Steam Greenlight: 1000 games and counting, more Greenlit every few weeks

I enjoy T.E.C. a lot on Xbox 360 - but you might make it something like "TEC 3002" with some balancing improvements, the game gets a little too hard later on...I think it is a cool game with great graphics. If you don't get on Greenlight, I would love to play it on some form of tablet.

Thanks for suggestins, we were planning to publish it to Desura and maybe port it to iPad.

If you like tower defense games, then I'd appreciate if you'd give Immortal Defense a look and a vote on for Greenlight. It's a very trippy and psychadelic (well, at least in my own mind) take on tower defense. There's a demo available that has about half the game in it, so it's a fairly good taste of the full game.

I programmed the level editor for the game.

Also I have upvoted so many RPGs. Could always use more on there.
I can vouch for the dev too- great guy, very helpful in the indie community, and is transparent with his sales so we can learn from them. He deserves the success.

Yup. I founded the company/group name he goes under (RPGCreations), I let him take it over once we went our separate ways.

I get 1% royalties off each ID sale. Getting on Steam would notably increase my payments :D

Now if he'd ever get around to releasing Saturated Dreamers...

Voted for it, but I feel like they have enough on their plate already with the Kickstarter DLC and patches they still need to do for the Vita. Bah.

They definitely seem stretched thin (the game is pretty much on every platform EXCEPT PC!) and need a far better QA solution, but everything gets worked out in the end and it's really second to none in terms of real pinball emulation. Having it on PC would be great.

So the first ten are out?

They're approved. They don't just magically appear on steam after that. It's a process getting your game ready for Steam.

I saw someone say in the Steam thread that McPixel is in the Steam registry already though, so wheels are turning.

Games in this section have received a lot of community support. The next step for these games is for the developer to send Valve a build of the game and start working with us. A game might exist in this state for some time while the developer continues working, polishes the game, and/or works on marketing and plans for the launch.

cross-posting from the Steam thread:

Hey my good friends at Ironhide games just put up Kingdom Rush up on greenlight.

Maybe you know the game since it was a top selling app on iOS for quite a while and Ron Gilbert and Felicia Day were raving about it on twitter.

If it passes it would be the first Uruguayan game on Steam, so that's pretty cool.

It's basically a tower defense game but with some twists and a nice art style.

it's good, vote it dudes. They put up a nice video just for this and all.

Looks like Slender: Source has been renamed to "Faceless", presumably clearing whatever hurdle remained to get it on Steam.

What do you think about T.E.C. 3001. Does our game have chance on greenlight?

I enjoyed the game quite a bit on XBLIG. Even if you guys don't make it on Steam (I upvoted, btw), I hope you'll consider releasing the PC version just in case Microsoft deprecates XNA/XBLIG with future consoles. Cheers.

Kingdom Rush is the best TD game I played last year, and I play quite a lot of them. So good *_*
Salsa, do you know something about a sequel, btw?

If we don't make on Steam desura is an option. Pc of T.E.C. version will be released one way or other :) We are also considering iPad version.

I gave some of my upvotes to games which don't even make it to 1%. Maybe I should start reconsidering some of my choices.
  1. Ballistic Bonbon: the music and the visual effects in the trailer are not appealing.
  2. BasketBelle
  3. Faerie Alchemy
  4. Osy Osmosis: annoying sounds and voices, unprofessionnal selection screen, I can understand the downvotes, although the game looks inspired by Osmos, which is a good thing.
  5. Retention
  6. Shadows on the Vatican Act I: Greed
  7. Smiles HD: a threadbare concept, like Chuzzle, etc., but with annoying sounds.
  8. The Sea Will Claim Everything: a really deep game indeed.
  9. Vizati

Here is some games I upvoted for.

Postal 2 Complete
SuperPower 2

Oh yeah there might be a possible online free roam multiplayer for Postal 2 Complete.

I really loved SuperPower 2 but sadly I lost my disk. I would definitely buy the steam version if they fix all the annoying drm crap.

Very loosely relevant, but myself (Jason @ Breakfall) and another developer (Evan and Matt from SnowedIn) got a little time on the front page of the Business & Technology section of our local paper, the Ottawa Citizen, to talk about Greenlight. Here's the digital version of the article, though it doesn't have a screen of our game like the paper copy

All us Greenlighters in here are in the soup together! High fives all around to the GAF devs in here - keep getting the word out and don't give up. A special double-down high-five to any Ottawa lurkers in here, too! ;)

Basketbelle seems so interisting in the trailers, I don't know why it is not getting more votes. :( Retention reminds me of Trauma (which I liked) and I really doubt that something like that will ever get greenlighted. I'm expecting Valve to do something soon about niche genres because if they don't, the indie section soon will have less variety than there is now.

Next round of 10 selections on October 15:

Today's update to Steam Greenlight brings a handful of changes and additions for fans and developers.

First, we heard from both developers and gamers that it was hard to have a meaningful conversation about a Greenlight game within the often lengthy comment section on the page. So starting today, each listing in Steam Greenlight will also have a dedicated discussion area where fans can ask questions, post feedback, and start conversations around the game.

For developers, we're adding more data on weekly voting for their title and greater visibility about their status within the Greenlight process.

Developers can now see a graph showing their up-vote traffic for each day of the past week, and compare it with the average votes for top-ranked games.

Next, we've made changes to help give developers a better idea of how their titles are progressing to being Greenlit. For games in the Top 100 ranking, devs will now see their specific numerical ranking. For games below the top 100, they will see their progress toward top 100.

And finally, mark your calendars for October 15. On that date, we'll be announcing at least 10 of the next games that the community has voted up and moving them to the 'Greenlit' section. Make sure you get your votes in and make your voice count.

Head on over to the Greenlight discussions to let us know what you think about these updates, and be sure to join the Official Group for the latest news and announcements.

Other minor updates of note:
- Added a section to the front page of the Steam store to promote Steam Greenlight
- Added a new tab to Greenlight item detail pages to list out more comments per-page

I assume that Slender: Source Faceless will make it in this round since they've changed their apparently offending name.

The bottom half of the next 10 is really close though -- I hope Octodad makes it, that and McPixel are ones that I'm really intrigued by. Not too interested in all of these zombie/horror games.
