Looked impressive, although I wish more FPS would utilize a third person view when going into cover like Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I always felt that going into cover while still in first person mode looked and felt odd and didn't really give you the true visceral feeling of being behind cover. With next gen on the horizon, I'd like to see more evolution in core gameplay mechanics and not just visuals.

Were you honestly expecting anything interesting for a Battlefield single player? I'm not sure you know what franchise this is for.

Looking awesome graphically is about the best we can hope for from a Battlefield SP campaign that isn't Bad Company.

I'd like to believe the multiplayer would be any better but that's highly unlikely.

Even the best fall down sometimes.

I was kidding, I know what canted sights are and why they exist. They're real and happen to have a neat look/funciton in a video game.

Thank God. We had the same exact discussion in another BF4 thread today so you never know on here...lol

I actually think they'll be a lot more useful in BF4 as well since there's actually a lot of variation in engagement distances compared to COD where it's all close-range anyway which defeats the purpose. in BF, one second you might need close-quarters sights and the next second you'll need some magnification for medium to long-range firefights. I'm happy it's finally in and it was decent in MOH.

As a lifetime fan of single player and co-op campaign games, this was an impressive reveal for me.......its right up my alley

I can see how the large contingent of hard core multiplayer bf fans would be dissapointed with all this because it probably doesn't answer many of their concerns.....that said....come on guys.....its battlefield......you *know* multiplayer is gonna be there and it will be glorious

Or how he managed to chop off the dude's leg in one fell swoop with that knife.

Seriously, it's a game that tries to sell itself on realism, drama, etc. What emotions are they trying to evoke when you slice a person's leg off with a pocket knife in one go?

If PS4 can pull this off without dipping below 30fps (I'd like 60 but being realistic here), I'm sold.

Also, this was actually fun to watch as opposed to Killzone which killed any hype I had for next gen. Hanging off a helicopter in an on rails section for half the video was BORING (shouldn't there be some blur and bobbing/movement when you're moving that fast through the air?)

The last few minutes isn't "variety." It's nothing. Pure smoke and mirrors that loses it's value after one playthrough. They have such, for lack of a less cliche term, visceral audio design and destruction, but it's totally wasted on "wall of noise" scenarios like the stuff in this footage. There's nothing here that screams out "Battlefield's vision of a FPS campaign." It's just like every other post-CoD4 shooter. Obviously multiplayer is where this series shines, but if they're gonna do campaigns, at least do something different.

bf3 was really successful in sales, right?

from a business perspective then, why would they change?

you could say it was due to multiplayer, but regardless campaign is a huge part of the game especially with joe six pack.

i hate cod style campaigns mind you, just looking at it logically.

The most impressive thing is the campaign looks so much better than I thought possible by them.

Any news on the pc specs running it?

Doesn't seem like the game is selling realism at all. Unless you also think Michael Bay sells realism.

This looks great, but gameplay is blah. Same old shit. Current gen gameplay, next gen graphics. But if this is what's to come from next gen, color me excited. We're off to a great start.

3rd person gives you the "true visceral feeling of being behind cover"? I hope that's not what you mean by an evolution in game mechanics.

about the PS4 discussion:

there's no way they're gonna release this running at 30fps again

my guess is that it's gonna look worse than this but be 60fps/1080p

maybe 720, but im guessing 1080

How close would PS4 be to this?

we all think should handle it.

later i'd expect better from next gen.

i even suspect this type of game still has it's roots in current gen, after all there are current gen versions.

in year 2-3 when programmers have a had a couple years, and things start being ground up, it should start being even better. like how gears of war in 2006 was really the first true next gen 360 game. or how killzone 2/uncharted 2 raised the bar in 2008/9.

Nice graphics, as an action movie I mean.
Other than that, the old and boring MMS "gameplay", nothing new, I'm not impressed at all.

This obviously trumped killzone SF. The only areas I can really say Killzone has the advantage is art style, which is an opinionated answer.

Tho I want to see how close the console version of it will look to K:SF. Knowing Dice we probably won't see anything console side for awhile.

I expect the PS4 version to look like that.

I suspect it will, but I also expect the Xbox version will also. The fact that they didn't officially announce it for next gen leads me to believe we'll be seeing it live at the new xbox reveal, and I don't think it will look anything short of spectacular.

I'm not blown away but it definitely looks like one of the better looking titles coming out this fall. I'm impressed and will likely buy it day one.

Well, the social/stats bar I dunno what it's good for, but the order system is potentially interesting and that song choice was great, the chopper blooper scene elicited memories of Saints Row.

Looks great. This is clearly a step up on everything on the market today. Lighting is insane.

Gameplay wise it seems it will be as boring as 3.

Ive got a little wood not gonna lie, time to upgrade the ol'PC.

On a side note PS4 buyers should just save up for a sexy PC when next gen drops hardware prices should drop a little and it should be really comparable in price.

I need this in 1080p 60fps, and if no next-gen console can give it to me, I might have to switch to a PC guy.

This looks so unbelievably good!
