I didn't say the twist is the only thing, however, part of the fun of those films is then watching them after the fact and noticing other elements.

Your argument is severely flawed and boils down to "I don't care so you shouldn't either." Just stop. It is not okay to spoil something for another person, ever. Especially when you have 3700 people watching your stream.

I totally agree, but robbing people of that initial reaction or emotion to the twist or revelation is also unfortunate. Why present someone 95% of a work when you can present them with 100% ?

and if you didn't know the twists you could watch them twice and get even more out of them...
 
The writer of the story probably didn't want the audience to know the spoilers beforehand too. When consuming entertainment I normally like to stick by what the author intended for us to experience.

He was right on this one though. For those 2 particular films, being spoiled would probably take away from the moment. Piecing it all together as it is revealed, with the music and whatever visual imagery they might have snuck in there wouldn't be the same if you were expecting it.

What you're mentioning is something I'd like to experience on a subsequent viewing.

Your argument is basically non-existent and boils down to "I care, so you should as well".

I don't agree that it is a bad thing to spoil an entertainment product if we get interesting discussion out of it. Most gaming podcasts regularly do not critique interesting elements of games in fear of someone being offended by spoilers.

In my opinion, people shouldn't be so afraid of knowing story beats, they might get more out of an experience going in informed.

As long as you don't extend your opinion into callously spoiling stories, like Ryan just did, because you think everyone else thinks or should think like you.
 
I feel like this is some kind of meta-commentary of the Internet's lack of self-control, clicking on a video labelled Assassin's Creed III and then spoiling it to hell.

I'm sure I could make the time to watch movies multiple times, but why would I? There's such a huge backlog of interesting movies that I find it hard to do this.

And I'd rather watch GiantBomb content than a film for a second time.
 
The common courtesy is to warn before spoiling, especially this close to release. It takes virtually no effort. I don't give a shit but I'm considerate enough of others to give people the opportunity to go in unspoiled if they choose.

I agree, but I think people are entitled to a reasonable expectation of not being spoiled if they wish. TNT has never been the place for "interesting discussion."

They have a podcast for that. If Ryan wants to talk AC3 he should do it there. In fact I was pretty disappointed about how little AC3 talk there was this week. They just kind of passed over it

I care about people, but I don't care about people that get all bent out of shape over nothing on internet forums.

But: I can understand people not wanting to get "spoiled", I just find it very hurtful to reasonable discussion on the net.
 
There's nothing wrong with people complaining about spoilers when the game isn't even a week old.

There's a discussion to be had about this subject, but this isn't the thread or occasion for it.

If you were talking about a game that has been out for a few months I would completely agree with you, however, the game came out two fuckin' days ago, and isn't even out yet on PC.
 
i think the biggest issue was Ryan talking about AC3 during the NFS segment. should've saved that for his own segment instead. at least people wouldn't be blindsided.

It was probably too early to talk about AC3 (three-six months seem like a reasonable "grace period" for open, "non-warned" spoiler talk). I fully accept that for many people it was a bigger deal than for me, Ryan probably should have tempered it a bit.

I've had speed issues in the past few days as well, especially video downloads were slowing to a crawl at times.

BTW: Now I feel silly about this whole "spoilers" argument, I expressed myself quite a bit more offensively than I reasonably should have. It isn't my intention to condemn or attack you guys and gals for caring about plot details.

The point was some enjoy it, so don't be a dick and spoil stuff.

Edit : NP duder. I really don't care about AC spoilers either, the whole story, plot and... Really everything about it is fucking dumb anyway.

You're probably asking the wrong forum. The people you're describing are going to be the most active in their community. Sure, there's going to be crossover but my guess is that people who edit the wiki and do the quests are going to be discussing the content in the comments sections and on Giant Bomb forums.

Not so subtle hints at the ending. Made even worse if you looked at the chat, which I can't fault the crew for, but still unfortunate.

No, and in hindsight I could see how you could take what they said as just innocent speculation about the future of the franchise, but seeing the reaction in the chat kinda cemented it. Hopefully others were naive enough to remain unspoiled.

He should have gotten a clue when Jeff was screaming "WHAT?!" at him.
 
It's especially weird too considering how much they went out of their way to avoid spoiling the earlier games even years after the fact because Brad's so far behind.
 
I was wondering why Ryan was talking about that. He said that it was something that Ubisoft had mentioned about this "trilogy" of AC games. But it seems like they never described what he was talking about (or talking around) based on the reactions in here and by Jeff.

such a weird place to bring up spoilers.
