Gonzo journalism, except GIFs? I dunno, just grabbing whatever.

Here's the collapsing thingy.

That looks fucking real. Wow.

Ehhhhh, the latter portion of this footage is just a bunch of noise and the player watching stuff happen. Really disappointing that they have this amazing sound design and super solid core mechanics, but all they're making is another cinematic mess. The most standard part of this video with the shootout in the desert area was the most interesting part if only for some flanking options and, again, that marvelous DICE sound. The rest was just graphics whore set dressing.

I love how members of the press are getting nasty about them being cut out of the preview cycle loop for this game. They went to an event to preview the game, and EA put up a trailer. Now everyone is talking about how abysmal this reveal was.

That looked fucking amazing. The scripted stuff really isn't my cup of tea, but I can overlook that.

Then you're just left with the same standard gameplay.

DICE just doesn't get it. Or maybe they do. What do I know? I'm just part of the minority of people who thinks games should be about playing rather than watching.

The gameplay footage in this shits on what we have from Killzone.

I agree. Anyone suggesting otherwise, I just don't know what they are looking at. There's no way Killzone looks this good. Keep in mind, I'm not even referring to gameplay or anything like that. Neither game makes me want to desperately play their singleplayers, regardless of how good it looks. I'm just speaking purely from a raw graphical and technical point of view. The driving near the ocean was amazing, as were a number of other moments. Seeing the weather intensify and throw all that water from the ocean up onto the highway is truly something else.

YES YES YES .... same old shit in a brilliant shiny package, exactly what I expected :D

Where is MP??? Show us that DICE!!! The destruction looks amazing.

kz:sf was good. But it was not really that impressive.

It was like killzone 3 on steroids. but other than that...

I think it was the best showcase for the next generation so far outside of tech demos. The big improvements were there for people to notice and they were quite noticeable, especially for using an early kit. The geometry detail alone showed such a huge difference and that's been the thing that's held PC games back quite a bit in games developed with consoles in mind even in the best PC ports.

BF4 is quite impressive so I'm merely commenting on saying it was Killzone 3 on steroids. Of course they will look similar in nature, but the improvements were amazing. BF looks better in many ways but KZ looks better in others.

I think any improvements in destruction for BF4 will make a huge difference to me while actually playing the game. You could only do so much in BC2 and BF3 improved on that, but nowhere near what I wanted it to be. I just hope the current gen versions don't hold improvements like that back too much but this video shows a big improvement which is great. It's hard to get immersed in a world when destruction was practically the same for everything.

Still better than Destiny.

I wonder if that explosion is volumetric or just good old sprites. Honestly it's hard to tell.
Seeing as how the helicopter causes it, meaning it must be scripted, I wouldn't doubt that the biggest explosion is volumetric. The other smaller explosions look flat in comparison to that one.

Eventually next gen console games will look better than this. Of that I'm pretty confident.

Yeah, I don't get the doubts. This is a day 1 launch game for next gen consoles. You really think it's the best we're going to get or something?

My thoughts at 4:00 when they take down the window covers:

"wow look at how detailed and vast that city looks. can't wait to explore it and see how destructible those buildings a-"

*they go back inside*

"oh."

Looks a lot better than BF3 but still has the stupid lens splatter/flare effects, ugh.....
Also the enemies character models are stripped straight out of BF3 multiplayer.

Seems like they've paid attention to some of the problems with BF3 and given you a bit more freedom. But the selling point seems to still be pure spectacle.

Amazingly pretty though. Annihilates Killzone SF's visuals.

You can't just have that the whole game............gotta have variety. Geez.

I thought it was a fantastic demo. Scripted events and a flow(Like idk...a movie) Is what draws the general audience's eye. Not some messy multiplayer video. The people who know about battle field are gonna get this, they know that, this isn't a video for that crowd(okay not entirely just for that crowd). It's for your average Joe gamer who just wants to see come cool explosions and a sequence of events(you know, a story). On top of that, single player is always going to look better graphically then multiplayer, but that's known Im sure.

