Tomb Raider |OT| Lara's Misfortune

Yeah, I take back my complaints about the audio, sound design is excellent, I just really don't care for the score compositions or the voice performances.

So far I'd say this reminds me more of Deliverance than torture porn.

Maybe archery porn.

"A Quiver Aquiver", starring Lara Croft

Finished it last night. I really liked it, it is very Uncharted-inspired, but I think it outdoes Uncharted in a lot of areas. Visuals and sound design were great. Combat got the job done and was satisfying enough. I liked how the
supernatural elements
panned out.

Got all the trophies except chatterbox, rope pulling, and challenges, so I'm going to do another runthrough and see how I feel.

I do like the animation. There's a lot of movements I've never seen animated in a game before. Facial animtion in cutscenes are good too, as is the detail and design of characters faces. Lara doesn't move her lips much when speaking in the game, however. But you don't really see that unless you move the camera around!
I also like that Lara is covered in little cuts and her clothes become torn and ripped.

Really liked the
burning castle
section.

Do get that dodge counter trophy, do you need to stab them and then use the finisher for it to count or do you only have to stab them in the leg?

Are there enemies still around post game? I'm working on the Kill 75 enemies with the machine gun achievement and am worried I won't make it before the end.

Yep. Plenty of dudes roaming around at the end.

This is how I got it. Dodge counter, arrow to knee (ugh) twice, so they are stumbling around on the ground, then finishing kill. I'm not sure if that's the right way, but I was doing normal arrows a lot and it didn't pop.

All true. still, DS3 is not a bad game, and in most comparable aspects at least as good as tomb raider, and in the core mechanics even better, is all I'm saying.

the only thing thats left to discuss is why tomb raider fans are apparently more welcoming to a drastic change in gameplay. because DS3 is much closer to DS2 than tomb taider to any of its predecessors.

Maybe it's because DS3 is so much closer to DS2 in both gameplay style and release date than TR is to any other game in the series, that people are more harsh on it.

It's only been 5 years since DS1 and 2 years since DS2, so why is your 3rd entry that plays so similar also a much worse game than those ones? I'm harsh on Uncharted 3 for the same reason too.

Meanwhile TR has been going on for like 17 years now? They milked the crap out of the first six games too. Even the newer Crystal Dynamics games were feeling a bit old by Underworld. It was a good time for a reboot and most fans have seemingly welcomed it warmly.

Why are we suddenly comparing this to dead space 3? Are we deciding which one is the early front runner for worst game of the year?
Because we was comparing it to Spec Op earlier and realized a game like Tomb Raider shouldn't be compared to bargain bin games, needed a game with more caliber to it, still a bad comparison but we'll get there, I actually think TLOU is gonna be similar to TR from what I've seen.

Yeah I dont understand why you have to do it twice for each guy. Ive done it once to a few of them and they still end up crawling on the ground saying they cant walk..

I guess two shots is gonna have to do. Damn.

Okay, now you're just trying to get Derrick to foam at the mouth.

I know you didn't just dismiss Spec Ops.

Why must you do this to me? Why must you make me cry?

Maybe they just need to be crawling, I found that two arrows was needed most of the time to easily get them crawling.

I've only just started Spec Ops but.. that shit is def not bargain bin. Maybe sales wise, but it's pretty darn decent so far.

Spec Ops is a bargain bin game. I would have been seriously irritated if I had picked it up for 60$. 10$ was the right price.

Just like 30$ is the right price for Tomb Raider in my book.

The Line is technically the first game in the series since the first one to NOT BE shovelware bargain bin crap.

The previous game in the series MSRP'd for $19.99 at launch.

Spec Ops on easy is more difficult than Tomb Raider on hard.
I've died considerably more times in Tomb Raider, but I believe it's mostly because TR is literally 4x longer of a game than Spec Ops.

I'd be extremely disappointed if that happened. I expect much more survival elements and scarcity of ammo in TLoU.

Woah woah! Let's keep it clean! This is, after all, a family program! Rated E for EVERYONE'S THIRSTY!

Oh, what ya gonna do. Oh, what ya gonna do. Yeah, Marty gonna die when they come for you. Wantin' water and buckets and things like tools. What ya gonna do when they come for you?

Unless things drastically change from the demos, TLoU is already more of a survival game than TR. Guns only have a couple of bullets, you have to make your own bandages and molotov cocktails through finding supplies in the environment and the AI is actually smart for a change, not like the brain dead fools in TR who stand out in the open and let you spray them with bullets.

That's good. I haven't watched much footage of the game. I just think it sounds amazing. I watched one trailer that had some folkey/country song playing. The direction of that trailer sold me on the game.

This has been good so far. Fuck the first piece of gameplay is a puzzle if simple. Lara is far more likable than the marketing has been making out.

Did laugh when Lara bumps into Sam and despite both having a rough time and not knowing if they are alive or not its just "sit down sweetie you look tired"

SE need a new marketing team. Jesus.

Resident Evil ORC did it the exact same way. Something good came out of that one. (It's rough , but not THAT rough)

REORC is a janky piece of shovelware garbage and every aspect of the game is shameful trash that should be struck from memory by forced lobotomy... and as heinous as such a procedure might be, it'd still be less torturous than playing REORC, the worst fuckin game Capcom has even published.

Slap in the face to RE fans and gamers in general.

Ugh, is anyone else's game getting stuck? Like the gameplay only freezes + sound turns into a broken record. I can pause and go back to the menu and continue but it's still annoying.

This game is great. Over all I would say its like a weak uncharted (Production wise) and not the utter shit corridor hopping garbage they used to make with terrible camera previously.

I still need 2 upgrades for the Handgun upgrades. Are they in specific crates or is it randomly generated in crates?

Also this game is phenomonal, it it totally Arkham Asylum and I love it :D
