since when does the front matter? The front is a screen. Every phones front looks just about the same. I can't even imagine in my mind what could be different in the front. Also, technically the front is different. Camera on top of speaker, and bigger screen and smaller home button.

I think "completely new design" is far too strong a compliment. This is more an iteration. 3GS-4 was a completely new design. I was hoping for more along those lines.

The 4/4S design is now iconic, almost as iconic as the Apple logo. People can tell it's an iPhonoe from a mile away. I think that, combined with the fact that they believe they're on to something with the general design and that it works well, is what made them decide to still with some of the general elements, instead of throwing everything in the toilet and starting from scratch. I wouldn't doubt they tried a shitload of new, maybe radically new designs, but for a multitude of reasons decided in the end to go with this one.

Look at their recent MBP Retina laptops. The thing was rebuilt from the ground up, yet it looks identical to the last gen ones apart from ports and thinness. This was a conscious decision to maintain the look, as they could have easily changed the physical design of the laptop. Apple has shown that once it truly finds something that works, it isn't in any hurry to alter the physical appearance through future models and instead decided to refine. In the iPhone's case, they know they need to sell it in the hundreds of millions to almost every country on the planet, so I can understand the resistance to introduce a radical new form factor that may have a bunch of growing pains. I agree right NOW, the design looks a little bit ridiculously stretched, but thats to be expected. I imagine a year from now when these are common, the older iPhones will look awkwardly short and pudgy.

Oh i know in fact if you see my first post in this thread it talks on how they will surely convince me that this phone is incredible even if right now i don't like it so much
Dunno maybe it's just me because i always thought that the 3:2 screen was perfect and the design was at its peak since i consider it the best design for an electronic gadget ever made...maybe people will like the 16:9 screen and the new design dunno.

So you guys think we will be clear of supply issues by December? I'm not really familiar with what it's like or has been like during iPhone releases. That's when my contract ends and when my (potential) purchase would be.

Well the front matters a lot as it is the part of the phone the user interacts with most. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it, the design is a classic and personally the only change I'd make would be to make the home button capacitive. I know the materials and manufacture process has changed but to me it very much looks like an evolution of the 4 design. I like it actually.
 
Anyone who think this will sell less than 4 or 4S because it's not 'different enough' apparently doesn't remember the 4S and how successful it ended up being despite being nothing more than a spec bump + Siri.

This product reveal and launch will be fine as usual, but the next two years could be rough. As much as the iPhone 4 design is genius and works, people will begin to bore of a three year old design.

It literally took 20 seconds, and I wouldn't talk about 'too much time' when you spend time chronically posting about a company you dislike, and literally stalking me in this thread. And I couldn't care less what you own. Almost every Apple troll post on the internet spreading FUD ends with OH BTW IM POSTING THIS ON A MACBOOK PRO. I'm judging you by your comments, and the handful of Apple related posts in your recent history have all been negative in some way. That usually means the person is agenda driven, otherwise, you know, there'd be a couple positive ones in there somewhere, just maybe. I don't know if I want to engage with the first part of your post or just quote the second part as a response.

This thing will obviously sell a ton, but even if the 4S was just a spec bump, it benefited from folks whose 2 year upgrades on their 3GS was up, and they got to move to the awesome new design. With the 5, it'll be folks who bought the 4 and they've already had the design for 2 years. It'll be months before we know for sure, though, because as you said, the launch will still be crazy.

This unquestioning belief that everyone has to be pro-x-company or they're a 'troll' - even when they use that company's products - speaks hugely of your bizarre persecution complex on behalf of Apple, a company that doesn't give a fuck about you or your posts, beyond selling you as much stuff as possible like every other company on the planet. It's like you need validation from their stuff selling, and that's what people are commenting on.

Your post is bullshit, because of the strawman in your 1st statement, something that I don't believe at all. However, I do think someone with a 100% negative posting record on a product/company is a troll, especially when he insists on posting in threats related to those /products companies and continually harrassing people in those threads. I tried to find 1 positive Apple post in his last 50 posts or so, and couldn't. All negative. That implies nothing to you? I guess I could also spend my time posting in threads about shit I hate, but I don't get the psychology behind it. I never once directed a post at him in this thread, yet he's been on my case each time. I'm sick of it.

Guise, I asked a pages back but still need to know. What info do I need to preorder if I want to switch from AT&T to a Verizon family account?

Do I just buy through the Verizon account then cancel my AT&T when it arrives? And can I switch numbers easily?

So many questions and preorders might be tomorrow ffffffffff
