Dumb question: How does this work exactly?

Did you have to put your name on a list? Was is free or did you pay/have to buy something of his? He'll draw whatever people ask?

He had a booth set up in what is known as "artists ally" at the convention. There were probably 50+ artists there including Neal Adams (who is fucking amazing). Over the course of the 4 days I was at the convention, I went to artists ally several times and he was not there, on the final day I got lucky.

This is my 4th year going to Dragon*Con and sometimes he does sketches by a lotto type system, sometimes does them unlimited, but it all depends on his free time. If he is busy doing commissioned work that is very detailed for someone, then he is not available for these quick sketches. He also is a guest speaker at various comic panels and hosts different things throughout the weekend. This sketch took him about 5 minutes and was $40, the person before me wanted Captain America which was a smaller sketch and was $25. A total fucking steal, he could easily charge 2X to 3X that amount and people would still pay it. Neal Adams prices are much higher. Yes, he will sketch whichever character you request.

Does no one have the balls to shield-ify Wolverine and SpiderWomans costumes?
Come on i was hoping for a new Spider Woman atleast, im so tired of her costume, i cant be the only one who thinks its shitty....can I?

They sure have grown up huh?

I keep thinking this is going to happen.

I like Wolverine's current look and all, but at least when he was doing stuff for X Force he had a unique look for that book.

I'm always hoping that he will get an offical Avengers look, or a redesign if the rumors of him replacing Cyke as th mutant leader end up being true.

Angel & Faith #9 lost me on the arc, i was enjoying it for a bit too, but it closed with Angel being a bit too annoying.

Damn DCBS pissing me off, I was gonna give you my money brahs but dom't like D list talent on Deadpool or Legion.
I'm okay with deadpool but legion, a plus x, iron man, and avengers assemble are unneeded. I'm too curious to avoid trying all new x-men

Angel & Faith #10 was good, art by Samnee helped. Then issue #11 went back to being annoying, especially Angel.

Are there any world class artists putting out 12 issues a year on the same book anymore? Certainly isn't on anything I read...

I don't think Reis has missed a month on Aquaman.

He has. There was a fill in for the Mera side story, maybe a half dozen issues in. But I guess that's not a bad track record though if he hasn't missed any since the last time I read (maybe issue 8?) I'll give you that one.

Oh that's right. I can't think of one book I read that hasn't had fill in art. I was gonna say Tyler Kirkham on GL: New Guardians, but I want to say he split art duties with another penciler on issue 7 or 8ish.

Which rumors?

There are definitely some artists out there that are capable of long, largely uninterrupted runs, but they're often of "the old guard," and few and far between -- and getting rarer, with all the distractions and side endeavors available now.

Which rumors?

Nothing really to believe. Just something that a few people were going on about, most likely they and I by extension are full of shit.

Granted I hope someone replaces Cyclops (not Wolverine) but someone.

Edit: Hell to be fair to them, I could have totally misunderstood a joke/not serious convo and be the only one full of shit in this instance.

Cannonball and Sunspot, but no Moonstar? Weak, Marvel. WEAK. All Marvel writers need to read John Francis Moore's X-Force to see how perfect Dani Moonstar is. And all artists need to check out Adam Pollina's art during that run to see how to draw her.

You like Avengers? We got Avengers.

Can't identify the two characters above and behind Cap. Marvel. I'm guessing the fire guy next to Thor is Human Torch, but I'm probably wrong.

Wow, I just realized that this image is one book. I saw the 3 colours and assumed this was Avengers, Secret and Mighty. Probably should have been because I can't see poor lil Sam Guthrie get any play with the rest of these dudes in the room.

Presumably Cannonball and Sunspot - Hickman said New Mutants characters were in the book, and he's a huge fan of those two, seeing as they starred in the first story he ever wrote for Marvel.

The guy behind Captain Marvel is a mystery, possibly completely new. Shang-Chi will be a member as well according to prior interviews, which leaves three more characters in the 18-member lineup that aren't shown here.

So the girl is magma?

As per Hickman's Formspring, the silhouette guy on the #1 cover is called Manifold. Apparently a new character, since Googling doesn't turn up any evidence of an existing Marvel character by that name.

Oh, OK!

I hope Cyclops gets the boot as I don't like him (and it will be a nice character development for him. Where he would go from there?) but I agree with you the Wolverine should not be the one to lead.

It would actually be pretty cool if Cyclops ended running a renegade group of few X-Men...like the X-Force! Too bad Remender is too busy!

What the fuck!
God no, as much as i like Wolvy and the X-men i dont actually see him as a good leader, i know this might be crazy but isnt it time for Kitty Pryde to grow the fuck up

So the girl is magma?
Thats Captain Marvel, thanks to one of the Gaffers i bought all the issues and while #1 was slightly slow, im absolutely loving it and i cant wait for the next issue...i want more. She might replace Wonder Woman as my favorite comic woman.
Its between M and Captain Marvel right now.

Shes pretty much the leader of the Wolvy and the Xmen right now.
No reason for her to not step up and become more serious about her job once the Xmen are fully reunited post AvX

Wolverine is a good leader of X-Force....goodish leader of X-Force, but of all the Xmen and Mutant kind i think not.

Kitty has matured alot in recent years, but she still has i want to call them childish tendancies but let me call them less than leader like tenancies.
Now that she is calling herself ShadowCat a more mature costume and outlook would be perfect new leader ShadowCat.

Wolvy, Prof X probably Cykes and Emma too can still be there as mentors or whatever but the leader needs to be ShadowCat for atleast a while.

Ok, you changed my mind. It would actually make a good, decades old character arc for her to go from being the brat who hated Professor X for his decisions to being someone who has to deal with Quentin Quire.

And by brat, I don't mean I don't like her. She is actually one of my favorites.

Sounds like AvX is going to end most of the anti-mutant stigma so hopefully there's no need for any of Cyclops' stupid Extinction Team crap. WatXM has proven that X-Men is WAY more fun when it's being totally chill and not all grimdark, doom and gloom, end of the worldy. So forget about the leader of mutant kind nonsense, and vote Broo for JGS class president.

If the general tone of WatXM could seep into the rest of the MU proper, with occasional grim detours like UXF only when necessary and to stand as a necessary but rare contrast, I would be like the happiest.

ShadowCat would be great choice, but I doubt Marvel would give her the jump start she needs to be a leader of the mutant race. I would bet on Wolverine, he's not the best choice but he's the obvious one. The Avengers have two clear leaders Cap and Iron Man, The X-Men have Cyclops and Wolverine. Cap and Wolvie believe in the old ways, which should bring fun comics back.

They are working the shit out of Salvador Larocca to get this Iron Man story over and done with. I think Iron Man has been released every two weeks for the last few months.

I'm all for more-fun-less-angst, but I hope this is not true. The whole "sworn to protect a world that hates and fears them" has been the X-Men schtick since like forever, and IMHO is what distinguishes them from all the other generic capes.

Reading these opinions about the future leadership of the X-Men is odd. You guys know that these people aren't real, right? They just act the way the writers want them to be? Wolverine could be a fantastic leader, but he could also have a vagina if the writers wanted him to.

Also, I agree with Benji, WatXM should be the blueprint for all comics. Make it about characters interacting and you've got me. I don't need a big scary villain in every story, it's silly. WatXM treads a very fine line but the most interesting stuff in there is the interpersonal stuff between the protagonists.

In fact, I could totally read a book with no 'villains'. Just characters interacting and getting into scrapes. Falling out, making up, having a good ol chat.