You can see cool explosions and a sequence of events in MP as well. Trailer should've been 17 minutes of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5lnzScc6ZE

Be interesting to hear your thoughts when this finally releases.

It will be interesting to hear your thoughts when you are disappointed if you think this will come ANYWHERE close to PC levels. Give me a break - this was said last time and we all know how that turned out.

You will eat your words bruh. PS3 wasn't at all like a PC, this time around is different.

....Okay....? Wishful thinking.

This has already been confirmed for next-gen consoles @ 1080p 60 fps

actually gives me hope for games that aren't 60 fps, because this wasn't super impressive. deep down and kz:sf were more impressive

Confirmed? Where? Rumors aren't confirmations? Unless you can give me a link, I'll believe otherwise. Also "targets" doesn't mean that they will hit it, it's just what they want. Remember the KZ2 trailer?

This video was not 60fps lol. So why you bring that up makes no sense at all. You don't even know how this will run on what PC hardware. On a side note, I fully expect the PS4 version to look close to this.

Also, how do you even bring up the PS3 and BF3 as a comparison? Lol. BF3 came out in late 2011, that's 5 years after the PS3's initial release, at a time where PC GPU's were order of magnitude more powerful than that in the PS3.

This has to be on of the most idiotic comments here. I never said anything about 60fps video. I said the final game will not be 60fps @ 1080p. Having the ability to understand what you read is a wonderful thing.

I'm pretty sure PC hardware will have no problem running this. What kind of an argument is this... You are expecting way too much. People were hyping games on PS3, and they always came short versus their PC counterpart.

What's wrong with PS3 and BF3 comparison? It's a valid comparison. And if BF3 came out 5 years after PS3's initial release shouldn't it have a lot more time to be optimized as devs learned how to program and adapt their games on the console? Maybe not close to PC levels, but at least decent, and from what I saw it was far from it. Not only that you really expect them to be able to program their game better on a console that hasn't even come out yet... Come on your opinion is way out there, even for a fanboy.

Not really...lol.

Elements of KZ SF looked better, elements of BF4 looked better. Both looked gorgeous.[/QUOTE]

You make me laugh. So arguing with you is pointless. But it was pointed out the KZ gameplay was done in such a small corridor and the background made it seem bigger than what was thought. BF4 in size and scope is way larger than that.

Thank you EA/DICE for showing us right from the get go how generic this game will be.

At least now I won't waste time getting hyped for this like I did with BF3.
Were you honestly expecting anything interesting for a Battlefield single player? I'm not sure you know what franchise this is for.

Looking awesome graphically is about the best we can hope for from a Battlefield SP campaign that isn't Bad Company.

That was 17 minutes of fucking awesome. Great graphics, great set pieces and the audio was phenomenal. Honestly, what tends to impress me more than pretty graphics in modern games is really well made audio. Really can't wait to hear about the multiplayer now.

Also looks like there's a fair bit of battle log integration with new challenges and scores of your friends being posted in the upper right. Could be neat, but I'm also a bit worried of getting lots of notifications while I play, which could be distracting. Hopefully there would be an option to hide those.

Not really...lol.

Except that Killzone is kind of a B class shooter compared to BF, CoD, and Halo. I can never get into that game.

looks great but gat damn I just can't get into that scripted gameplay. Reminds me of the first day at a new job. Everyone shouting at you, you don't know what the hell you're doing or even what direction you should be going.

Were you watching the same footage? This looked way more impressive than Killzone SF in just about every way - the explosions, debris, destructibility, animations, just about everything outclassed KZ Shadow Fall imo.

It's going to be okay. BF4 is baseline next gen.

Yeah this did look better than KZ:SF to me. Not to derail the thread too much, but Im willing to bet that KZ:SF's graphics will look significantly better at E3 versus what we saw at the PS meeting simply because it was running on a gimped dev kit.
