Man of Steel - Official Trailer #2

Smallville was bizarre. Clark was trying to be a Donner/Comics hybrid while Lex was basically his comic book persona.

Lionel Luther was pretty much Comic Book Lex Luthor as well.

I liked the Lex from the cartoons, serious and competent and suave with the right hint of menace beneath the surface.

yup...morally ambiguous Lex is the best Lex (I really liked him in Young Justice).

He was always handled better on tv back in the day... well accept for what Smallville did which was hilarious lol

LOL! that was the oddest and most unnecessarily confusing shit ever. just...wat.

strangest thing was that I thought the cast was pretty good... they just introduced him too early, made him a main cast billing and literally ran out of things to do with him.

When they realized they fucked up... They retconned the shit out it though.

Jimmy isn't super important, but I would like to have him around. Superman's Pal and all that. Though I'm not gonna cry if he's a woman now.

As for Lex, House of Cards convinced me that Spacey would have been an amazing Luthor. Shame he was wasted on Returns, which had him doing his best Gene Hackman impression. No idea who could do it now.

I want to see a spinoff movie based on the "supermans pal jimmy olsen" comics line. an important plot point would be jimmy marrying a gorilla.

So April 16th looks like the date we could be getting the next trailer, at least according Ayelet Zurer (who plays Supes mother Lara Lor-Van) official Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ayelet-Zurer/276762275787165

What's interesting is that CinemaCon is that week in Vegas and on the 16th is Warner Bros. presentation at the con that'll feature Man of Steel whee they'll like show off the new trailer and finished scenes. So its likely they'll show off the new trailer at the presentation and then debut it online later that night with it attached with Oblivion later in the week.

Disney is doing the same thing by having a presentation on Wednesday, April 17th where they're showing a new trailer and footage for The Lone Ranger and then debuting the trailer later in the day online with a live Q&A.

Arghh I wanted it even sooner.

Okay, this might be the first legitimate scoop Aint it Cool has pulled in like, 5 years. Maybe 6.

But it could be a big'un. So I'm gonna post the link to the story. But for real - it could be considered to be a pretty decent sized spoiler.

If it's true?

I like it.

Supports what I was told about the changed 3rd act. I had assumed the actor playing the character in question would be "bigger" in Hollywood though. It's an odd choice seeing where he has come from recently. Could be inspired casting though.

I have a feeling it's true (well only cause the actor says they're in the movie in that youtube interview and can't comment about the role
he said "what" not who though
... hmmm) I don't trust Harry for scoops esp regarding this film. I'm all for it if they made the character that way, but kinda an odd choice casting wise imo considering how big the film could be (WILL BE!) Not saying the actor is horrible or anything.

Accept errrrrrr now this will be popping up in my head while I watch the film cause of the actor.

*spoiler, don't watch unless you read the Aintitcool stuff*

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfyLyDrUsgA

I wouldn't be surprise by the 3rd act
twist villain
, even if I think it would be using stuff that they could use better in a sequel .... but
the casting ????
That sounds ... wrong

Makes me wonder if a casting like Se7en's serial killer would stay secret in the internet days....

what are ya'll doing in preperation for man of steel?

i've been rewatching the animated series, the fleischer cartoons, re-reading some of my favorite super man stories {red son, all star} and ones with supes prominently in it {kingdom come}

Tonight I am rewatching the first donner film. after I have finished TAS, I will watch the 50's george reeves show. I have no plans to watch smallville or that one with he who must not be named.

Started to re-read some of my trades and pick up some new ones I missed and/or wanted to read like Secret Origins and Birthright, which I lucked out on since it's now out of print(?). Really dug both a lot with some fantastic art. I think tomorrow I'll dust off Secret Identity which one of the best, and my favorite, Superman books.

Got the Justice League animated series on Instant now that they're up on Netflix and currently watching Justice League: Doom. Might watch the film series too since I haven't seen them in a few years and I was DVRing Lois & Clark off The Hub since I hadn't watched that since it first aired and well, my fucking DVR deleted them all. Most likely an act of god or Matrix's fault.

I did pick up the official MOS tee thats a really nice shirt but since Hot Topic sizes their shit for 12 year old girls the Large I got is too small. Of course the tees are all sold out online and in the stores so I'm boned.

Simo, I got it in a Large from hot topic before they sold out online and it's too small too. WTF at there sizes. Really nice official shirt, hopefully they will get more back in stock online.

I also pre-ordered the soundtrack off amazon lol My man of steel whoring has begun.

I need to re-read Birthright and maybe do a Smallville mini-marathon of my favorite episodes soon. It's too bad nobody is taking a crack at a Man of Steel game right now for me to get my hopes up over.

Honestly I think he's playing or just voicing
Brainiac... I hope
since in the interview on youtube he said "what" I'm playing, not who.

