It's all coming back to me. Haven't read up on this stuff in years. In The Web of Fear, The Great Intelligence attacks using the London Underground. I wish the entire thing still existed. :(

Aside from the terrible pacing, I thought this episode was pretty good. Some hammy acting from the main baddie (especially when he comes back as an ice zombie) but I love Clara.

What I do hate is how Moffat seems to have abandoned any regard to the Silence and the DOCTOR WHO? Question from the Series 6 finale. If I were to point out one fatal flaw in Moffat's writing, it'd be his lack of good pacing.

While it's definitely on the back-burner, at the start of the episode when the Doctor's in the coach, Vastra keeps mentioning those 'two words', then Clara asks 'doctor who?' and the Dr reponds 'a very dangerous question', so it's still definitely in play.

Hopefully Clara isn't related to Lee Harvey Oswald. It's not only the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who in November 2013.

Dun... dun... dun..!

I'm definitely happy and intrigued at the new companion. I was saddened to see the Amy and Rory go, since those were the first companions I had seen on Doctor Who. But this was a great intro (well, along with her other episode) for Clara/Oswin. Really looking forward to more!

Well that was pretty good, pacing was a bit off but apart from that it was great. Strax was pretty funny and Clara's introduction (Re-Introduction?) was fantastic. Did not see that ending coming, so, she's the female Rory, going to die everytime we see her? The new title screen was cool and the interior of the TARDIS looks... Strange, but I guess it kinda suits where the Doctor's at at the moment. All in all, it's looking good for Series 7 Part 2!

Loved her to start with, last series (first half of this series I guess?) completely ruined her though. She had no reason to be there other than the new Companion not being ready yet.

Yeah ditto, her character just became so frustrating and annoying if you ask me. Although saying that I did like the chemistry between her and the doctor.

I wasn't a huge fan of Amy, but no Amy means no Rory, and Rory was awesome.

Indeed.

Oh my god, this episode.

Moffat and co are back at the top of their game, the break has done the wonders. What a fantastic tease for whatever bug-nutty arc they're going to explore this season.

The Series 5 version of The Doctor's Wife had House as The Great Intelligence, but Moffat had Gaiman nix it, presumably to pinch it for this. Also, for those wondering, the London Underground weakness the Doctor already pointed out was exploited by The Great Intelligence and thwarted by The Doctor way back in 1968. This show!

Excellent episode. Clara is amazing. Sort of sad it's a slight cop-out on an actual period companion and it appears she'll be from the present day, but other than that, I am massively, massively pleased. Top stuff. Miles better than Amy already. Also worth noting: Clara's birthday on the Tombstone is the same day in November that the series first aired. Probably deliberate, and knowing Moffat more than just a harmless nod.

Probably quite deliberate, yeah. He's already said that they'll make sure an episode of Doctor Who will also air on November 23rd 2013, so I can't wait to see what they have in store for next year. Hope the rest of series 7 will air soon, but I'm afraid we'll have to wait until Easter again.

Curious when they'll start shooting series 8, they have to start ramping up production soon if the next series starts in fall or if they're gonna do a huge anniversary special.

That was decent. But I’m bored of almost every companion swooning over the Doctor. Also it’s getting boring seeing the Doctor lose a companion, and then becoming reluctant and miserable… until he gets a new companion. The show may be getting a little tired.

Well that was enjoyable. Some really great imagery, some decent writing, some cringe-inducing moments. A nicely campy villain, with a tie to the larger Who mythos.

-Amazing visual direction, I especially love the study that the Intelligence is operating out of.

-The Clara thing is intriguing, especially because I thought we already had the big thread for this season ("Doctor Who?") but now we also have the girl who dies over and over.

-Kind of annoyed that it looks like "real" Clara is going to be from modern day Earth though, the biggest thing I liked about what her appearance in Asylum meant was that we would finally get away from that.

-New TARDIS interior looks fantastic. Completely different in tone, a lot more science-fiction-ey, really great looking.

-I'm getting sick of "the power of emotion" as a major plot agent. Yes yes RTD had the most egregious example of this, but it feels like its come up a lot more during Moffat's run, where things are fixed by people loving each other, or, in this case, crying.

