Not my very first. The posts prior were just about the Gears 3 beta but this one's great

I do agree with you on those points but the games industry needs big companies like EA and Activision. If it weren't for them the industry would not be as big as it is today. And I am sure there are a few games only around today because they were supported by the anti-EA/Activision followers. And besides, EA makes up for it with a stellar catalogue.

Battlefield, Crysis, Dead Space, Dragon Age, Mass Effect and many more games may not be here today were it not for EA. They still deserve your criticism but just a little bit less.

Heh, 3/5 of those series have gone to shit and I no longer enjoy the other 2.

I've been playing through Psychonauts for the first time and have just reached the Meat Circus level. From what I've heard (and played of it so far) it's Trine-esque in how infuriating it becomes.

I didn't find it all that frustrating in the end. It's a great game overall.

Meh pretty boring:

Since I don't seem to find the official thread I post my question here. Are there any tips how to get the necessary time for the heart piece in the rollercoaster minigame?
My best time was 01:06:43 so far and I'm only getting worse since then. It is the last thing I need to to before I will go to the (presumably) last dungeon. I got the Hylia-Shield and every other heartpiece...I can't finish the game before I didn't get that last one as well.

I really wanted that heart piece I presume :)

I only have OoT3DS and Pushmo so I've been trying to gather my thoughts and limit which games I should get next but, now that I see this list, there are so many that I want. I suppose I should start with games that are actually out, haha.

Super Mario 3D Land it is.

I still haven't gotten 3D Land :(

here's an interesting thought. Some scientists are pushing the idea that the different human groups: ergaster, neanderthal, and "modern" humans, all coexisted and even co-mingled. That would give us a kind of thought and memory basis for different 'races' of men. A hairy short and stocky neaderthal could be seen as a dwarf or even an orc, depending on how you felt about them. Maybe us homo sapiens were the rarefied and delicate looking elves. Who knows what an h. ergaster would be seen as. Anyway it's an interesting thought.

from..2011...? that doesn't seem right. what dimension is this?

As for the others, I think I may have just read or heard about them else where. Perhaps it was speculation, but they should totally add more.

Sly 3 also ended on a cliff-hanger. I have no doubt in my mind that they will make a a Sly 4 and a inFamous 2, I just think Sly 4 will come before a second inFamous. Rumor has it that they are working on their own, PS3 engine for Sly 4, so it might take even longer. inFamous ran on some sort of C++ engine, that was not designed solely for the PS3.

Well not really. I mean
You had Sly getting into the Cooper vault, finally taking down Dr. M and getting closure with what it means to be a Cooper, and then getting "amnesia". After that, everyone pretty much gets a happy ending, Sly gets the girl, Murray becomes a racecar driver, Panda King returns to his daughter, Dimitri gets rich again and finally Bentley and Penelope continue the Cooper family's legacy for thievery.

Wow, first post was in an inFAMOUS thread about Sly 3.

I've just registered here, and wanted to say thanks to Tony for everything he did. I read all the 53 pages on this thread, and seen that many times he went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure the people here is satisfied. That is something extremely rare these days, and Amazon should be proud of having him in their team. So keep on with that great work, I'm sure it'll have brought excellent results after the sale is over.

Now about the games, there are a couple of bundles that pick my interest, but I'm trying to be selective instead of buying everything I'd like to. Right now I've only grabbed a copy of Max Payne 3, and I'm seriously thinking about getting Binary Domain. After playing the demo I was left with a bittersweet taste though, that of a nice game with horrible, horrible controls. So I'd like to ask a couple of questions to anyone who has played the full version: Is it really worth the $10? Can you get used to the bad controls? (I'm talking specifically about the weird mouse acceleration, and binding of multiple actions to the same keys). Is the multiplayer any good, and is it easy to find someone to play with?

Oh, and I'm really on the fence about the 2K Shooter Pack. I've only played DNF (sans the DLC), and contrary to popular opinion, liked it pretty much. From what I understand, the Bioshocks are great games, worth having in any game collection, but I'm not so sure about Borderlands. I'm not too keen on RPG's, so does it feel like one? Or is it kinda like Mass Effect, a mix of shooter and RPG? Because if it's the latter, I could give it a chance.
From the Amazon 2012 Summer Sale thread, in the Gaming side.

