One time when I was little I coaxed my friend into throwing rocks at marmits living in an outcropping on this cliff. Most of the rocks were tiny and likely didn't do any damage, but on one I grabbed a huge rock the size of an adult fist or bigger and threw that down and it slammed directly into a marmits head, about 50ft down the cliff and blood started pouring out. I don't think I've ever admitted this to anyone. I think it's probably the worst thing I've ever done and if there's a hell maybe I deserve a taste of that. Watching this video makes me feel kind of sick and reminds me of that.

Obviously I don't know much about it other than sensationalistic stuff on the internet, but from that I get the picture that the Chinese culture seems to be one of low empathy.

I don't know why I watched it, but I watched it. they certainly didn't hold back, I was more than a little surprised that it was still moving by the end. can't imagine it would have lived for much longer though, given the excessive number of brutal blows it receives to the head and body.

Cultural differences, animals aren't held in same regard in every country. Same goes for Japan with dolphins, sharks and whales. Some Indians might give you the odd look when people stuff their faces with burgers.
