Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate announced for Wii U/3DS, coming to West, no 3DS online

Getting used to the 3DS controls, will probably stick with SA and DS for main weapons.

Btw, how do you ejaculate with the SA? The manual mentioned pressing the R button but that just changed the modes.

Getting used to the new controller is proving tougher than any fight the monsters put up. I put around 1000 hours into Tri and did it with only the wiimote/nunchuck. I played the demo with the gamepad for about 2 hours so far. I have to knock down that mental illusion that the new should be the same as the old. Classic controller and wiimote/chuck are two different beasts. I can't say I had much trouble with the quests though. I can get the job done just fine but I'll be happy when I work out my clumsy grasp of the controls. Popping potions when I'm trying to draw and reloading when I'm trying to pull my gun back can get annoying.

I still need to try out most of the new weapons. Hunting horn is fun to swing around yet I am not too familiar with which tune does what just yet. Bow is something I can tell I'll get a lot of use out of. Bowgun is my favorite and by far most used weapon in Tri so I'm quite fond of having another unique ranged weapon. Shooting the arrows in the sky and watching them fall like rain is fun even if I haven't gotten used to where exactly they fall. Packing multiple status attacks is also a big selling point for me.

I am really eager to get my hands on the final game come March and play with you all :)

By the way how do you draw with instant reload with bowgun? Did they remove that in 3G? It's been bugging me for awhile.

Please excuse my serious lack of knowledge/confusion when it comes to MH and releases. I just sorta became interested in the series for the first time(spent a lot of time playing the Souls games in the last few months and MH seems like it can scratch that itch a bit differently).

What is up with online play on the 3DS? Do you need a Wii U and some variety of adapter? If so I feel like we've stepped back in time ten years. Granted, Nintendo has always been stuck back in time.

Secondly, assuming you have the right setup to play online, how does that work as far as lobbies, finding friends and chat?

I'm interested in the game now but I don't have a Wii U. It would suck if online play was straight up not an option for me. MH seems like it'd be a blast with others.

Wii U Exclusive Software "Packet Relay Tool" is now available!

"Packet Relay Tool" is software to enable internet play in the 3DS game "Monster Hunter 3G".
By connecting with the "Packet Relay Tool", you can form parties of up to 4 people for co-op play with players far away, anywhere they are.

Things to look out for
- Only one 3DS can be connected to a single Wii U at any one time.
- The Wii U Software "Monster Hunter 3G HD Ver." can't be booted up while the tool is in use.
- In order to play over the internet, at least one person among the maximum of 4 that are playing must own the Wii U Software "Monster Hunter 3G HD ver.". The tool is designed to let you connect to a room created by a Wii U version player, and cannot create rooms by itself.
- You can't play the game with just this software.

What you need to play online
In order to use this software to connect "Monster Hunter 3G" online, the following is necessary:

- 1 Wii LAN Adapter
- 1 LAN Cable
- 1 Wii U with this software installed
- 1 Nintendo 3DS/LL
- 1 copy of 3DS Software "Monster Hunter 3G"
.

Did you read the manual, maybe there's something there.

You need a Wii U and a LAN Adapter (currently Japan only).

And this is not anyone's fault, MH3U is a straight localization from MH3G which came out months ago in Japan, Capcom didn't have the time to make an online mode.

For the 3DS version, you can't create rooms and I guess you can't voice-chat either, you use text messages and join other people to play online.

And if this is your first MH game, I don't know why you are so desperate to go online, you just gonna feel lost and think the game sucks. It's much better for you to learn the hopes playing offline, then you jump online.

And as a fan of DS, you gonna have a blast with MH single-player, it's much more challenging, believe me!

I imagine the Wii LAN adapter, which is available outside of Japan (we own one) will do as well. Now we just have to hope they'll make the software available.

So its safe to assume that i should just get an XL circle pad pro from playasia as NoA hasnt announced anything on it yet?( i dont mind spending the money on the thing as long as its known that we wont get it By MHU's release.) Loved that demo though(only wish they would have added a way for the 3ds to join you in the demo), me and my friends are eagerly awaiting this release(happy that i know a good amount of people buying it for both the 3ds and some for the wii U)

Thanks guys.

Sammy, it's not that I'm eager to go online from the start but I'd like to have the option once I get a hang of solo play. Aside from that, MH just seems like the kind of game that would be a blast with others.

Wut? So only one 3DS in a group or up to three?

What, it came out already?!

We need that in US at launch!

Thanks guys.

It's up to four. MH3G HD Ver just needs to be running to facilitate the connection between players. Dunno if you can mix and match Wii U and 3DS players, though, or if it has to be all one or the other.

Is there even a CPP for the xl? I haven't kept up on the 3DS in a while.

It's out in Japan and will hit Europe as the same time as this game. NA XL players are screwed.

And, It's pre-ordered.

I'm really excited to play this game with some people on here.
I hope you guys are friendly enough to ease me into what to do.

I know there's a lot of learning involved with what to farm and what supplies to get to do well.
And I will probably need some help on what to craft and what not, but I'm really enjoying the demo.