-Lizard woman and friend really annoy me. They just really do. The line where she's like "I'm a lizard woman from the beginning of time" is just....euughh. Its like they took the most annoying self-indulgent cleverness snark of the Doctor character and compressed it into its own form. River Song felt this way as well to me (especially in S5), and it seems like there's a segment of the fanbase that really likes that but man it is not me.

-The plot, while fun, was really...scattered. You have both the snowmen and the ice lady and I'm never quite clear on the relationship between the two. I think that the ice lady was a completely separate phenomenon that just so happened to occur when the Intelligence needed a human mold?

-Also I really didn't buy "mopey doesn't interfere in Earth" Doctor. The writing and the acting just can't sell what they were trying to express.

-But man, I really can't wait to see more of Clara as a companion.

Who is Oswin? I wanted to know exactly what the Silence was first. Perhaps they'll connect somehow.

Maybe. We all know the Silence kinda have to come back when the Doctor regenerates, anyway, so I'm happy to have a new mystery whilst we wait.

Cap'n Jack maybe?

Saw that suggestion in the Guardian's liveblog, but eh. He's immortal, but he doesn't have the secret to immortality (besides taking a towtruck to the TARDIS console). I'm happy to just accept it, give Sontarans are all test tube babies and probably not too hard to drum up again.

Amazing Christmas episode. I think it was mostly because of Oswin. Can not wait to see more of that character.

Any word on when the new episodes start?

New Tardis looks awesome. Also loving the chemistry between Clara and the Doctor. I agree its a bit annoying the main clara appears to be from modern times but thats no big deal.

Oh man, this season will be great.

In Torchwood: Miracle Day, Jack accidentally makes someone immortal. Does that count?

I prefer to pretend that the piece of shit that was Miracle Day is non-canon however...

I'm in love.

As far as christmas episodes go, it was better than last year, but still pretty bad. The plot was confusing, silly and too wishy washy, It's just characteristic of the sloppy writing from the first half of the series. Hopefully the next half can be a fresh start but I can already see Moffat getting too overdramatic with the whole "Who is Clara" thing, It's neat at first but then the show just becomes a string of dramatic reveals with subpar filler inbetween. However, There's another Neil Gaiman episode next year and that was the saving grace of the overworked Series 6.

However, I really liked the aesthetic of this episode, They are really good at Victorian christmas (I imagine because it's cheap and easy to write). But they really went all out on the feel of the show, I especially loved the stairs to the tardis. However, The new tardis looks like cgi shit. They've put way too much cgi into it, It always looks better with a more material feel and whilst there's still the console It just doesn't feel like a proper room anymore, more like half a room with the rest added in CGI. I'm also not sure why the Tardis needed to change.

The new opening - Excellent.

The new companion - Would've preferred the victorian one to the modern one we're apparently getting.

Next half - I'm not sure how much of it I'm looking forward to, Ideally this could be a fresh start and It would go back to series 5. But, that's not going to happen.

Future Oswin > all. That dress, man.

That would be good, Basically a companion that isn't from this time.

Also, Moffat, I know you don't really want to bother with all the icky details of writing but PLEASE stop having every bad guy 'feeding on your thoughts', so the little child or damsel in distress can think them away. The same applies the the Sonic Screwdriver can do everything plot device.

Yup, variations on "the power of love/thought" are getting old. It feels like every 2 or 3 episodes the Doctor's solution to the problem is to grip someone by the shoulders and say "you must/must not think about X"

Loved the episode. Clara was great, and I was legitimately shocked when she died....again. I thought she was going to tie into the original Oswin, not be a second death. And I like that she's not exactly like Rory. It seems like she's reincarnating or something since she doesn't remember the Doctor exactly.

The only thing I'm disappointed in is that it seems like the Clara that's going to be the actual companion is another modern girl. We had future half-Dalek Clara and 19th century Victorian Clara, why do we have to have ANOTHER modern companion? C'mon Moffat, I want to see a non-present day companion in the new Who.

So, it's early yet, but I'm gonna lay down a bet now that Oswin is actually somehow River being reincarnated out of the computer.

Maybe Clara is simply an ever horny soul who's unfinished business on this earth is to get laid, but every time she's reincarnated she dies before she gets to bang. In the Series 7 finale the Doctor gets to bed 3 different Oswins. Geronimo.
