Not that I’ve not said it or mentioned it. But the triggers on the Duelsense are AWFUL and add nothing

It's not just AA batteries that are better, it's everything else. My Switch and Switch 2 pro controllers last forever, like probably 30+ hours before needing a charge and I'll sometimes leave them lying around for weeks and barely anything gets drained
The Switch 2 Pro controller is probably my fav. controller to use at the moment. It's really nice not to have to think about the battery

like most controller gimmicks, sadly most games use it badly.

the only games it actually had any real game mechanics tied to it were Returnal, Ratchet & Clank and Astro's Playroom (not even in Astrobot).

the worst implementation is probably in Spiderman, where some retard at Insomniac thought it was a brilliant idea to make the right trigger feel mushy while swinging... like... wtf?

overall, while far less innovative and while having less potential for interesting mechanics, the Xbox impulse triggers have been far more successfully used over the years.

Playing GTA V for the first time on PS5.
The triggers sucks so hard. Not the buttons themselves. The rumble vibration nonsense. I'm sure I can turn it off. I hope
GTA's always used face buttons for shooting/gas/breaks and moving those functions to triggers was a massive mistake.
Triggers and shoulder buttons aren't as fast or as responsive as face buttons and shouldn't be used for high volume actions like shooting, accelerating, breaking or jumping.
Triggers in general are too much work and the reactive triggers just exaggerate this fact by making the triggers even harder to pull.
In terms of GTA the ideal layout is the one used in PS2 San Andreas with face buttons for shooting/gas/breaks and the triggers being used to cycle through weapons.
In terms of DualSense the advanced haptic feedback is the revolutionary game changer and the adaptive triggers are less impressive with a much higher cost in terms of reduced controller lifespan.

I agree. Haven't found them to add much. I feel the same about rumble, even though that's an old one.

I hate how they feel 'gritty' when pressed when the adaptive triggers are active. The ability to add stops is pretty cool, but they feel bad between those points.

The hell... Best feature on the controller. There are shitty implementations of it in many games though.

GT7 is near unplayable without these triggers.

This.

I love them. ESPECIALLY in VR titles.

One of my favorite uses in a game is actually in Sniper Elite 5. The left trigger has a soft stop point half way that allows you to shoulder aim, while fully pressing it goes into scope aim.

It's a shitshow in Ghost of Yotei. I turned mine back off for that game. It's like on 24x7 in the game, and my DS Edge was dying in like 2 hours.

The dualsense controller is over-engineered.

The adaptive triggers are noisy.
The speaker is low quality and distracting.
Almost no developer uses the touchpad.

At least the first 2 can be turned off.

I'll take the Switch 2's "HD Rumble" over the haptic feedback of the Dualsense adaptive triggers any day of the week.

I just wish the Switch 2 Pro Controller was compatible with Windows.

I love the haptic feedback. When it rains, when you walk in grass, etc... you can have that feeling in the palm of your hands, its amazing, feels realistic.

With the adaptative triggers i agree

Haptic is great, it's fantastic. But yeah, some games I can see adaptive being nice, but just your everyday game like GTA or something, it's so off putting.

The games that implement it correctly make actions more impactful. It depends on how they do it, though. Returnal is a prime example of Dual Sense made right. I wish more games did, it really adds to the gameplay.

People here praised these cool vibrations to high heavens on Returnal as some mega innovative thing that changed the experience. When i actually played it on a ps5 it was a complete nothing burguer.

I love everything about the controller except for the battery life (which isn't a big deal) and the lack of colour.
Haptics and adaptive triggers in my veins.

Yeah. I don't know what it is with Sony controllers and batteries. Nintendo cracked the code. Xbox gives us the option to use great rechargeable batteries most us parents already have.
I love the option to throw some cheap AA batts in or rechargeable ones. I swear my Xbox pad last FOREVER on 2 batts. I will buy an 8 pack and it last me a year or two or more.

I don't have a problem with the battery being built-in but if you are going to do that then don't go shit cheap on its capacity. Playing a game like Ghost of Yotei, I'm probably playing 1/4 of the time with the damn thing plugged in. That's why I finally bought a replacement battery.

I basically just keep mine wired. Just hardly worth it to me. Least it does not have to be wired to the console and I can just plug it in right next to me on the couch.

Any game, pad, 'triggers', rumble, vibration or any some such shit that wiggles or moves..

And any game that doesn't let you turn it off needs to do one.

Returnal had some fun features but it also wrecked my first gen triggers. Snapped the spring on the L twice. Overall I like it all in theory but then I play and I'm like...yea...alright...I guess. I do wish Cronos had that trigger resistance shit when charging a shot. That'd be sick.

Cronos has it for the shotgun where you really have to press down on the trigger to fire.

needless to say it's not implemented well 😁

I CAN see it's potential.
I mean you should, it's fantastic on AstroBot (even the demo), and Gran Turismo 7 for eg.

But that's like HD rumble for Switch games (or gyro aiming), it's great when done correctly. I don't expect a PS4 port of a PS3 port of a multiplayer game to implement the triggers as they should be implemented.

I have yet to play either, but I plan to get down on some Astrobot and GT. I can see how driving in GT it could be really useful.

Driving in GT is fantastic, even more with the VR2 headset (it's a shame it gives me motion sickness afterwards). Like it was so realistic I wanted to give a dirty look to the driver I managed to pass by (but of course the driver didn't really exist)

it's hit or miss. Amazing in some games, not really in others. Depends on how and what the devs decide to do with it. It sucks when it's just to check the "we have this feature" boxes.

You mean the adaptive triggers? They were amazing in Ghost of Tsushima. It was incredible throwing a rope and pulling it.
Not tried Ghost on it, played it back on PS4, so I need to check the PS5 version. I will always "try" it out to see how it feels. To be fair I have played alot of third party titles on my PS5 so far. I mainly got it because the price was stupid cheap, hardly used slim for $280. Got a decent little digital collection from PS4 days.
