Well of the way they are splitting the series up, I guess it is to everyones advantaged to split it up. Though if this is for the manga, it has nice art. I love when characters hair do that, like Saikos. Well Manga and Anime have the more interesting plot of the three.

I don't really know about that. It looks pretty much the same as before. Unremarkable.
The colour balance and the lighting reminds of me of the promo art for Worms 3D. It's not garish or anything, but it's clearly not reality in the same way that Hyouka is.
The game ending was a bit too much though. Don't think I will ever rewatch the series though, nothing to keep me excited aside from early Minori weirdness.

It's very by the book. If you are familiar with military scifi tropes - which amounts to porting contemporary war stories and cliches into space - then there's really nothing necessarily "original" about the show. But if you like those tropes, then it's like going back to something wonderfully familiar.
So when does Spoor show up then? lol

And suddenly, the show decides that it's going to try to have an actual plot. A fairly dumb-sounding plot, but I'm trusting firehawk when he says it delivers!
The bishies are cast into the depths of an existential crisis after the Miracle Train is enveloped in a rainbow aura and suddenly appears in an unknown station undergoing construction. This unusual occurrence causes them to think serious thoughts about life and one's place in the universe that we've all had to consider at one point or another, like "why are we anthropomorphized train stations?" and "why do we help to solve the problems of girls?".
This inexplicably leads to a dramatic sequence where the Miracle Train and its passengers suddenly turn to stone and begin to crumble, clearly symbolic of how the realization that we live in a cold and material universe and that our origins are a random product of the chaotic interaction of atoms undermines our feelings of self-worth. The bishies finally achieved the level of self-awareness necessary to consider their origins, however this new awareness also forced them to face the prospect of their mortality for the first time. The stone phenomenon immediately reversed and everything returned to normal, but the episode ended with everyone deep in troubled thought.
Also the bishies have decided unanimously that the masked Conductor is shady as shit, for the two perfectly valid reasons of a.) there are no conductors on the Oedo line to begin with, and b.) dude has a private room at the front of the train that he never lets anyone in.

Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection
I decided to check out the semi-recent movie reboot of the anime series and it's almost exactly like the new story in terms of how I feel about it: the story is fairly generic scifi (inter-dimensional aliens are moving a black hole to Earth to try to suck up its resources - what?), but it's still awesome military scifi.
I'll be the first to admit that it doesn't look great either, since it's a :wonzo special, but it's also a movie where at least 70% of the film is about guys on starships doing badass starship things like shout random orders and slap subordinate officers. I wish I didn't write this franchise off after the Battlestar Galactica-esque live action movie, but I'm on board now.

It really is amazing. It's the no-nonsense badass "Navy battles in space" show I've been looking for... and it came out in the 70s. lol
It really as if someone rescued the great military drama scenes from nuBSG and put it into its own series. Now, maybe there are angels and FINAL FIVE and WHERE IS EARTH later on and I'll be severely disappointed, but based on the two movies and 6 episodes of the remake that I've seen, so far so good.
One thing I just discovered is that the remake pulls a "Starbuck" and genders-waps one of the main characters, creating a potential love triangle where there wasn't one in the original. I suppose they felt the need to do that to appeal to modern audiences. lol

Definitely better than the main character, or the first character they introduced. He seems fun and actually really powerful, based on these clips, and the sand.
