PS4 Controller - Dualshock 4 Unveilved

Anyone posted these IGN comparisons yet? It looks sooo good.

This doesn't seem accurately proportioned, unless they made the buttons way smaller now.

The triggers are huge improvements to me. I actually prefer the sticks as well, but to be honest I've never had a huge issue with the dual shock. Spacing the sticks does seem like it'll also be helpful.

I think the button colours are letting the controller down. It'd be a shame to leave them behind, but the Vita and the PSP survived without them. I'm more prone to say the square button rather than 'the pink button', anyway.
No thank you. Keep the colour.

i really don't like the glossy finish behind the buttons and the dpad, other than that it looks absolutely great.

:)

Pull out your current dualshock and dick around with it seeing how often you would touch something outside of the circle around the face buttons. When I just did that I was surprised that they haven't put buttons there before with how simple it is to reach them, and never going near the area accidentally.

Would rather that just use R3 and L3 with stick movement.

Ya my thumbs hang over the circles like a woman wearing open toe shoes that are too small.
I like for the handles to be seated in the middle of my palms not the top.
The longer handles should alleviate that as well as the width of the controller preventing my thumbs from hitting each other when using the analog sticks.

It looks like they got some design cues from the Logitech wireless controller for PS2, aka the best pad ever made. I am looking forward to the DS4, besides the gloss circles.

Has it been clarified yet what the mic port does?
I'm curious as to why there needs to be a dedicated port for the headset.
Multiple HS on one console?

I thought there is just a headset port. So you can plug in headphones. And the microphone on the controller.

I really want to know whether those triggers are mushy or not. I always found the old triggers okay, though obviously inferior to 360's. Surely Sony paid attention to FPS developers virtually NEVER using their triggers for shooters.

All in all, I'm geeked to use that controller!

I love the look of the controller, it looks like they improved every part of it from the DS3.

Same. Things like the glossy parts are lack of Start/Select that people seem to be upset with are a none issue to me.

It is an improvement in everyway, and I say this having wanted them to keep the same controller.

Hopefully DS3 still work with the PS4 though, that would be a wise move on Sony's part.

The craziest possibility I'll imagine is that move functionality could be used as an aim assist in games (kind of like the gyro aiming in Uncharted Vita but faster and more accurate). I thought the aiming with move was pretty good but the turning was terrible. With this setup you could turn and make sweeping movements with the right stick then do fine aiming with the motion control. Since you have another analog to turn and make big camera movements the motion functionality wouldn't necessarily need to be 1:1 which would mean you wouldn't need to keep your hands rigid and still to stay on target. It's an idea anyway (I imagined the back touch on the Vita could do the same thing and it's terrible)

I don't understand the question. The port is for you to plug the provided headset into (or a headset of your own choosing). They've learned from Microsoft. This is a great solution.

I don't understand why they have a mono-speaker on it. Did they think that added a lot of quality to Wii titles (it didnt). If it also feeds player chatter, that's a plus though.

High rez press shots makes it look like it may be damn near controller perfection, hope the feel holds up to the imagination.

I wonder if the textured backs on the grips will be rubbery.
They most certainly will be made of some grippy material. The question is, will it be shit and quickly wear off after a few months and lead to the messy 'chaffed rubber' effect.

I'm an expert who has held a few controllers in my time. The DS4 looks like a winner.
I might not be the former but I agree with the latter. Can't wait to get impressions of it in people's hands at E3.

Will not know for sure until I am able to hold it for myself but it looks great. I had no problems with the dualshock 3 so glad they just made tweaks to the designs and did not go for a complete overhaul. Digging the new shoulder buttons as well.

edit: ^what he said, if it's like the vita d-pad it will be god like for fighters when I do not feel like breaking out the arcade stick.

Looks pretty ugly, but I wouldn't bother with it's aesthetics when playing a game. Ergonomics are much more important and I think they'll be just fine.

I agree with those saying the straight on front view is a little bit ugly, but every other angle is HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG

I would punch a baby for this controller right now.

I'm kinda glad that the share button is out there, right in your face.

1. It shows me that Sony are 100% behind the share vision.

2. People are more prone to press it and discover it, rather than hiding it in the XMB somewhere.

Hopefully it is super easy for beginners to use.

There was a Rumour, that a Pad can be tied to a PS-Account. They didnt address this right? In the Spec list there is not internal Memory to be found...yet ^-^

I just realized that the headphone jack is proprietary and the same as PSP's.
No, just the slot is. I imagine the included headset will plug in to there for volume control or other features. The headphone port is the most exciting part to me. It's such a hassle to plug headphones into the TV. Plugging it into your controller is so much more convenient.
