The app store is being really weird for me right now. While switching from a Canadian iTunes account to my normal US one something weird happened and now I can't view the featured (main) section of the app store. It tells me 'your request could not be completed' when I click on that section. The rest of the app store works perfectly for me... tried restarting iPad, shutting down the app store in the multitasker, etc.

edit: Fixed it! I logged out of my US account and back into the Canadian and then vice versa for like the 5th time in a row and it suddenly fixed itself.

It's a great game, but technically it has minor annoying issues on XBLA and the graphics are poor for that platform and only masked by the cool style of them. Most annoying is that obvious things haven't been fixed between Episodes. Everyone I know who has played it and owns an iPad thinks it'll be a perfect match though. I would probably buy it again if it's ever heavily discounted.

I wouldn't call the graphics poor. That's just the style of both Telltale and I assume the comic influenced look they wanted given the source material.

Telltale's style is also to release games with frame rate problems and audio stutters. Back to the Future and Puzzle Agent ran like shit on my ipad. I have the walking dead on the 360, but I'm kind of moving away from that and would also buy it on the ipad if it runs well. Telltale's games go on sale like every other week anyways.

I would definitely call the graphics poor...but it's a telltale game so it's no surprise. For what their games look like they should all be running at 60fps with no hitches.

There's no way I'd call the graphics poor, they nail the look of the comic perfectly imo.

Isn't it fixed perspective?

There was a first person scene at the very start where I had to pan around and look for hotspots. It was annoying because a full swipe across the screen (on an iPad!) corresponded to a perspective shift of maybe a couple of inches. It seems to be running fine other than that, though.

I discovered Junk Jack the other night, and foolishly downloaded it.

I mean 'foolish' in the sense that it is such a fun game - but completely addictive. Already got a good 5-6 hours worth of play out of it, and I have barely scratched the surface. Terraria-like building/exploration, with an emphasis (to my mind) on treasure seeking. Lots of crops to plant/food to create, and with a hefty update due for release anytime now... it sounds like it will only get better.

It is also apparently seeing release as an OS X title through the App Store - hopefully with cross-platform syncing.

I can not recommend this game enough.

I know how you feel. I lost a few days to junk jack.

Swiping to look around in Walking Dead is annoying sluggish. Is it like that on the PC or console versions?

I found it moved too quick lol. It isn't a swipe action to look though, it's more a virtual joystick so to look left just put your thumb down, move it left a tiny bit and hold it and your view will keep shifting to the left until you take it off.

Oh, fuck. Duh. I'm bad at video games. :(

Just bought Manos. I have a supreme weakness for 8bittyness.

Wait...who put him on the iOS store? Does the game involve political gun discussion in anyway?
Ha. No, this game isn't an ad for the right to conceal and carry.

Manos is actually very cool. Very charming, great music (Torgo's theme!), tight controls, hard as balls.

The Walking Dead runs pretty good on an iPad 2 if anyone was wondering. Much better than Jurassic Park.

They updated Monkey Island recently to run better so maybe they are finally doing some optimizations in iOS that is carrying over to their new ports.

Initial impression of Spy vs Spy - pretty clunky controls. :(

Yep does not really work. Need to be close to things like cupboards which is difficult because you have your finger in the way.

Not worth buying at this stage.

Manos on the other hand seems quite good. Reminds me of 'my hero'

rawr, anyone else pick up the freemium game Jurassic Park Builder?

Link

Im generally a sucker for just about anything with Jurassic Park branding, but this is actually pretty good so far. Its your typical world builder/zoo game, you excavate rainforest on this abandoned island to discover shards of amber that you analyze in a mini-game in order to discover dna strands to clone different dinosaurs to add as attractions to your theme park. Typical IAP currency to "speed up" development and research, but Ive logged close to 10 hours so far and havent had any need to consider purchase.

GameCenter achievements and some sort of community aspect where you can visit your friends' parks and assist them with dna research projects.

A decent time waster for free.

Oh man I really wanted to play this!

I can't seem to find it on the Australian App Store?

Has it been pulled or did it never come out on the Aussie store?

Old school Neo Geo heads!!

Blazing Star is available from SNK Playmore. Horizontal scrolling space shmup.

£1.99 in the UK store.

With iCade support!

If SNK keep releasing these, I'm sure as hell gonna keep buying them. In the event the Twinkle Star Sprites drops, I'm going to lose my shit completely.

Are you logged into the same game center? Saves are tied to each account. Just a suggestion.

come to think of it...I did change my username in gamecenter...Ill try changing it back and see what happens.

edit: I changed my nickname back just now and that fixed it. Seems kinda odd the game save is attached to your nickname and not you gamecenter account email.

I wonder how many other games this would affect.

I put about an hour into Walking Dead this morning on iPad 3 and it's terrific. The game really nails the vibe and look of the comics imo. Performance is mostly perfect with some occasional frame hitches when new scenes load but nothing game-breaking, so far it's solid.

How does it control? Is it a traditional fixed-screen pixel-hunt adventure game?

Someone said something about a virtual joystick so I wasn't sure. I'm not a fan of virtual controls so I'm hoping it isn't that.

I've seen two reports of SPy vs. Spy having clunky controls, so I was fully expecting it to be terrible.

I downloaded it and didn't find it so bad. It's not great, but I managed. I think the key is to not treat it like a d-pad, but rather swipes to control.

It controls fine..to look around it does sort of control like a virtual joystick, just put your finger anywhere and slightly move it in a direction to look that way.

Movement is handled the same way.

I played it on my iPhone a bit this morning just to get a feel for it but I wouldn't call it a pixel-hunt since it pretty much puts a big white dot over everything you can interact with...which is actually quite annoying and hurts immersion a bit.

$5 for the first, $6 for Omega on the US store. I just bought the first game, but I'm not sure if I should go for Omega. I loved CR2.

I must get frequent flyer miles because I just paid $3.99 (USD) for the first CR. Either way, I probably won't play it for a while. Still totally engrossed in Final Fantasy Tactics. I estimate I have another 50 hours or so, perhaps more, before I move on.

But is it a long lost GOOD NES game or a BAD NES game? I love retro shit but I can say the trailer inspired too much interest from me. It just looked janky :\

It's really good and controls surprisingly well and like most old school Nintendo games, it presents a good challenge
