Man, I don't know why you guys hate Kubo so much. It's not like Bleach is as bad as, say, Medaka Box.

As a standalone chapter, it's pretty underwhelming. Tournament arcs are ridiculously cliche, so it feeling like a set up for one sounds dreadful. Also, it looks like Luffy cares about Ace's fruit (at least, that's the set up, still not sold on it) which is kind of weird to me.
I wouldn't be surprised if Luffy just went in and blasted his way through.
On the other hand, this fairy line + Zorro and Sanji on their own has me very excited. Looking forward to that much more than yet another Colosseum.
In the end, this chapter will be held up by what happens in the next ten. Nothing ground breaking, just more set up. Usually though, it's set up I'm pumped about.

It's not like anyone, except Big One, actually thinks Bleach is one of the worst manga ever or anything.
Bleach wishes it could be as bad as Air Gear or Rage Town.

Well we don't know what attachment he has to it. We only know it has some effect on him. For all we know he could just want it to toss it into the sea so no one else can use it. Yeah, he's had his time to get over Ace's death but people here act like he's too stupid to feel anything by the only memento he has of Ace

And Bleach is still good enough to laugh at it without getting angry by being reminded of how bad it is.

I wasn't really talking TO you, more just quoting it because it vaguely had something to do with Bleach's writing. It was just a joke for people that do read MB.

This is honestly what I would put the most money on. I don't see Oda following the rules on any cliche as it stands, he usually doesn't. One of my favorite parts of his writings is he always has a great take on standards from the past and it usually comes off as really fresh.

? I thought the general trend of most tournament arcs is to have something take place preventing them from even finishing the tournament. Either way, a tournament arc is just rather really predictable.

Fairy Tail plowed on through the tournament regardless.
Normally tournament arcs get interrupted if there isn't a relevant enough prize at the end.

This, from what I can remember anyways. What all has tourny arcs? I can think of Yu-Yu, HxH, DBZ, Fairy Tail . . what am I missing? That's what I remember from the top of my head. (did not count any pokemon or yugioh, or series that pretty much are all just tourny arcs)

Toriko's current arc started as a tourny, but erupted into chaos when the main villain group attacked.
Did Reborn have a tourney? It's generic enough to have one.

Oh god no, please don't actually do a Tournament Arc. Please no. Just, make Luffy and Co accidentally knock out like 90% of the contestants and just fight some other dude until plot shows up. Or if it really is just the 5 shown, make it just one big fight with the crew.
