Aside from looks, I don't get the appeal or even the need for it. What will it do that we haven't done?

Now, if you got to choose whether you shot the glass or not without the game beating you over the head with a blue vs red, black vs white morality system, that'd be fantastic. Along with accidentally shooting your own guys if you're too quick on the trigger as they pop in during that one scene. Not likely because who has the time to program something like that when all shooter fans want is boom explosions and pop pop, they're down gunplay?

Also, will I ever get a fps where the player character isn't always stiffly at the ready? His buddies are all relaxed and conversing and you're always in "what can I shoot next" mode. Stuff like that gets sillier as the graphics get prettier and the situations more realistic.

Next gen graphics.

Same lame ass current gen gameplay.

Scripted shitty set pieces, press x to win, walking and more walking, terrible ai, linear as hell for a BF game.

These midern shooter are out of ideas and are basically tryingto reclaim the COD4 magic.

Go play another game then.

Will do 12:30 next, as requested.

This part had to be CG / a cutscene, right? Looks way better than the rest of the gameplay.

Thought it looked great, some seriously good lighting and particle effects, and the destruction was definitely improved.

Will treat this the same way I treated BF3, played through the campaign once to enjoy the ride, take in the sights, and then devote the rest of my time to the MP.

1. The graphics are beautiful. It is definitely a full notch up over BF3, thats for sure. I'm assuming the PC was absolutely beastly.

2. The Chinese locale is a nice change. Not many FPS games have their setting in China, so thats nice.

3. The gameplay is still the same ol' shit. It's still all cinematic. You have this new engine, all this hardware, and its still "Run forward, shit happens around you". I was hoping it would differentiate from Call of Duty. But I can see this game being called Call of Duty and I would have believe you. It is what it is. I am excited for Killzone, but that has the same gameplay. Only reason I care about Killzone SP is because I enjoy the world, the setting, and the story that Guerilla have built. Even then, I care more about MP.

Overall, it was decent. A definite showcase of their graphics, and if you love that style of game, this was definitely wetting your pants. I wonder when we are getting the MP reveal?

Looks gorgeous. Wonder what the console versions are going to look like.

probably a notch or two down on the graphics setting and only 30fps. should still look fairly close to this.

i was impressed by the video reveal. i hate that the grey filter is still being used but at least the setting is much more interesting than anything in BF3. the sound design is amazing.

so what was y'all's favorite parts

mine were:

when there was war but also un-war things like music and children's murals, because games are art now
when the guy stood in a window in an almost literal shooting gallery
when the guy playing didn't immediately shoot the enemies in sight so that they could pantomime some squad mechanic or destruction or whatever
when everything in the world exploded and they fell 50 feet onto concrete and slammed with falling concrete debris and survived
press f to cut leg
driving sequence

looks great, awesome, all my doritos

Flock of flying birds because why not?

It changed Nib95's life.

The graphics seem like a very big step up from Battlefield 3, this looks mighty impressive.

actually, i think my favorite part was when the trucks pulled up like 150 yards away and then a dust storm happened and also the sun exploded and so you shot these tiny dots while the inner solar system was consumed in stellar flame and sand was in your eyes

I hope they made the single player really fun this time. The game looks fucking superb but I didn't even finish BF3's SP because it's just too shallow.

I suppose you want GTA or Crysis like worlds in BF SP then

The graphics were really pretty but otherwise it looks like your standard shootbang campaign. Does anyone actually give a shit about BF single player?

It looks amazing, but it doesn't make me want to actually play the SP. Or, more specifically, I wouldn't regret not playing it is the better way to put it. However, I'm impressed visually. It's the kind of game that I'm likely to play through only cause it's the start of a new gen and there may not be enough of my kind of games.

I anticipate getting more real enjoyment out of the MP portion with friends.

The wide open battlefield portions seemed promising along with ordering squadmates to suppress in order to allow you to flank. I really hope we see more of that in the campaign because wide open battlefields in SP was something I greatly missed from BC1.

Brothers in Arms in Frostbite 3. HOW AWESOME WILL THAT BE

one can dream..

Still not a fan of their half monochromatic and high contrast palette for the outdoors (range of lighting looked so much better indoors however).
