Thanks gents!

Probably better to release the Wii U remake after B2 has landed.
Eh, but then a lot of people will hold off on the purchase. I think the best way to do it is to release it 1 month before, and if you buy B1, you get $20 off B2 or something.

Wasn't sure where to post this, but I just saw that a Walmart that I live near (in Canada) is selling mass effect 3 for $80. Who would spend that much on the game, and why are they charging so much for it? :S

Well monster hunter is 1080p but you probably already knew that

Is there a way I can keep my Wii save data on the Wii whilst transferring it over to the Wii U? I'd like to have it all backed up.

Back them up on a separate SD card prior to transfer.
I assumed this was the way to do it, but considering how backwards many aspects of the Wii was I wasn't sure. Thanks!

The Wii U looks pretty decent on my set (after I messed with the settings and turned the sharpness off), but for some reason I'm missing some of the picture. Any ideas?

Guys, I bought a Wii U today and I'm having issues doing the day 1 update. It literally will not work. I can connect to my router and the internet, but it seems to give me an error code everytime I try and download the update. It's driving me mad. I've tried manually inputting my IP address and DNS servers, doesnt seem to make much of a difference. My 3DS connects without issue so I'm pretty sure it's not a router issue.

Ugh.....it's a common problem. It's overscan. The Wii U UI was designed without the "safe zone" in mind. It drives me bonkers. You can change this setting in the Internet browser, Miiverse, and eShop, but you have to do it for each. As of right now, you cannot correct this on a system-wide level. Hopefully one of the next two big updates will add the feature, because it seems that most people are missing a part of the picture.

Some TVs can correct this issue. Try to set your TV to "just scan" if it has that feature. It seems like most TVs cannot correct overscan, though, unfortunately.

I just responded to your other post:

There are two routers on the same internet connection where I live. One works fine, the other doesn't no matter what I do. It has to be the router.

There are a few wii games with protected saves, though... And yeah... The overscan. Luckily my TV has a no overscan mode. It allows the Wii U to send a perfect per pixel signal, but a lot of TVs don't support it. But if you think about it, it makes no sense for TVs to lack the feature. Over scan in a relic from the old CRT days. It really serves no purpose anymore. Nintendo were forward thinking in sending a true "per pixel" signal... It's too bad, really, that so many "modern" sets are so backward...

Cheers for the advice dude, althought I sorted it in the end. I moved the Wii U like 20cm away from the router and it finally worked, which isn't a good thing really. Never had a problem like that before but it seems it needs to have a really strong wi-fi connection (3 bars instead of 2 lol) to actually download an update.

Yes, I totally forgot that moving the console around does seem to work! Glad to hear it works now.

Sometimes it's called "Full Pixel" or similar...those who're unsure, look it up via Google for your set.

I was stunned, first of all, that people don't use that setting on their TVs as a matter of best practice, and *astonished* to learn that some modern sets don't have such an option full-stop.

I just changed it once in my TV settings and never had any issue

Had my Wii-U a few hours now and I just wanted to drop in my initial thoughts.

1) I like the controller but kinda wished the screen was a touch bigger. Not overly heavy either, which surprised me.

2) The overall speed of the system is very lacking. I did hear an update was planned to try and sort this but getting in and out of menus is aggravating.

3) After the lengthy update, the first view of the HUD is minimal and lacking features. Did they not think to pre-install some of the extra stuff like YouTube etc? I heard iPlayer was not there either, which is a shame. Plus the TVii stuff does not seem to work in the UK. (Might be setting it up wrong)

3) Nintendoland is a very typical Nintendo game but lacks their usual charm. Played a few of the attractions myself and not a glimmer of excitement. Just really underwhelming on the face of it. Family around me asked why so many cables and why the waggling was replaced with sitting down again. Played some MP stuff and its pretty fun but super reduced. After 20 mins or so, everyone has moved off. Not what I wanted.

4) Monster Hunter Tri-U is awesome and the most redeeming part of my Wii-U purchase.

Not sure what is on my list now to buy but only Zombie U tickles my fancy at this point. Wil keep an eye out for what else is coming up. :D

Yeah, just nothing clicked with Nintendoland. I was surprised myself that my 7 year old niece looked at it and went back to playing Moshi Monsters. :D

Zombi-U does look like a very unique game built for the Wii-U so I will be picking that up sooner than later.

Ahh, so TVii is not launched yet? Well that sucks a bit. Well, the console is still pretty new, so I can forgive that.

try animal crossing sweet day with some mates after a lot of alcohol, nintendoland may click better then

Just don't expect an FPS with Zombi U - It's pure survival horror with resource management & awkward combat.

Need For Speed is awesome if you like that sort of thing, though don't expect to find it in any stores in the UK because none of the chains (Game included) are carrying it. It'll also probably get a price cut soon, if the traditional NFS trajectory is followed.

One thing that Nintendo really needs to get on Wii U is Skype! Vita and 360 have, why not Wii U?
Because microsoft owns skype now, the vita got their deal before ms took over so they needed to deliver it. ;)

Serious, those loading times aren"t that bad? I mean yes going in to settings should just needed to be a click go but i think the eshop is faster then the psn store on my ps3.. Which fcks with my tv every time i turn it on.. Glad they improve it, thats for sure.

My next game will be monster hunter, think you can put allot of hours into it. And looking forward to metroid for 30ct!

Yeah, the PS3 store is a complete and utter abomination. Although the Wii U OS is too slow overall, no individual element is as bad as that, the gold standard of shite.

The one-two punch of Monster Hunter (my first Monster Hunter ever and it's incredible) and Lego City (also fantastic) has made me even more satisfied with my Wii U. That's 5 games so far that I love for the system, which is way more than I can say about any other system launches I've experienced in the past in their first year, let alone four months.

Amen.. And it"s even weirder when you think about they have had a perfect working store... Shows that flashier isn"t always better i guess. Really i go into the store once a month and annoy me every single time.

Wiiu os is slow too indeed, but it doesn"t annoy me that much knowing there will be updates..

Hope we can pick up mario kart u before the year ends, it really is the only game besides fifa on the ps3 which i keep playing over and over again on the 3ds. Just those races are so much fun and the point system, as simple as it is, is kind of addictive

I bought Monster Hunter yesterday and haven't gotten the chance to play it yet due to prior engagements, but I'm having guests at my house today and since they're borrowing my bedroom for sleeping in I'm hanging out in my own room playing the Wii U on the pad exclusively. It's the first time I have the chance playing on the pad while in bed and it's an incredibly cozy feeling that I haven't quite experienced to it's contextual fullest. Playing the thing while chilling in bed is quite a joy, nothing quite like a few levels of NSMBU or rounds of Nano Assault Neo before sleeping.

Off-screen game play might not be the biggest revolution gaming has seen but it's incredibly handy and a very nice thing to have, I can see why it's appealing for a lot of people.

Did you guys read the thread title?

Right, despite it not being able to download the initial update without being next to the router, the online features are working as they should be at an acceptable distance from the router. I'm enjoying features like the Miiverse. Downloading is incredibly slow though it seems. Enjoying the controller but I'd like to able to choose menus when looking at the TV.

I'm very tempted to buy Zombi U lately, I tried it with a friend a few weeks ago and I was stressed as fuck, plus the price for the game dropped a bit. :P

Choose menus when looking at the TV? Do you mean have the menu on the TV instead of the Gamepad?