Wow, looks like I was mistaken about my approval time. It didn't take 2 days of waiting, it was only 1!

Are you sure you searched with the correct settings? I got this:

Yeah, I really wouldn't be surprised if we got Jak 4. Not only does it seem extremely obvious with their HD Collection, but with the arrival of the Vita it would a great addition to perhaps draw in the older gaming generation. The People with money to drop are the ones that will remember the Jak franchise, and I'm sure we will end up seeing it announced after the Last of Us, unless its not naughty dog making it.

That isn't to say that Jak 4 is close to release or even production. The Last Guardian is still in development, and who knows where that's at with Ueda leaving the project.

Something is off. It says my first post is about my BBQ sauce. But I was here 5 years before that post so yea. Something is fucked.

fun thread to look through though.

Hi Gaf. Been lurking for a little over a year so I wanted to make my first post memorable. I figure a good first post would be showing off the woman I love. We just recently got married a few weeks ago so here is a pic of me and her on our wedding day.

Be nice gaf.

It's even titled "My 1st post". ;)

Naturally mine is quite recent, having only joined in January:

I feel like city size could be less of an issue for me if switching city is more seamless than Simcity 4. Creating mega-cities which spanned multiple tiles was, although satisfying, a bit of a chore. And that was in 2003. In 2012 and running on an SSD, it's still a little annoying having to save and jump back to the region view, then back in again. But the cities did feel integrated, which is something I hope they get right here. I could spread over 4 tiles and in my mind, it's still the same city.

I've been playing SC4 for the last few days again and apart from some questionable pathfinding and the phobia that Sims seem to have of public transport, it's going to be really hard to top this game for me. But I'm keeping my mind as far open as possible. It's a day one purchase for me either way.

Off topic: Also, this is my first post here. My years of lurking are over, and I feel like the start of 2013 is pretty much the perfect time to start contributing here, what with console announcements on the horizon, which means guaranteed Gaf meltdowns.

Somehow, it's hauntingly appropriate that my first post on GAF was hating on Pokémon Gold/Silver.

I've never understood the Gen II love/Gen III hate. I'm almost the exact opposite. I despise a lot of the Johto pokemon designs and love most of the Hoenn ones. How anyone chan hate:

is beyond me.

Gold/Silver and Crystal also felt unfinished. Johto was ridiculously small and Kanto was a shell of its former self. The endgame felt similarly non-existent. Emerald On the other hand, seemed like it would never run out of things for you to do. Between Gym rematches, Pokemon contests, hordes of legendaries and the Battle Frontier, it always felt like there was something new to do.

you know what, that feels about right. Thanks, I was putting my name into the keywords.

Maybe I'm also wrong about who first quoted me, but I know that was the first time I noticed someone responded. Before I know how to use the search at all.

Testing for avatar...

Edited for birthday. Somebody make me a cake.
This thread is a lie. Or a sad state of affairs for me. 2004 wasn't my first post, silly. It was, at least, the 3rd matrix. I even remember a guy named matrix. Liked Houston. Wonder what happened to him. WTF was I talking about?

Oh yeah, famous ABC thread. The genesis of OT. Just a bunch of fuckin guys (and Tazz) talking about letters in the seedy underbelly of this newfangled gaf. Now it's 'new' gaf. Like an old bottle of new coke. *spit* Taste like swill.

Lost a few old cats. Matrix. Darien. Bish. The guy with the little asian kid dressed up in a suit and tie. Want to hear more, I'll send ya an email about it.

Considering I've changed my username since then (in 2007), am I still being watched?

such a well balanced first post:

as others have said before BF2 is your best choice. I've been playing 1943 on the ps3 and while it's a fun game you can see it was made for the console gamer first.

I assume you are looking for a game with content and a pretty consistent community behind it so BF2 would be better choice of the 2 imo.
