Just saw it.

Fucking beautiful.

So fucking beautiful, people.

I just got back, cannot wait to see it again as I really enjoyed it and did not notice any of the screen time. As in, it went by really quickly! So sad that it's over.

Bane's re dubbed voice however was necessary (based on early footage) but jarring with the volume of it and such, every time he spoke could only catch a few words and attempt to fill gaps yourself. It was also so noticeable that the volume was clearly different, especially since we couldn't see Hardy's lips moving. But it's not THAT bad to be honest.

I jokingly said on Twitter that I "Can only surmise studio decided to dub Bane's voice to avert piracy, simply because if you can't hear it in cinemas, no way you'll hear it on shitty CAM rip".

Catwoman was my biggest worry with the film and thankfully they did a great job at nailing the character and adapting her into the Nolan universe. Hathaway gave the character this kind of raw humanity in the second half while also making her playful (in a mean way) in the opening half. I was very impressed and pleased they kept the "personality" intact with only minor edits to the character overall.

But generally speaking, I think TDKR was better than TDK in many ways. Sure Heath acted as a better villain as The Joker in terms of raw acting but TDKR seems to trump it in every other aspect including story, cinematography and general scenario development.

Got back from seeing it last night, and wow. They really uped everything, except maybe the main villain.

Gonna miss this trilogy, but it should go down in history as the best comicbook hero movie series ever.

So let's talk villain intros.

Whose intro did everyone prefer? I thought bane's was interesting, but it wasn't as well done and lacked the same impact as Joker's and especially Scarecrow's intro.

I loved Scarecrow's intro, the burlap sack looks so ridiculous until the gas comes into play, transforming it into one of the most horrifying masks I've seen for some time. Took me by complete surprise the first time I saw it. Loved it. Easily one of my most favorite scene from BB.

Anyone remember how long it took for the TDK extended soundtrack to release after the movie launched?

I googled around but there's no word of a TDKR extenced score yet.

I sort of felt like it was a victim of too many tropes, and the sequel took itself a bit too seriously. It was still a great movie, but not a very good superhero movie.

I enjoyed the first one quite a bit more, even if it dragged in parts it wasn't as bad as the "Middle" of TDKR.

The Joker, undoubtedly. It shows him being ruthless, master schemer, prankster, killer, torturer, a clown and a cool as all fuck in 5 minutes. Frankly Bane's intro seemed too much like a reheated version of TDK's idea of introducing the villain at the beginning of the movie.

I agree with this. Even if I thought the whole plane thing was great. I'd have liked something different than doing it at the start.

Just listened to Kermode's review...I wonder why does he prefer a 35mm presentation over digital projection. I don't see how scratches, dirt, cue marks, jumpy frames, an unstable picture, and the projection light constantly flickering make for a better viewing.

Analog projection lololololol

It's a classic film experience. What is there not to get?

I thought of Bane's intro as a direct allusion to
Batman's Hong Kong kidnapping in TDK
to place the idea firmly in our minds that Batman may have finally met his match. In your description of the Joker's intro, Bane's got the master schemer and killer part down along with sheer menace and power.

I hope Nolan never goes digital. I love the way his films look.

Me too, I'm just talking about projection rather than how it was filmed.

Like I said, reheated, huger, more ridiculous version of an idea from TDK.

more ridiculous? nah, not really. more grand scale definitely. joker robs a bank,
bane robs the stock exchange.
bigger fish to fry for the big man. the intro is definitely used to place him on a level with batman in terms of method/ability imo. i mean, that's some batman shit he pulls off basically--except with guns.

I still think projecting in digital isn't the most ideal for something shot on film. The image is usually cleaner on a 35mm projection if done right, with digital usually displaying colors more flat and doesn't hold the blacks as well. The projectors in comparison to digital are much easier to fix also.

Not going to discredit digital as it works well on film shot in that format, but I can see people having preferences.

Is there a reason that the guns in both TDK and TDKR sounded really "light" and plasticky? Is that just what machine guns sound like? I've never heard one fire in real life.

There aren't many movies that get gunfire or guns in general correct. Also depends on the model, some do have a "plasticky" sound from design and build materials.

^^^^

These guys know what they're talking about.

The most recent film where the gunfire sounds were spot on-> The Town

Every action movie should use Michael Mann's sound designer. Every one of his movies have the best gunfire sounds.

Yeah, his movies are pretty good. I think the scene in BB between the cargo containers sounded pretty damn good with those HKs they were firing, might have been the acoustics.

Just saw the movie and had a blast. Willing to see it again and most likely will, Nolan can have my money. I'm sure they will release a trilogy blu ray set, and I rarely purchase movies, but I would so buy that.

The best gun fire shot in tdk was when Bruce was investigating the bullet print in tdk. That sound woke everyone the fuck up in the theater.

Just came from the theater. It was such a disappointment. Too predictable plot, and the ending left a sour taste in my mouth. Oh well, back to Batman comics.
