Call me crazy, but I thought that Joker was a much better villian than Bane. Joker just had that feeling of being any persons worse nightmare, a bad guy who had no remorse and no goals aside from absolute chaos. Bane was far more structured in his plans, so you had some idea of what to expect.

Nobody panics when things go according to plan. Even if the plan is horrifying.

Imo
1. Ra's
2. Two-Face
3. Joker & Bane tie
4. Scarecrow

I finally found some time to watch this with my wife last night, overall I thought it was a great way to end the series. What ruined the movie experience for me was...stinky loner guy who needed to take a bath and the douche bag boyfriend next to us burping every 10 minutes. This is why I usually avoid going to the theater, I rather just make use of my home set up.

the greatest shot of the series is still Heath Ledger's joker, head out of the vehicle like a foaming rabid dog, electric, the floor of the music dropping out from under us as the sheer gravity of the escalation hits everyone square in the chest.

Almost.

Lets cheat:

Best shot from BB: bruce rising in bat cluster.

Best shot from TDK: Joker in cop car.

Best shot from TDKR: i dont know cuz havent seen. But you can disuss this shit in the spoiler thread.

pfft bats in a darkened cave, boooring

not near as dynamic and significant as the Joker head shot imo

Exactly. That shot could've been done by almost any director, it's just Bruce Wayne surrounded by bats in a cave. Not imaginative or striking in any way.

Bruce stepping out of the darkness into the red light of the flare in TDKR is one of my favorites from that film (CHILL dm - its in the trailers!).

A shot I like in TDKR is (it's in the trailer, and very early on, so not much of a spoiler)
when Bruce is a recluse in the beginning, watching over Gordon's speech. You only see his silhouette, and then he pulls the cane out. It shows how distanced he's become.

For BB, I'd probably pick Bruce walking over the horizon to see the icy mountains or the broooding at night wrap-around.

For TDK, definitely the Joker cop car shot.

Imo
1. Ra's
2. Two-Face
3. Joker & Bane tie
4. Scarecrow

My list:

1. Bane
2. Two-Face
3. Joker
4. Ra's
5. Scarecrow

Dent was really the only reason the last third of TDK didn't completely suck. He'd probably be my #1 if he had more screentime. Bane was awesome though in every aspect - how he fought, looked, sounded, and carried out his plan.

Just saw it, I so wish I could sound like Bane in real life. I'm sure I'm in the minority but he was a better villain than The Joker, a much more complete package of villainy if you will. Dude was smart, didn't give a fuck, and a fucking beast. Plus dat voice.....creepy as fuck.

Yeah, I'd go with Joker hanging his head out of the cop car window as my favorite TDK shot. As far as favorite TDKR shot goes, it has to be
the Batman sign on the bridge (spoiler tagging as a precaution)
.

Also mad props for "....but is Rhas Al Ghul immortal......" Love the blocking in that scene and how the music transitions into the LoS theme as Neeson steps into the frame.

Wow. I just got back from theater. I went in with pretty low expectations considering some of the lukewarm buzz, but I actually really, really liked it, maybe even more than the Dark Knight. Of course, I'm kind of in the minority. I never really liked Begins. I liked Dark Knight, but I thought Ledger was the best part of the movie and that it felt like Batman starring in a Christopher Nolan film. Again, I'm not a comic buff or fim major, so take my opinion with a large grain of salt.

I love how people keep saying this. Not the people who say it gets even better on rewatch, but the people who keep saying that if you don't like it, go and watch it again.

All I am saying is if he ends up not liking it, he should give it another shot before deciding why he doesn't like it. I didn't feel like the need to spell out that for myself the 2nd viewing it got better

Dude come on. No way.

TDK is MUCH darker imo.

There is a palpable undercurrent of danger and menace running all throughout TDK that TDKR doesn't manage outside of one scene.

I'm thinking of scenes like the Mascara mayor looking out of the window while talking to Dent and then BAM - jokered-up dead Batman hanging from a noose.

The heightened sense of fear (credit to Zimmer's ramping score and the editing) when all of the Joker's targets are moved on and then Bruce's 'They're coming for him!' to introduce Joker to the penhouse party.

Dent putting himself in danger but going in the SWAT van, followed by the overhead tracking of the van throughout the city to the taughtening of that goddamn violin string. I was on the edge of my fucking seat.

The interrogation where you realise what Joker's done and how he immediately makes Batman the scared, desperate and powerless one in the cell.

The whole confrontation between Dent and Gordon. JNH's score fucking made that scene along with Oldman's performance.

Joker is killing Bruce's love and driving people to insanity (ZOMG Dent hospital silent screaming) in TDK. Shit is dark as fuck.

I can't believe you just made me go to huge lengths to champion TDK. You've made DM of old very happy.
