Care to explain? I don't see how holding back specs negates any advantages that releasing them would. Actually, I could argue it's worse. Without specs, no baseline is set which then the consumer, is free to go off on their own tangent on what they think the power is. Or, they consult with rumors to get an idea.
You're kidding me.
My last point when I mentioned the GC bit was showing how releasing hasn't helped them. That's not anecdotal a lot of people despite having the proof in games believed what they wanted. GC was there worse system and compared to what we know about n64 developement and specs has far more out there about the process devs at times used. This isn't going change that many minds. Wii was shit in specs and sold better than any nintendo console despite that fact that all of the 2d and 3d consoles before it had for more details on the subject.
The consumers who specs really matter for have already made up their mind. There is way bigger crowd of consumers who doesn't care and then there are just the pathetic trolls.
I will say it over and over. Nintendo, sony, or ms focus should always be on helping themselves and developers getting the most of their systems. Screw numbers the last 2 console architectures nintendo has used has shown whether you do or don't have power for the time, if devs don't use it means nothing.
