just pre-ordered mine from lockerz. went with red.
all i really play is mario kart online.
gonna trade in my regular 3ds for $88 at amazon, not really into trading in stuff but might as well, don't really need two 3ds and that price seems fair to me for not alot of hassle to trade it. hopefully it doesn't drop too much.

The 3d effect in nsmb2 isn't that pronounced apparently.
Ugh so conflicted on choosing a color. I want to play 3DS more (bought and played Pilotwings and Ocarina) by getting 3D land as my next game, but I want to try it out on an XL. Nearly settled on getting Blue, but the thought and chance of white coming out in the U.S. in the near future leaves me at a standstill from purchasing anything.

I thought the DOF backgrounds looked pretty sweet. It was the system itself that made the 3D a pain.
I ordered a red 3DS XL from Zavvi.com in the UK with the intention of getting to play it early instead of waiting for the local Australian release later this month. I'm now on day 17 of shipping and it still hasn't arrived. God damn. I don't think I'll ever order from them again.

I don't think it'll scratch out of the box, chances are very small. You could put bigger bumpers instead of the standard ones already there (which I agree are a bit too small) but even then I doubt it'll scratch easy
That makes me feel a bit better. I've read a lot of crap in this thread about "yellow tint" "garbage speakers" and "screen rape" so I'm worried about all these possible defects screwing me over. Not many retailers accept returns on hardware now and instead force you to use the warranty through the manufacturer which sucks because of the 10 day turn around. I really hope my XL ends up ok...
But how else am I gonna have a cradle on launch? Playasia is the only NA site I can find. Ugh.

Looking at videos, I really, really like the color combination of Red and Black, more so than the blue and black combo. Thinking I will go with that one instead of blue. And if I don't like it, it seems easy enough to change the red shells out for blue or silver or something. Still undecided about it though... as always

We've had 2-3 people who got scratched screens out of the box, and 1 (or is it 2?) who said that the screen got scratched later on. It's not really something you'll have to worry about.
The top screen on my XL doesn't have any marks or scratches and I've opened and closed it plenty of times already. Though, I don't keep it in my pockets or anything like that; it's just lying on my desk when I'm not playing a game.

Just dropped off my 3DS, the're gonna see if it's fully functional and if it is they will take it in and I'll be able to get the XL for 83 euro's ^^. Decided to go for the Blue one instead of Silver. I was also able to make sure I'll be able to do the Data transfer there, so I don't have to pay the full 183 euro's first.

I think Nintendo will sell it for $14.99 over here. With tax in Toronto that's about $18. I grabbed one from play Asia because I love having a cradle and we have no idea when it's releasing here.
The site says 1 week before shipping but mine shipped in about 4 hours. I think it will take a couple of weeks to get here.
I guess I'm just gonna buy it. I really want one. I did see it on game.co.uk for about 8.70. I read you can buy from there if your in the states. Only problem is its only up for preorder.
I wouldn't count on it. Newegg is a good alternative though.

to those that have it, xl3ds 3d is def' easier on the eyes than the original 3ds?
It is for me. Playing zelda on it is like a whole new experience from the 3ds. I could never go back.

That was one of the primary reasons I skipped the release of the original 3DS. I'm really looking forward to this -- the 19th can't come fast enough.
I am a bit worried with the talk about yellow/scratched screens out of the box, though!

The famous illusive "Chopper Purse" in brown. I'm a fan of brown leather, just something very classy looking about it.

It looks of good quality, but seems to not be that protective, and perhaps too tight of a squeeze for the system? Especially with all the screen scratching talk, that worries me. Also, there's just that elastic strap holding in your pens and games? No worries there? Is it just the form factor you like?
It's ok if y'all just want a pretty colored purse, just let me know hy it's so great as a handheld case.

The stylus and games are completely secure. I was initially concerned that the elastic might put pressure on the screens, but after some testing, I really don't think that's the case. It's not strong enough to damage the screens, but plenty strong enough to secure your DS. And it looks pretty good. Perhaps others here can give you a second opinion.
