The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Mod Discussion and News [Creation Kit released]

continuing with the theme of crazy mods is Aethernautics - A Space Travel Mod

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23260

Adds a pretty neat 1-2 hour quest, and you can reactivate a space ship and claim it as your home. You can't fly it though, but you can use it to call down orbital strikes to kill enemies. You also will find 5 new. A fun mod, light-hearted mod with some good humor in it too (journals/quest that is).

I made a video thats in the video tab of the mod page, for those that are interested in a brief overlook of the mod, since the mod description is kinda lacking.

Going insane over here. Im trying to get ENB to work. But everytime I copy over the ENB d3d9.dll file the game just exits when I start the game. If I take away and copy the original then it works again.

Do anyone know here what might be the problem and how to solve it, then I would be very grateful.

The game is bought on steam if that helps.
My specs:

Nvidia 670
Intel 2500k 4.3 Ghz
8gb ram
Windows 7

Have tried the following:

v0012 kage d3d9.dll (earlier version)
Back-up game installed (Thought maybe it was a steam issue with d3d9.dll file)
Run it as administrator

ENB doesn't work with the likes of D3DOverrider and EVGA Precision, try disabling any similar programs.

More or less finished now with installing mods and trying them out. Fells and looks like a whole new game after these mods. So beutiful to look at and so much more fun to play than when it was released.

Yeah its steam :P

Is there a specific enb setting that is best overall? I just built a gaming pc few months ago and hope to be able to finally play skyrim this way

Countervibe ENB is one of my favorites

My video of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ig-CyMukzcU
DL it here http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21912

Enhanced Vanilla ENB is also a good one (no changes to colors, so vanilla skyrim lighting yet you have DoF, SSAO, fixed shadows, and godrays)

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17326

For almost all my other videos I use Enhanced Vanilla ENB. When I play Skyrim without recording, I usually turn on Countervibe ENB

I am currently running I5 3570k@3.40Ghz with 8gb of ram and 560ti 1gb card would that be able to handle enb?

Yes, you should be fine =)

1G 560 TI though might make high polycount/high texture packs hard on your rig though

If really necessary, just tone down your resolution to like 1600x900 - instead of 1920x1080 if performance is bad

install in this order

Textures:
Skyrim Realistic Overhaul
ReAL Sun
W.A.T.E.R.
Lush trees
Lush Grass
Vurts Floral overhaul
aMidianBorn armor retextures - check the author's download page from this video in the video description:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCx114bBQZo

Immersion mods (I think you can only use one of these at a time)
SKYRE - total overhaul of the game, havent tried it myself
ASIS - adds more spawns
Frostfall - survival elements added to skyrim, pretty neat

Other good mods
Crimson Tide
Immersive Armors - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OV5MYTdau8
Apocalypse Spell Package

let me know if you have any questions =)

Sorry for the really delayed reply! Thank you, I can't wait to get all of these installed :)

Does anyone have a link to a Lightning (FFXIII) character mod? I see a lot of videos on YouTube but can't seem to find a link to a working one.

Set ipresentinterval=1 to 0 in the Skyrimprefs.ini

although, I wouldn't recommend it since game breaking bugs happen hours later if you change it to 0

Please elucidate. Does this mean you run into a memory leak or does it screw up your saves? Memory leaks are fine... I can always relaunch the game. Used to doing this for FO3/NV.

setting it to 0 will cause quests and other events that depend on it for some reason to bug out. I can't remember much since that was back in like November/early December. I'd research more into on the steam forums or bethsofts or the nexus' forums because I may be wrong.

But, I remember everyone suggesting to turn to 0. After 2-3 weeks of play, game breaking bugs were happening (CTDs every 5min, stuff like that) - and it was deduced to probably be ipresentinterval=0 at fault. That was like late November, early december

Is there any kind of mod that will let you bite people via sneak attack or something similar? I hate being a vampire and only biting someone while they sleep or while I am in lord form

Okay this sounds really stupid but right now my Skyrim is heavily modded so if I grab Dawnguard will that overwrite/invalidate any mod files?

This
, Belua Sanguinare Revisited, extremely complex and polished mod for vampires, has a ton of things, and its very customizable. IMO the best vampire mod for Skyrim. And it allows you to bite people sneaking, and also you have a combat bite when they fall down. Give it a try at least, I think you'll like it :)

EDIT LOL, I didn't see insane0hflex post, but the mod is updated regularly and it has 100% compatibility with Dawnguard.

I'm looking to get back into Skyrim- SKYRE sounds cool, but is there anything that replaces the random loot with hand-placed stuff, or gets rid of level scaling near-entirely?

MorrowLoot said:
-Orcish equipment is carried by, get this, orcs.

Yep, that definitely looks like exactly what I wanted. Pity about the other thing, but I can just about stomach Skyrim's monster level scaling system, and a variety of monsters might disguise it a bit. Thanks a lot.

Downloaded a bunch of mods and then I couldn't get past the main menu. "WET.somethingsomething is missing" or something like that. Does it have something to do with W.A.T.E.R.?

Uninstalled mods from NMM. That didn't help, so I deleted all the mods from NMM and got into game but I was buggy. I deleted Skyrim and am downloading it again.

Maybe Mod Organizer would work better? I won't need NMM if I have Mod Organizer, right?

