Holy fuck. I'm on board for this crazy fucking story arc.

All of it.

Villain sucked but the Clara stuff was brilliant. Not my fave Christmas Special but it's up there.

From here on out - SPOILERS!

I'm wondering if Oswin will die every episode.

Edit: Fuck. I forgot to wait and see if there was a preview for the rest of Series 7!

I wondered that... it'll be painful to watch... but man watch the Dr run!

Oh shit me too! Anyone record it!

Goddamn, I thought I was out after how shit the last series was. But I'm sold again, if the next series has the writing and pacing of that special it'll basically fix all the issues I had.

Love that the new title sequence and TARDIS interior (and I think, music?) are clearly more classic-Who-inspired. They're not exactly iconic, but they (mostly) seem to get closer with every revision.

Who is Clara?

Another precocious girl from contemporary times, by the looks of it. I was interested in her character until that bit.

I'm so happy they didn't do what I expected and make another River Song character. Ie: One they can't kill off because you've already seen them die.
Instead she's just a weird paradox, which is way more interesting!

Fun episode, looking forward to Clara. Glad they got rid of Amy, damn did she get on my nerves.

Loved her to start with, last series (first half of this series I guess?) completely ruined her though. She had no reason to be there other than the new Companion not being ready yet.

Also, if the tag fits . . . :p

Seriously she was the most annoying character in nu who imo, just cos you think differently doesn't make your opinion any more valid than mine, you'll find people who agree, like you'll find some people who thought Martha wasn't a damp Squibb of a companion, everyone sees something different.

NeoGAF rules are very clear on spoilers being fair game after the episode has aired in its home time zone. North American gaffers don't use tags after episodes air either.
Ah, fair. Thought that you spoilered things when you weren't in a spoiler thread.

come on seriously can we spoiler this shit for the Americans

If you're not in the UK you should know to avoid this thread until it's aired in your region. It's not that hard.

Yup. It aired in the UK, so if you come in here without seeing it yet you are knowingly walking into the minefield without a metal detector.

Brilliant episode. Moffat is definitely trolling the audience at this point, and it is glorious. Cannot wait for next year and the 50th Anniversary celebrations.

This... we often don't get a series for months so we cant participate if we want the season to be a surprise. At least its only a few hours for the usa

Oh Moffat, everything you touch, you destroy

No, really, every time Moffat so much as touches Microsoft Word these days several puppies will die horribly to feed his dark habits.
I'm fully convinced he will bring forth the unspeakable horrors from the sunken cities all in the name of writing more bad Doctor Who.

Didnt think it was that good until the last twenty- pacing was all over the place until then with zero progression.

Totes on board for next season. Doctor Who: The Impossible Companion.

Fun, but not great. The cloud exterior and new interior of the tardis was cool. The main adventure was pretty good until the weak finale.

I hope the "mystery" is solved soon, this is a road Moffat has only just tread with amy

following it again STRAIGHT AWAY isn't something I particularly want to watch

Really enjoyed that.

Title sequence is getting there. Its going to be full on classic by the 50th!

I am growing tired of the episodes having a lot of focus on the companion though. I grew very tired of the whole 'OMG AMY POND MYSTERY' very quickly.

Great episode and a good tease for the new season. Bit strange how the doctor essentially killed Richard E. Grant though. Looking forward to lots of Jenna in my life from now on!
Edit: new titles and new TARDIS are good too, never had a problem with change. I can imagine a lot of Americans who have jumped on board from the start of Eleven's run taking it a lot harder though. Personally I was getting a little tired of Amy although I loved her at the start, so Jenna coming in is great stuff. Especially as she is gorgeous.

Shat on last year's special from great heights, but that wasn't exactly hard.

Not sure quite how The Great Intelligence was defeated. It was almost like: "Oh, this memory thing sort of makes sense. They've planted the seeds with this and-- oh no, he's not defeated after all. I guess they really want to use a deus ex machina."

Loved it! The dreamy wintery tone early on was excellent, and though the conclusion to the main plot was a bit hand-wavey it still introduced Clara excellently. Was surprised they had him cotton on to her being Souffle Girl so quickly, but I wasn't expecting her to die again either... :lol

Strax was hilarious. I'm glad they're making actual characters out of the aliens.

I think I'm going to sit down and read The Abominable Snowman and Web of Fear books since the actual episodes no longer exist. First two appearances of The Great Intelligence.

Aside from the terrible pacing, I thought this episode was pretty good. Some hammy acting from the main baddie (especially when he comes back as an ice zombie) but I love Clara.

What I do hate is how Moffat seems to have abandoned any regard to the Silence and the DOCTOR WHO? Question from the Series 6 finale. If I were to point out one fatal flaw in Moffat's writing, it'd be his lack of good pacing. He seems to jump quickly from one idea to the next without giving the audience time to take the scene in and breathe. Which is odd, because Sherlock has fantastic pacing. Perhaps Moffat works better with longer episodes to fit in all of his extravagant ideas.
