still miles away from what I was expecting. I was expecting near CGI quality or let's say near real life quality. atm I'm disappointed from the footage..

take this as an example. No trolling. This looks nearly the same as BF 3 on Ultra Settings.

Same art design. Lot of disappointing textures but.

Not impressed, explosions look better, there is more shit going on, but the textures(cept the faces and the leg cutting scene) seem BF3 quality. SP might be a bit more interesting with Omar and female soldiers, but you're getting this for the mp.

I'm not the only one who thinks Killzone Shadow Fall looks better, right? Am I crazy?

Depends, this certainly looks more 'realistic' and the lighting is pretty damn good. It also looks fairly drab in parts. It certainly looks more complete at the moment. KZ looks more aesthetically pleasing to me for sure, setting looks far more idealized and impressive (obviously) and scale was more impressive than anything shown here. As I said though, this looks a little more consistant at the moment. If they add more local detail in KZ and brush up some stuff, I think it will definitely come out on top for me. Also, if anything this looked more scripted than the KZ demo. I reckon it will be at least equally linear, if not more so in SP.

Yeah, this is what really got me. Why are the helicopters so close to the action? Why would a random guy drive a jeep into an area where multiple buildings just got blown up and then be like "oh shit, what the fuck!?" when he sees some soldiers? Why would a helicopter chase a jeep for any reason instead of just incinerating it with missiles from a distance. Why would the person driving a jeep be the one to try and shoot down a chopper? It's just all so fucking stupid and really takes away from the amazingly realistic graphics and particle physics. The game looks great but don't insult our intelligence.

yeah! That's part of what I meant in my initial reaction that action tells a story. They are too focused on looking cool to realize there's more than that to produce compelling action. It's moronic even from a Hollywood action perspective.

Press F to cut brain...

Why, when the multiplayer is so expansive, with a large amount of vehicles and objects, does the single player have to be so linear?

Nice trailer, but nothing mind blowing. Damn, which shooter to get for online, when the PS4 launches. That's going to be a tough decision.

Is BF3 not that impressive therefore this BF4 footage isn't impressive? Or BF3 was impressive but because you already saw it, BF4 isn't impressive anymore? Can't expect to get your mind blown with each iteration, esp when BF3 got a head start. I don't play Battlefield but it was pretty damn impressive.

If the console versions can match this, I'll be plenty hyped for next gen.

Is this...is this the footage that was supposed to be an abysmal showing?

If you refer to the RPS article, yes. The graphics and all looked great but like RPS commented, it is all the same crap as usual, they seriously wont give up about shoving down single player down our throats that nobody except a few wants and then don't play for more then once.

Looked pretty, but I kinda just started skipping through it after they had just been shooting for a few minutes. Showing single player is doing the exact opposite of playing to your strengths, dice!

Some of the DoF in there, like when the other guy lifts the concrete off him looks very poor. Still it looks pretty good overall. Watching a second time though, it isn't a particularly big leap over Battlefield 3, but that is to be expected.

Well, they're calling the engine Frostbite 3. The difference between Frostbite 1 and 2 was massive. No so much this time I guess?

Frostbite 1 was developed to run on current gen consoles(and initially only on console, the pc support came with 1.5), Frostbite 2&3 instead are much more modern engines.
Clearly you can't see the same difference between Bad Company(2008 PS3)-Battlefield3 (2011 High End PC) and Battlefield3(2011 High End PC)-Battlefield4(2013 High End PC).

Sure, the difference in graphics isn't the same (hard to achieve in such short amount of time), but I think that the difference in the engines capabilities is still very big.

Definitely the best looking first person shooter ever graphically, although the art style in Killzone looks better to me.

But I was expecting MP like everyone else.

Can't wait to see this game running on 2 Titans. Hell it's probably running on 2 Titans in that trailer.

I still don't see how this is anywhere near abysmal only because they showed single player and not multiplayer. A lot of the time multiplayer doesn't make for the best of trailers anyway, as the single player kind of writes itself and give direction instead of showing a rigged multiplayer match. I get that it is the (much) bigger component here, but him being upset because he didn't get a bunch of multiplayer footage doesn't equal out to an abysmal showing.

SP looks a bit better than BF3 (but still sucks). Graphics are an improvement over BF3, but nothing dramatic - it looks like we entered into dreaded area of diminishing returns when it comes to game engines.

I'm not saying this is the case for everyone, but I think some people cannot appreciate the subtle things going on.

Personally I think it looks amazing.

Do controllers have E buttons?

RPS mention this.

Of course, it couldn’t be shown on PS4 or Xbox 3: The Xboxening at this point, not that it was announced for them nor anything else. But oddly, the soupy movements show it’s being played with a controller. Developers are weird.

Did any other people at the reveal confirm them using a controller or is John Walker assuming?

Lol, that was so bad in so many ways it's not even funny anymore. Fucking Call of Battlefield. Btw I just realized I don't even know if my BF3 single player disc works because I've never played it.

If this game doesn't have destructible enviroments like BF:BC2 did then no thanks. BF3 was beyond stupidity because of that, such a huge step back.

So they do still have some hatred towards emergent gameplay regarding the singleplayer?

I haven't even finished BF3, because it's just so offensive playing a game that constantly tells you "Press E to activate cut-scene which could have been made with gameplay".

I just watched it. It's weird, I wasn't negative about it as much as other here are, I enjoyed what it had to offer. The graphics were really nice for the most part (better than Killzone at least). But, it's just yet another shooter, nothing to get excited for.

Really short areas with the time stamps to load the next area was a big thing I noticed.

Not talking about the vid but rather the QA sessions at the press show.

Oh. Well i don't know, i haven't seen any articles from a QA session. Are there any? One scenario could be that DICE shows up at E3 with BF4 at the Sony presser and announcing it then.
