Then why did you try to?
Well, they know...now.
Then why did you try to?
Two things:
1. Shareholders don't want you to make a bad game, because bad games don't sell.
2. Resident Evil 6 is not a bad game, not by a long shot. It's not perfect, but it's definitely not bad.
I'm a fan and I like what they are doing with it.
But Famitsu gave it a 39/40, what game were they playing?
Fuck... Played a few hours... Ya, it pretty much fucking sucks ass. I made posts up and down the demo thread saying to wait for the final release to unleash judgment upon it.
Shitty demo impressions held through to final product.
=(
Nah, the game pretty much blows. It's like the definition of high-budget mediocrity with no focus or vision.Eh been playing this game going completely blind as I didn't visit any GAF thread or seen media about it, and HOLY CRAP at the reception! First time it actually makes me think it's some kind of conspirancy or something.

Nope.
Except it does.

This is a great article. Everyone should give it a read, and watch that Conan video again. A real eye opener.
I have to disagree. This article is an overly academic deconstruction of art. Why should a game be believable? Does that necessarily make it more fun?
I think there are a lot of very famous games we could point to that are not believable, but boat loads of fun.
I get what the writer is trying to do with the article, and his/ her points are well thought out when targeting Resident Evil 6 as a mish mash of gameplay / atmospheric ideas that do not work well in concert. But critiquing a game because you can't go through every path, IMO, should not be made out to be the central problem when there are so many games, Resident Evil 6 included (from what I've played), where this is not the case.
Normally the hate for a title is stronger but I'm seeing a lot of love for RE6. I don't know whether it's because the game is genuinely good or that Capcom fanboys really are that sheepish.
Regardless of what you think, being blocked by a chair is stupid. I don't care if other areas are more open, a chair should not be blocking your path.
Stay consistent.

Capcom has fanboi?.
This has been an issue with videogames forever. There are limitations to resources that, regardless of artistic direction, one cannot rectify.
Make no mistake -- Resident Evil 6 seems far less a Resident Evil game than the older games. And atmosphere is important. But the ability to walk every path and every direction has been executed well in very few games, and the games in which it was executed were wholely different types of games than Resident Evil 6 is trying to be, are they not?
I think Tom Chick delayed his review to ensure he gave it the lowest score.

rofl he has the wrong mentality! if he played ity like dark souls he would think it is the best game ever! this is just a noob he should at least put in 5 hours to learn the game!I think Tom Chick delayed his review to ensure he gave it the lowest score.

It's silly that reviewers are using this game as an outlet instead of trying to actually rate the game properly.

Yes they do and the most fierce and loyal fanbase I have ever seen. I was amongst them I know how hardcore they can get.

Oh suddenly people's opinions don't matter if it's not positive huh?
Noted.

No, it's really not. You didn't like it perhaps, and I can see that. But the game does not blow, nor does it have zero focus or vision. It's a game with a pretty steep learning curve and it has almost no hand holding insofar as teaching you the moves available to you. Its FOV is pretty bad and the lack of ammo gets annoying sometimes. But the game is tons of fun, the graphics are great, cutscenes and presentation are top notch, and it's not a bad game by any stretch.
Go into the OT and you will find plenty of people who like it. The general thread seems to be, people who put in the time to learn the intricacies of the combat and movement mechanics end up liking it a lot more than their initial impression, with some people who even hated the demo liking the final game. Sure you didn't like the game, and that's OK. But to pretend that it is a completely terrible game with no redeeming features is disingenuous.
This winds up being not only an excellent critique of Resident Evil 6, but also of many of the things we take for granted in triple-A games as a whole.

You know what's silly? The videogame journalism/review culture. Whatever deviation happens from the current way things are and no matter what the reason might be, it's all for the better. There is literally nothing good about how games are scored and handled as of now. It's a joke that we can all laugh at after some amount of time passes.
I find it funny how people with Capcom game avatars are the ones who are being really defensive XD Capcom will never be be a better game company because of such enablers.
Looks like you're reading what you want to read.
I don't care how you slice it, RE6 does not deserve a rating of less than a 5 by the standards of reviews today. All of a sudden, reviewers grow a pair of balls and start bashing the thing. RE6 is rife with flaws and questionable design choices, but the game doesn't deserve the scores its been getting... even when judged by the standards of previous RE titles.
It seems to me that reviewers, who have long since destroyed their own reputations, are trying to earn some "street cred" by overly bashing a disappointing sequel in an effort to enforce change. But that's not a reviewers job. It never has been and it never will be.

I actually pretty much hate Capcom right now. Even still, RE6 is not a 5.0 game.
