This thread is ridiculous. So many generalizations on both sides. I agree that liking the atelier series does not make you a pedophile. I mean, that's just obvious. Some of this stuff can appeal to average everyday people. But a pedophile can find a the series and moe in general very appealing as well. And that shouldn't be surprising

Funnily enough, I just got into RPG gaming to try it out and the first game I chose was Xenoblade, which so far doesn't have a whole lot in the way of cuteness. It does however, have fun gameplay, amazing music and breathtakingly gorgeous art design and vistas. Im highly impressed with it thus far.

I kind of get the OP even though the game sounds pretty boring (crafting). I like Etrian Odyssey games, and I suppose some probably think that people only play them for the loli characters since the game is a fairly niche genre of video game with a lot of RPG elements that most gamers hate nowadays -- random battles, first-person view, high difficulty, lack of save points, etc. I like the game for exactly those points, not to mention the music is spectacular.

All bullshit aside, I agree with the notion being a pedo and liking cute anime characters are not the same thing. They're not even close. In fact, I almost find it a little disturbing that somebody would make this big if a leap between the two.

At the same time, people are going to judge you regardless. It comes with the territory. Doesn't make it right, but people are people. We're all prone to ignorance in one way or another. Explaining it may help in some cases and it may not. You shouldn't sweat it. Cajunator has the right attitude. He likes the stuff, he's honest (hiding the fact that you like cute anime character is fine too) and willing to explain it, but he doesn't let people not "getting it" get to him either. Unless someone starts to consistently bully you about your hobbies (in which case, they're just an asshole that should be ignored anyway), you shouldn't worry about it.

Popolocrois' art style always kind of creeped me out. Those faces are like friggin possessed by aliens or something.

It is creepy actually. Legitimately creepy, he looks like some weird little alien thing rather than a caricature of a human being.

You should actually give them a try. They're really fun as games. As someone who really only plays fighting games and doesn't ever make time for other games, they managed to be interesting enough to pull me away. The alchemy system in the games are amazing.
