But IMHO, they're most surely aren't brilliant.
I bought my PS3 when KZ2 was released and purchased most of their exclusives-plus I spent a ton of money on Home and other online games. I sold my PS3 almost a year ago after not playing it for months at a time. I played the crap out of KZ2, UC2 and GoW3 but other than that, there really-IMO-isn't anything else to write home about. I liked MGS4 a lot as well and LBP was cool but that got old fast.
The games I played and liked, I played and liked but nothing kept me hooked like Halo, Gears, Fable, Forza, Viva Pinata, and all the third party stuff. Kinect isn't perfect but it's fun (it has it's games) and my wife and son like using it as well. Not to mention that the online is so well integrated and effecient. I live in California and I know XBL isn't the same world wide (lacking features and the like) but at least for me, over here, the experiences aren't even worth mentioning in the same conversation.
Sony has games that look good but after awhile, just don't have the legs to keep me coming back. They have high production value but it's mostly spent on cinematics and presentation (fluff). The online play and community isn't even close so when I'm comparing replay value, I get way more out of my 360.
I'm not hating on Sony, I just don't really care for their games anymore-not enough to think about buying another one any time soon. That could change, I've been gaming for 30 years and have seen many games/consoles/companies, come and go. I've purchased every console to hit our shores day one, except for the PS3. A lot of that was price, arrogance and lack of software that I wanted for several years. The other part was MS releasing an excellent successor to the Xbox. Yeah, yeah RROD but they handled that well and I went thru much worse with Sony consoles breaking last gen and when the PS1 was big. Call it preference but MS does more for me as a gamer and I like the cut of the gib.
