaybe a best film nom id they expand to 7 or 10 films (compensation oscar, that too)

I don't think either Inception or TDKR were made for awards. Studios don't invest hundreds of millions into comic book films and sci-fi films (two genres that don't do well with awards at all) in the hopes of getting awards.
The studio made them for money, and Nolan made them because he wanted to tell those stories. Simple as that.
ROTK is a lot like Return of the Jedi. Not a truly great film, but has great moments that you can't forget. Of course TTT is no Empire, I think it's easily the weakest. ROTK's obviously more vital to that trilogy than TDKR though is the striking difference.
4 years later, the shocking thing to me I think is the continued reverence of TDK. That was a film where hype got me, and I think it was a slow burning disappointment. It's not really a masterpiece. I loved large parts of it, will always have a soft spot for it, but I've come around to its flaws. Most people in the mainstream seem to haven't.
Man... I don't know. I didn't think this movie was that great. Maybe I'm just too wrapped up in TAS or Conroy-voice or something, but Rises just didn't do it for me.
You didn't like this movie because Conroy wasn't voicing Batman?
Not specifically that. I mean, I had a lot of problems with pacing, how clumsy the film felt to me, the introduction of new characters I didn't really care about, and that kind of thing, but the main thing - the overarching thing - is that I expect Batman to be... well... awesome. And there's just something about movie Batman that always, always feels to me, like instead of being Batman it's some goddamn psychopath in body armour, crimefighting with cash. The stupid helm, the visible eyes, the voice; he just doesn't feel like Batman to me. (Also, for half the movie, I had to not actively associate him with Keanu Reeves).

Fellowship is the winner from the trilogy and should have won. ROTK has some great moments, but much of it is a mess too. Above TDKR for sure, but it just wasn't a film that should have won, much less even been nominated for the amount of problems it had.
I could see TDKR grabbing a token nomination. Just because they have the spots now, end of an era, etc.
