North American Vita Compatible PSone Games

Fuck it. Im stretching everything. I want the WHOLE SCREEN COVERED IN PSONE. Give me that oled sex.
I just want a faithful to the aspect ratio zoom in WITHOUT cutting off the top and bottom. I never cared to do that on PSP due to it looking so much better at native resolution (or an approximation anyway), but here it starts as double and bilinear filtering means going over doesn't look bad at ll going by my experience with the zooming/stretching settings thus far. Maybe they'll add more options in an update, seems like they did that for the PSP emulator so I'm hoping the same can be done with PS1 emulator. Oddly enough, Symphony of the Night SEEMS like it actually works out well for Normal, but that's partially because the circle displaying your health actually looks like it was squished down on original anyway.

Actually, I'm finding I prefer Bilinear Filtering a bit more even for games like Alundra versus similar PSP games. I think it has to do with the fact all of these games were designed with a relatively blurry CRT in mind, versus a smaller handheld screen where everything will look sharper.

I've debated getting the PSOne Classic Import of Mega Man 2 off of the PS Store for a while. Is there anything different about it aside from the modernized health bar?

There's an original mode which is Megaman 2 as it was back on the nes, only with the added ability to save after finishing a stage. There's the navi mode, which features some minor visual tweaks and stuff. There's also the option to unlock remixed music and a boss rush mode. The only problem is that you might need a guide the first few times you play it (unless youre fluent in japanese) till you memorize the menu options.

so IS there anyway to disable the rear touch inputs in PSOne titles?

Shit is driving me bonkers due to how I hold my Vita (fingers always wrapped around the back)
I wish. I haven't found any option for that. I really hate that rear touchpad, disabled it in any game where I could.

Yeah when I used zoom I felt it was a bit too literal in its execution haha. I felt the psp did the full screen a bit better but maybe that's because of the lower resolution. I always keep the filtering on, even for psp games. And I hope they keep updating it, I feel they could get some more out of it.

Do ps1 games on vitas screen really look that good? I'm not saying vitas screen is overrated but every 95% of every portable device I've owned has had a old screen(zune HD, nexus s, galaxy s 2,ect.) So nothing really surprises me anymore. Maybe I should look at s normal LCD screen in order to get the. " wow" factor back.

Imagine a game you played on a 27"" crt over composite cables or rf switch filtered and scaled to a 5" oled screen. It's very flattering.

Yup, and a lot of games were added for Vita-direct access, not to mention PS3 copying.

Thank god I can download Championship Bass from the PSN. I'll be in a cold, cold grave before I transfer this gem via my PS3.

Anyone try transferring Tomba? It's there in the store but still don't show up for transfer in Content Manager with the others.

Time to buy and download Grandia. I really need to replay it eventually. I haven't played it since it was first released.

Not since launch, but I still have the install bubble, same as my other PsOne games that had no problem. It's the only one that don't.
But they just now made it available/compatible. Odds are that the change is in the executable on the store, so you'd have to redownload it to make it transferrable. I assume, anyway. There's no other online component involved in the transfer process, so I'm not sure how the Vita and PS3 are suddenly supposed to know a game that didn't work yesterday now works today.

Try restarting the Vita or PS3 maybe?

Tried that, no dice.

Yeah I guess I got no choice. Strange though, none of the other games needed any update or anything like that. Weird.

My bandwidth cap is yelling at me.

Has anyone bought Arc the Lad II yet? Is it just the main game or is the combo with Arc II and Arc Monster Arena available?

I'm pretty sure Tomba was in the list of games that wouldn't transfer.

what's your cap?

60GB a month. Canada, living with family while I go through school. Can't really complain because I'm not paying for it. Been dropping subtle hints in the form of pamphlets and promotion ads left casually around the house for the Fibre-Op service that just came here. Not having any luck with that.

By the middle of the month I'm getting the 75% notification. Cap resets on the 6th, and there have been too many digital releases to keep up with. (Which is why I keep all my install bubbles on PS3 for Vita stuff, because you never know.)

I have been doing the same with all my (30) games too. Was playing Resident Evil 2 last night, wide, with headphones in a dim room. So good.

Overall the wide/stretched function is pretty much the only way I will play them now, aspect ratio be damned. On PSP I didn't stretch. On PS3 I didn't stretch. But on the Vita it looks fantastic, and you forget about any kind of squishing very quickly. I would recommend those who think it's blasphemous for others to enjoy it stretched to at least give it a shot on the OLED. Personally playing my games at the normal, or original settings feels neutered in comparison.