It's not really well explained, but what this means is that the creator of the lobby MUST be a Wii U player, since the app has no way of creating lobbies itself. The other three player slots can be filled by any combination of Wii U and bridged 3DS players.

It seems like only one 3DS can be paired up with a Wii U at a time, which doesn't make much sense since AHP let as many join as you could hold, but I blame weird Nintendo/Capcpom netcode for that one.

How exactly do you sync back and forth between 3ds and Wii u versions when you want to transfer data? How much of a hassle is it? Can someone explain the exact process?

Man, this game looks.... weird on the 3DS. Like the image quality and such is better than the PSP, that odd dithering and whatnot is gone and it's smoother but the small resolution hit is really noticeable and fucks up the fonts and UI some.

I parrot it so often, but I would have killed for a DS2 with like an 800x480 screen instead of the 3D. I'm totally fine with the asset quality as is, I don't even care, but 400x240 succkkssss.

--Sweet Jesus, I hope the final game has mappable controls. I played Tri with the Wii remote-chuck combo, & had no complaints. On the GamePad, I'm sipping potions on accident every three seconds & fumbling for the roll button. Do the ZL & SR triggers do anything? Surely I'll get used to them, but the button locations are currently a hurdle.

Just want to repost this as well. Was a Wiimote only user on Tri and going to the gamepad is proving harder than the monsters.

Using the Wiimote for me was so smooth and precise and the buttons seemed to make sense. For some reason using the gamepad to play the demo does not seem to make sense. I'm like a bumbling idiot. I'll have the bunny knocked down and stroll up to it to do a triple charge GS strike and end up using and item instead. I'll try to dodge and I'll end up doing a side swipe instead.

For some reason my brain just isn't training in on the controls. Tri was my first MH game and even at the beginning the controls were never an issue for me. Wiimote controls just felt very natural.

If anyone from Capcom is reading any of these threads I hope they see there were a good number of us Wiimote users and if it's possible for them to patch in Wiimote controls like they patched in Voice chat for Japan, that would be wonderful.

Capcom should put the MH app on the Wii, as well. I could actually sell a 3DS to one person and several copies of the game to friends if they did, but I ain't going to be able to convince anyone to buy a Wii U right now. :lol

That's my major qualm currently, what still being sort of on the fence with buying the game (especially as someone who felt Tri was a bit of a let down). I'd have to forego playing with friends I've been playing online with since MH on the PS2 and I don't WANT to play with new people!

Yeah...that's really weird. That's a real shame for 3DS owners. Capcom is so damn lazy.

So what's up with the console bundles for this? North America isn't getting them while EU/Aus/NZ are? Isn't Europe also getting a 3DS XL Fire Emblem bundle? Is this just a lack of caring from NoA?

Just beat Lagombi for the second time on the 3DS demo. I can't seem to get the timing right for a Lvl 3 charge using GS. I played Tri and I was really good at that aspect of it but I seemed to have lost that skill. Any tips?

The timing seems to be a bit different from tri. Gotta re-learn the correct time it seems. I was having the same issue. Still don't have it figured out if it's shorter or longer.

Ok, so the description of the bridge software makes it sound like the you can't play M3U on Wii U along with a 3DS player in the same room? The Wii U w/ software can only act as a bridge to let the 3DS version go online?

Makes no sense. Why wouldn't you just play the console version if you own it, and are there in the room.

Argh!.... I...just can't come to grips with dual stick control pads. I NEED Wii mote/nunchuck controls asap.

You're not alone.

If Activision/Treyarch could do it for BO 2, I don't see why Capcom can't do it for Monster Hunter. They even did some patches to make the Wiimote controls more like what they were on the Wii CoD games. So it's definitely something that is patchable.

Its a stealth Capcom test

Because the Wii U version launched months after the 3DS one in Japan.

ok so do flash bombs not work on plesioth or do you have to throw them at the right moment?
The flash needs to happen in the direction he monster is looking at. Just like flashbangs in real life.

well thats obvious, but it didn't stun him, eh i'll learn ;)

If it is in rage mode (you can see it's breath) then that means flash/sonic bombs won't stun it. When it is normal, it will be stunned. If it's drooling, then it will be stunned for a longer period of time.

Yeah, so weak. NOA just doesn't give a shit about us. I just ordered one off Amazon for about $30 shipped ....

.... within 18-32 business days. Hopefully it's here by release!

Wait what? I always brought a full suite of Flash Bombs to Tigrex fights in FU because they could be used to knock him out of stun.

thanks. i know observing the monster and learn its movement and state is important, but with such a time limit in the demo i'm just rushing in and slashing, so i guess ill try a different approach ;)

I wonder if I could borrow my friends 3DS which is a Japan unit and use a japan MH3U on it but in English? That Resident Evil game was able to..as in select English and get the game in English.

(I live in Asia btw)

The WiiU version seems to hang at a framerate higher than 30 the majority of the time on my end, but it does seem to have an odd slight stutter at times.

Amazon.jp? You probably should have went with Play-Asia. Most people get their circle pads from them.
