Resident Evil 6 - Review Thread | Activist Reviews and the Hate Patrol Destroy Truth™

Thank you, I wanted to give a bit more in depth review then some of these others.
You just have an excellent review style in general -- detailed and intellectually honest, but you clearly love games and haven't become jaded by them, which is great. :) I looked through your reviews playlist, something I virtually never do with YouTube personalities. Hope you keep it up. :)

Well thanks again! I'll keep it up! Stopped for awhile but going strong now. :) Hope to see what others think of RE6 come tonight and tomorrow!

some people seem to think reviewers have a an agenda against resident evil and japanese developers and said reviewers are trying to destroy the TRUTH™ that this is actually a good game
Those darn racists and their pseudo-valid criticisms

Huh. Does a Mod think that? Or is that a Mod mocking these people?

If I actually felt like throwing down the money I'd play through this game and review it. I'm a good reviewer and could make a fair assessment (though admittedly I'm usually in favor of Japanese-developed games). Still if nothing else I'd at least be able to determine if there's an actual point to all this controversy.

It's not worth it though. $60 just to see what the deal is would only satisfy my ego (Only RE I've ever really enjoyed was part 4 and 5's Mercenaries mode).

EDIT: Watched a random stream running RE6 and the first thing I saw was an interactive cutscene straight out of Call of Duty...ugh.

why the hell is the panda that way around?

finished leon's campaign and i'm currently playing chris's campaign. It obliterates RE5 with ease, graphically speaking.

Yea we could tell that with the demo. But how is the actual gameplay? I'm actually really interested in the story this time around cause of the 4 different campaigns and how it all comes together. Does the end of Leon's campaign make you want to play the others, so you can see the story fleshed out?

wtf? I dont understand? Someone is praising PG and thrashing Capcom, and Kamiya gets all angry and offended? Am I missing something here?

Trashing his former employer, where he still has friends and people he respects, wouldn't sit totally well with most people, especially coming from people who seem to have the mental capacity of a goat. He also has to put up with those comments daily. He doesn't much care for them.

um didnt capcom bring in a lot of non-japanese devs on this one? Capcoms stupid crap ruined this game. The same way they ruined RE5 and the crappy Revelations game we ended up with.

So, I just discovered this exists. I was dumbfounded at the Metascore and had to find what the fuss was about. I consider RE4 one of the greatest games ever made. I can't believe we are at this point just a few short years later. I was hoping this was exaggerated but after having played the demo -- wow. I can't even.

Absolutely brilliant.

I'm seeing more people saying that these rabid defenders exist than actually see them. The topic title was made as a joke from an earlier conversation that if people who enjoy the game are labelled as a defense force, what does that make the people coming here to hate? Expanded from there.

Well what do you expect when you lose the lead director? Not to mention the completely strange way Capcom has been running the last few years.

I've been on a complete media blackout. I knew this game was announced a few months ago. And here I am. I couldn't ignore the fact this thread got so large -- I knew something was up.

It's still a little odd cause they were one of the few Japanese developers that wasn't left a clueless mess with the advent of HD gaming. Honestly, I expected RE6 to disappoint survival-horror purists, but still be a blast for everyone else that didn't mind RE5, but it sounds like a massive, bloated trainwreck.

Yeah... It just really sucks to see whats happened to this series. The whole way Capcom has been about making it into a "movie blockbuster" type of game that has no real survival elements anymore. It's like they took everything that was wrong and bad about RE5 and expanded on it.

It has less to do with the loss of golden boy Mikami and more to do with the loss of many different developers who contributed to the series. Kawamura, Aoyama, Kato, Kamiya, Shibata, etc.

They came in with a lot of money and Inafune was doing great things for them. The first Dead Rising and Lost Planet are still the best games they made this generation. It started to go downhill with DMC4, they shouldn't have even tried to make it if they didn't have the passion for it. Closing Clover Studios and losing all that talent was their biggest mistake. Then trying to continue their games without the passion of the original creators has definitely not worked out.

Actually I don't even think that is the problem. They just failed miserably to pull this off as it seems.

demo was so-so, glad i rented it. I was kinda excited about it but i really didnt care for the Chris level at all in the demo. Loved the Leon part though....guess ill really find out when it gets here in the mail

Definitly. A big loss of talent has been the biggest downfall of Capcom. Its like someone came in and was way too cocky, didn't care about the creators or making a positive work environment and just thought they could get away making money off all the big name games the fans love.

Are you sure they are there at all anywhere? Resi5 had censored decapitations everywhere.

Playing co-op locally here between a US 360 and a Japanese one, and we're seeing heads popping on the US 360. On the Japanese 360, we just hear the head pop noise and see the particles, but the head stays.

Ah okay, good to know they didn't censor that stuff in the U.S.

The graphic is actually pretty good and varied IMO. Providing you actually calibrated your TV properly (using proper calibration method as opposed to using RE6's pathetic calibration screen) and set your PS3's RGB values to limited instead of full because the later will crush blacks.

But I'm serious when I say the graphic is pretty good. Quite a lot of polygons, decent anti-aliasing. And I'm pretty fussy about this because I sold my copy of TTT2 because I couldn't stand the jaggy fest on that game. But RE6 has decent amount of anti-aliasing making the game looks pretty good on my HDTV.

The facial models and lighting look good, the AA is good (as said), and the environments are pretty busy. Not a bad looking game, but pretty jarring after playing a bunch of RE5 at 1080p and 60fps. Lots of sub-30fps, too.

From an outside perspective, never been a RE fan, I found the RE6 development approach of multiple teams making multiple storylines intriguing to see come to fruition. I had many doubts that it could work because it may come across like a Frankenstein type of game rather than a cohesive effort. Sure enough a lot of the complaints seem to stem from the disjointed nature of each campaign. It's the reason you don't see movies created in 4 parts under 4 different directors very often, and when it happens those typically get complaints as well. Hopefully this is the last attempt at something like this. Games like movies, like music, like a good book even, need a singular visionary/director to guide the process. Something it seems RE6 could have benefited from having. Or does Capcom have anymore great talent to lead such a project? Serious question I don't follow the internal history of Capcom, but it seems they have lost a lot of people.

Might come across like that, but people ITT are treating it like the AIDS quilt!
