Knack (PS4) Announced

I applaud them for actually doing something different. Not that excited, but I'm not sure what to expect either.

Interest has officially risen.

Well, it's great to see Sony putting out a game that isn't a FPS or racer, as the first PS4 game shown at the conference.

However, this does look incredibly bland - especially compared to the Ratchet series, or indeed anything that comes out of Nintendo. It certainly doesn't look like much of a step-up from this generation. This is why art is every bit as important (if not more) than power.

That aside, gameplay is the most important thing - and Cerny definitely seems to understand what we want there (judging by the quote above).

With the Capcom Dogma-like game, this was one of the only trailer that appealed to me. I'll take fantasy and nice character design and stylization over gritty ultra-realism any day. And the guy directing it had a soothing way of talking.

Please everyone download the gamersyde trailer in HD and watch the gameplay portions in your LED tv's. It looks goddamn gorgeous!

Sold!!

If Sony were smart, they would have a tv series and/or movie lined up leading up to the release.

Conceptually, I like the idea of the particles making up your being which can explode out to cause damage. Perhaps it's your life gauge as well? Get hit, lose pieces until you're tiny Knack.

I'm extremely happy that Sony decided to show something that's not the typical AAA game as the FIRST game shown for the PS4. That it's possibly a platformer is icing on the cake. This and the new Infamous have me very interested in the PS4.

Doesn't look anything too special, but it's nice to see Sony advertising something that's neither grimdark shootbang or casual schlock.

Mark Cerny + Japanese devs have yielded some very good things before, lets not forget...

The thing I really want to know is... were those explosions and their smoke ingame or part of prerendered CGI? They looked awesome.

The hate is off charts in this thread.

I really liked, something different and old school, I hope it to be a launch title.

Yeah sure, I'll play Mecha Ganondorf's Day Out.

I didn't particularly like the design of Knack himself, but everything else looks good. Hopefully it'll be more than an oversimple tech demo launch "game."

This had me really excited because it was the only game that was shown that wasn't super serious. I really like the tone of the game from the scene they showed and also the fact that I can play it on my vita

On the stream I didn't think much of it but when checking out the youtube footage I'm sort of interested.

i thought it looked okay, i'm somewhat interested in knack. what i enjoyed the most was that it showed that their WWS are still commited to making new IPs, while still making a few sequels. knack, driveclub, kz shadow fall and infamous second son (driveclub is the only one i'm not that interested in) makes me happy.

My first reaction was it looks like a Dreamworks movie.

I wish

I thought it looked great all around, especially when they started showing gameplay footage. The creator sold me on it with the focus on fun as well. Was really excited to see a new IP and I will definitely be getting this.

Honestly, I feel for the devs. I'm sure they have put a lot of effort into this, but why do games like this even get greenlighted? This looks like it will be a bomba.

Give us an IP that will actually excite us, and where money would be better spent. e.g. Ratchet and Clank or Jak and Daxter.

This game had the most gameplay related potential out of anything in the conference. If I was to get a PS4 at launch, it will be because of this or Witness.

It's only going to bomb if people aren't willing to give it a shot, like you seem to be doing. Why should they ever try to introduce new IP?

The first Ratchet & Clank on PS2 moved over 6 million copies. I'm not sure if the five releases this gen combined add up to that.

So everything does have to be a COD shooter?

The guy has a strong resume, and I am not sure we really got a good idea how the game actually plays. You got to give innovators a chance to innovate. Sometimes it fails handily, other times it does greatly.

The concept could be interesting and the Dreamworks like art isn't bad.

Fun fact: The game's name reads "shagged" in Arabic.
Good thing the general public will most likely pronounce the k.