Help me, GAF! Is there a texture mod that replaces these ugly low resolution textures?
I just yesterday installed some mods that improves the snow and ice textures. They're two separate mods. I don't remember the names. I'm not at home either but they were in the Steam Workshop.

No.

Nexus Mod Manager is best. Give me a list of your mods and I'll be able to solve the problem for you.

What probably happened is you had a mod called GET WET (its an optional feature in WATER) conflict with someother mod, perhaps one that you didn't install with NMM.

I already deleted NMM and all the mods I had and I'm now using MO. I'll watch for a few days how it fares.

Any reason NMM is better than MO? More stable or...? I find where I could change the load order in NMM.

I haven't used MO, but NMM does everything you need it to do.

Install mods automatically, download them for you with a click of Download with manager on the mods page, etc.

For sorting your load order, use boss

BOSS - Better Oblivion Sorting Software

works for Skyrim too of course.

One of these days I'm gonna bite on this on PC. I can't get into this on 360 anymore, but this looks so much more fun...

You have no idea how much better it is =)

I'd buy it whenever you can, maybe this Thanksgiving or Winter sale for 50% off or more. The mods really make Skyrim shine. ENB configs adding Depth of Field, fixing shadows, SSAO, anti-aliasing, textures, visuals, spell mods, house mods, npc followers, etc.

I still find myself enjoying just walking around after 250 hours of Skyrim (i usually turn combat off though, 200+ hours of Skyrim's combat gets old)

Skyrim is on 39% (cost's 29.50) sale on GMG and with this code: GMG25-EVFWS-4Z4ZN, you can get the price down to 22.50. That's cheaper than the game was during the Steam summer sale.

MO does that too. I also had weird problem with NMM where everytime I opened NMM all my mods were unchecked and I couldn't check them. And then the NMM wouldn't open, gave me some target error.

The one con I see MO having is that I have to use it to launch the game, otherwise mods won't work. But MO still gives me Steam overlay.

Edit. Now that I have used MO for some time it seems to be a bit more hassle free with uninstalling mods than NMM. MO doesn't replace any or install anything into to Skyrim Data folder so it's super easy to remove mods that don't work.

I guess Skyrim 2K HD mod and WATER don't really jive together. Started getting CTDs and deleting WATER fixed that.

Nah, that cant be the problem.
2K is textures only and therefore kinda cant cause CTD just some graphical glitches (that is unless you run out of VRAM).
WATER however is incompatible with many mods (not texture mods tho) and should be (almost) last in your load order and is not to be used with any other water mods.

Well, I had it pretty high in my load order, probably 3rd and I have 10 mods. Maybe it was Weathers of Tamriel? I don't know if that changes any water stuff. But I already deleted the mod.

Enemies shouldn't regent their health, right? I do one hit and they start regening their health faster than my character. I don't have any mods that affects health regen, I have Deadly Combat mod but should only lower health/increase damage.

Edit. Helmet Toggle - Show/Hide mod caused the health regenarion, oddly enough...

This may be a stupid question. I'm using SkyRe, which incorporates Heavy Armory. Heavy Armory classifies spears/glaives as swords for perks. However, SkyRe adds perks for glaives. Am I correct in assuming that sword perks would no longer apply to spears/glaives in this case?

glaives that come with SkyRe and/or have compatibility patches for SkyRe will work under the new perks for glaives.

When the weapon you comes from a mod without compatibility patch it will most probably not be recognized as a glaive and instead as a sword (/warhammer/...).

Other than that I do think you are right in assuming that sword and spear perks do not stack.

Any good mods for pretty guys? I got pretty girls, but I want to make a pretty boy.

depends on what you call a pretty guy, I use better males (nsfw) with the hairy and dirty version and geonox faces because I like a somewhat realistc look.

However there are many options to choose from so Im sure you will find something you like, just no skinny guys because that would not go very well with the armor in Skyrim.

Well the one complication is that the glaives that come from SkyRe also come from Heavy Armory. SkyRe incorporates HA into its total "package" and has a plugin that sits on top of the original mod. I'm gonna assume only the glaive perks apply, though.

Random Alternate Start

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=102287878

It removes the intro sequence and you dont have to do the intro dungeon when you create a new character.

Instead you instantly drop to the char creation menu and when you are done you are send randomly to one of nearly 500 starting points. So you will never start Skyrim from the same place again.

Its great when you want to make just a Thief char or just a Assasin for the Dark Brotherhood. You can also just ignore the Main Quest and do whatever you want.

can somebody recommend mods that improve stealth and remove level/loot scaling? Also some cool new dungeons would be cool.

So I've recently decided to finally play this. Had a quick mess around with vanilla on ultra settings and everything is smooth at 60fps. I'm running an i5 2500k at 4.5 ghz, 8gb ram and gtx 580.

I've added a few mods now and have a problem. With all the mods listed below I can still maintain 60fps except a lot of the time if i turn in a new direction the frame rate will drop (up to maybe 20 frames) and then a second later climb back to 60. Here is an example where I have turned and the fps dropped:

tesv2012-10-1723-49-38iz8u.jpg

Then a second later it climbs back up (same scene):

tesv2012-10-1723-50-0q1xey.jpg

This is happening all over the place. Wish I installed one mod at a time and tested :(
Its very annoying because clearly it can run at 60 fps, at no point does it stay at the low frame rate, always goes back up.

Any ideas what could cause this? The stutters are making it unplayable.
