Wii U's Nintendo TVii, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, and Netflix pushed to Dec.

Does wiiU have a connect24 or spotpass equivalent to push notifications when system updates or other things are available?

Not surprising. They alway said it would be rolled out over time not there day one. I'm just glad it will be on the system sooner rather then later. Just a few weeks away.

Whats that first part talking about? Patch necessary for system to support DLC?

Maybe the games DLC won't even be ready before then? I mean NSMBU, BLOPS 2, and the like probably won't have day 1 maps or anything. And the old ports have everything on the disc.

Not surprising. I knew something like this would happen. It seems like Nintendo is always in a rush or just bad at planning. Though this delay pales in comparison to the 3 month wait for the 3ds eshop and browser.

You said Miiverse wouldn't be available from Day 1. Not TVii.

I've talked about some other functions also, like the wii emulator (but this should be available through an update) on IRC, i posted a log somewhere :)

Basically, the OS third-parties got until very recently was deprived of a lot of services, they received a new one, but there are still a good bunch missing. Hopefully, most of the interesting stuff will be unlocked with the day one patch :)

I said it too. I also said I wouldn't be surprised if MiiVerse got pushed back a couple of weeks. We might get a bare bones version of it day one, but I bet the full features will be delayed.

And people laughed at me when I said it. But I said it a couple of months ago. Does that make me a credible source like you ideaman? ;)

well, bare bones version day one =/= no third-party integration (the latter is more specific)

But you have an awesome avatar so that's cool, and who laughed at you, we'll revenge you !

Seriously, if digital games can't be purchased and installed on my ext HDD day 1 I'll be fucking pissed.

Nintendo just today updated their day 1 list (it's still incomplete but they marked some games for launch), so I think that's in. Look at their recent ND videos, they mention the Network and eShop downloads, but not TVii or any apps. I think the game stuff is ready but the entertainment stuff is delayed.

ok, makes sense.

Guys, Nintendo is going to release updates and games over the next few years. And these updates and games are not present now, and you have to wait for them (maybe years). It's best that you all wait until the end of the Wii U cycle before you buy it because it isn't a finished product yet.

Apart from the BC stuffs it's not that important, heck us PAL land gamers won't even have these features :lol

Nintendo TVii, Amazon Video, Hulu and Netflix... none of which are even supported in Australia :(

I should be surprised but yeah... Nintendo's a bit slow at times. Good to know eShop and Miiverse will be there day one as I'm planning to buy a couple of digital titles.

Typical Nintendo, but not a big deal to me. TVii is a joke until it can support more than a Tivo(who still uses Tivo?) and the other services are readily available on my 360. As long as Miiverse and the E Shop are up, I don't care.

There you go early adopters, another win for you guys. Dunno which one tops the list for 'dumbest people' award. Early adopters or undecided voters.

But the Wii emulator is there day 1, so...

Still, I'm searching Nintendo PR saying TVii would have been day one, but I'm not finding anything.

Yeah, fortunately, but through an update, so it confirms it wasn't available until then to those who got access to the OS.

For the topic, i really hope they will secure partnerships with content broadcasting in Europe to have this feature, tired of all those japan-only or usa-only thingies ><

Called it weeks ago that Nintendo would be shipping an incomplete OS... Oh Nintendo, at least you don't disappoint on disappointing predictions coming true...

Still.... Mario games, I'll still be picking mine up at midnight.

Right, so we still don't know unless you can find the source.

That's extremely disappointing. Im glad they are continuing to work out whatever problems NintendoTVii might still have, but this should have be available day one, no excuses.

Surely it will be up before Christmas though.
:/

Ah, I was looking forward to this on day one. All is fine if I can still download and install downloadable games. I switched my NSMBU preorder at Game Stop to ZombiU since I decided to just download Mario.

The TVii delay isn't a huge deal to me, but I still can't understand how they can't launch with one of their most touted features already enabled.

Probably just a case of no (original-Wii) System Menu software to boot to until the update. I doubt there's significant software emulation going on.

Why?
There's plenty of precedent for consoles launching without features they would later have. The 360 and PS3 have had tonnes of cumulative and improving updates.

Also... it's a month. Meh.

Bummer, but does this mean the gamepad can still be used as a universal tv remote? Reviewers have praised that a lot.

Since they have been using it as a remote before the update that even brings BC.. yes.

(edit) As for being "dumb" to early adopt... New 2D mario game being heralded as the best one in decades by most gaming press.... Yep, still a good launch for me.

Gaming is still the main feature of my gaming consoles.

Lol don't kid yourself. I'll be on 12/31/12 at 11:59 pm pst

Bummer. I promised my fiancé that I wouldn't play until she got off from work so we could play together and I was going to play around with TVii during the football game. Oh well, no biggie. Funny to see the overreactions though. And by that I mean the people calling out the "haters". All I see is indifference and slight disappointment, nobody is losing their shit lol.
