You're all wrong the Nintendo Wii U is secretly a toaster now.

North America to get the system last. :/

Look how long we had to wait for 3DS XL

True, but handhelds are most popular in the East, while consoles are the most popular in the West, so I would be very surprised if NA didn't get it before or the same day as Japan.

Has there been any confirmation (or further proof) from EA that their full line up of sports titles are coming to the WiiU this year?

Last I heard, some weeks after E3 EA stated they were going to support WiiU with some unannounced games to be revealed later on by the end of the year.
Also, Madden has been confirmed IIRC.

I never thought about it, but for the people who were dedicated and bought COD Wii this is likely going to be a huge upgrade.

That's me! Although it also means all the most overpowered killstreaks will be left in, which is one of the pluses of the Wii version. I'm waiting on seeing how widely the Wiimote gets supported among FPS' before even thinking about shelling out for the Wii U. Pointer aiming is just too great an advance to lose.

I'm with you on FPSses and the Wii remote. I'm not very quick on the draw with a Dual Shock so I really like the pointer controls. I avoided most FPS games period due to just not being good at them. I know practice makes it better, but I just wasn't motivated.

IR shooting in FPS games was great for me. I actually began to enjoy them again for the first time since like the late 90's. That being said I didn't really pay much attention to the COD series on Wii, even though I heard they had really good pointer controls.

I'm concerned we won't see that many FPS games that support the Wii remote. I think we'll be stuck with dual joysticks on the WiiUpad. I don't want that, but I'm prepared for that future.

That's pretty much how I feel with the K&M since playing PC FPS'. Playing RAGE on the 360 was such a chore for me that I don't know how people manage with dual analogue.

All of this, but I'm excited about the prospect of no hacking. GE/MW3 Wii had just way too much of this garbage. It's one thing to have script kiddies run radar hacks; it's a damn problem when hackers can prevent your Wii from connecting to the Internet.

I like the pointer for actually making it feel like there's some degree of skill when I get a kill. Realistically, I know there's no shortage of auto-aim when looking down sights, but moving quickly between targets with twitch accuracy is just fantastic. Going back to twin analogues just isn't a possibility for me, I've played some HD console FPS' since and it just felt horribly slow and imprecise. ZombiU won't support the pointer (which means no buy regardless of whether I own the console), so I'm waiting to hear on COD and Aliens: Colonial Marines before deciding whether to invest.

Such a shame Nintendo lost their nerve and didn't just add a few more buttons and an extra analogue (maybe four SNES-style buttons instead of the big A, then move the D-Pad down and put the second analogue in its place) to the old Wiimote, which is such a fantastic controller design. I'll miss being able to move both hands independently too, scratching my nose and other such silliness in mid-game. It's a small but nice bit of freedom to have.

@Pineconn: I really haven't experienced much obvious hacking and have put hundreds of hours into MW4, BOps and MW3 Wii. Every now and again it would pop up, but only rarely. And it's thanks to getting into a hacked match that my MW3 profile was promoted to top level with all unlocks and none of the usual slog, so I won't complain too much...!

I am a big supporter of Wii Remote's motion controls in FPS, still I reckon UPad is going to throw some innovative features, so I can't make up my mind about which one's my favourite controller.

MDX in the Wii U spec thread says he received a text from a "pretty reliable source with a need to know" of his that Wii U launch is Oct 1. That's a Monday so grain of salt so maybe September 30? That would give plenty of breathing room for third parties in late October and November.

What? September 30? Oh god, I won't have any money by then :lol I think I'll have to wait some time before buying.

Wait, so people are believing that Nintendo will release a BRAND NEW CONSOLE with BRAND NEW GAMES using a BRAND NEW CONTROLLER with about a month and half if not less of PR and advertisement? Wow...

I like how they still haven't made people understand that the system is more than the controller. A facebook friend recently posted

"So the Wii U is basically a Nintendo DS with a bigger screen, better graphics, and bigger dpad".

Such a ridiculous fail on their part.

I want it that early. I've got my funding all lined up and ready to go, but launching that soon with this little information seems cavalier even for Nintendo.

When do inserts and marketing materials usually start showing up for new consoles? I want to say best buy got official 3DS stuff about a month or so before launch, but I could be wrong.

yeah, that too.

Actually just read on IGN that Madden 13 will be available at launch...

BUT...

it won't be the new engine they are putting into the 360/PS3 versions. Plus some other features will be missing since its a launch title and they are rushing it out. It will have full online integrated.

Now I get that launch titles are bastard children/ports of titles originally intended for hardware on the market for years now, but I was always under the assumption that Nintendo and EA were butt buddies with this system. That EA was helping with the networking/online infrastructure. Why is one of the most important EA titles being rushed to meet launch? Wouldn't or shouldn't they have received dev kits, inside information, and all the possible advantages over other 3rd parties to release a proper Madden?

IMO this year was the only year that EA Sports could have used the WiiU as its showcase system. Starting next year at least one of the 2 new other systems will be announced and close to launch. Will WiiU have the best versions of the sports game then? I highly doubt it. Pretty sure that when Sony or MS's new system launches they will get the best version of all the EA sports lineup. Pretty disappointed :(

I think more people are going to end up on the couch playing WiiU games then they imagine right now just chilling with the pad, shit will be comfy as hell.

Pretty sure the first sports titles on PS4/720 will be shit compared to the latest versions as well considering the fact that they'll have to build the engine again for new hardware.

And if Fifa/Madden keep the touchscreen controls that people seem to be excited about I'm sure they'll stay as the better versions in the non-graphics department.

I don't understand the problem; Sega did it.

Probably something like this:

Wii U launch

PS4/720 launch

Then, when the PS4 and 720 are out, you can take the bottom two, tune them down a little and that's Wii U. Wii U titles are unlikely to be using the GPGPU yet.

Anyway, can I ask why some people are thinking October? Is there some precedent that once marketting materials go out that we see the console within X months?

Both Madden and FIFA are lacking major features. Madden is missing an entire brand new physics engine, ffs. Inexcusable. It's the inferior version from the get go and hopefully people don't support such lazy efforts by picking it up.

Problem is if people don't support the crappy stripped down games they sell at launch, then the third parties just won't support the console at all. It's what happened last time.

Are we seriously turning this into another graphical debate? Seriously?

Should we outright ban all next generation console discussion since people insist on having a goddamn fucking pissing contest in every thread?

Nah that's not gonna happen. Wii U will definitely get the big EA sports games the entire gen most likely.

No, we should have a ghetto thread, that's what we did with FZ3 vs GT5, things of that nature.