I cant see them using
clone Lex from Smallville as real Lex in such a big movie, it's too odd
and he's hardly a known actor while all of the main cast are well known for their respective important roles.

It's different when casting for Superman himself.

"It's too bad nobody is taking a crack at a Man of Steel game right now for me to get my hopes up over. "

I wish :( I bought Superman Returns and the flying was actually decent, the rest of the game was god awful though. They nailed Batman down, someone has to get a Superman game right one day.

Should I check out the spoiler you lot are discussing or is it something that would actually best be experienced while watching the film?

What is it the equivalent of in terms of spoilers compared to TDK?

Experience while watching the film definitely. On a spoiler rating of 1 to 10, it's definitely a 9 in my opinion.

lmao I didn't notice this last night. Smart DVR box :D

Yeah, just zipping around Metropolis was actually quite fun, and the basic game design worked well.

+Super-hearing radar
+Being able to fly miles above the city and "hear" where trouble was brewing
+Picking up an ambulance and bringing it closer to people in need rather than flying injured people one by one to the hospital
+Recharging powers faster if you were closer to the sun
+Finding cats trapped around the city and rescuing them (Superman's confused dialogue about the city's kitten problem were great)
+Superman's sheer speed
+Being able to throw vehicles and various city structures around
+Keeping the city's health in mind a a #1 priority

The game just needed a better variety of things to do and better melee. Plus, some more inventive uses of his powers.

I don't see why, though. It certainly doesn't have to be. The reason you go with an unknown for Superman is so the actor blends into the role more easily. I don't see why that concept would ONLY apply to Superman, or why it should, even.

It might even give a glimpse at how the character could be used in the future -

basically, Luthor & Superman as a bonded pair, if you get my meaning. You get an unknown for Superman and an unknown for Luthor because they're both going to be playing these roles for awhile, and the guy playing Luthor needs to be Luthor more than once, and needs to sink into that role just as much as Cavill needs to sink into Clark - basically, imagine a series of Superman movies (or World's Finest movies) where Luthor is never really the MAIN villain, but always antagonizing and chipping in. Like Lex does best.

I feel like
Lex needs to have a big time screen presence because they won't have as much time to develop his character. He needs to come on screen for the first time and we need to immediately think "oh fuck, this guy is menacing, manipulative and confident in his ability to humiliate and shame supes". Going with someone who recently played a Lex clone in a low budget CW show just strikes me as a strange direction.

Injustice will have to fill that void. Speaking of which...demo in 2 days!!

Is SR: The Game worth trying 6 years on and for $10?

Really wish somebody would do take a crack at a good Superman game like Rocksteady handled Batman. :(

I'm not doing anything to get ready for MoS. :(

I suppose I could finally read Secret Identity. I think that's the only one of the "required reading" Superman stories I haven't read.

its probably the best superman story ever

What flash said is actually more how I feel. I decided to watch the actor too outside of his role on
Smallville as Lex clone
and he is frankly a bleh actor imo, though it could have been the movie itself Grave Encounters that influenced my views on this guy since it was god awful.

I just don't see this actor fitting the role for this movie
(5-10 mins of smallville screen time with Tom Wellings shitty acting is one thing)
a huge movie like this is a whole different beast imo.

I mean why not go for unknowns in all the roles? Jor-el is important and always has been. Lois is extremely important.

I like your idea, but I don't think they're going that route at all.

lol Simo

Dm... wtf you made fun of me for playing it and you played it more than me! lol

For $10 you'll get a fun flying game with a big city to zip around. It has it's moments, but it is still a mediocre at best game.

I would have liked to see RealTime Worlds off the heels of Crackdown take a shot at it. They did a good job of making you feel like an overpowered badass once while still having a fun gameplay mechanic around it.

I really hope the rumor isn't true.

I've been wanting a Lex that played up his strive to be the best mankind has to offer. I want him to be the human equivalent to Superman, with a genius intellect, and perfect body. This guy is just too old and feeble looking to pull that off.

We kind of saw Zod's helmet thing on the packaging of the Lego set but CostumeCraze posted, and subsequently removed, photos of the Rubies Costumes MOS stuff including a better look at the helmet. I'll just link it due to spoilers:

I mean it's a crappy low quality mask but I dig the Ridley Scott/Alien-esque design.

If any of you are into collecting then Mattel's Movie Masters 6" line made it to eBay today but I think they all sold out.

I don't want to break my no action figures rule. I don't want to break my no action figures rule. I don't want to break my no action figures rule.

I for one do not believe the rumors.
Look at the actors they've assembled, for Perry White, for his parents (biological and adoptive). I don't see them going for a no-name, and I also don't see them wanting any ties to Smallville. My guess is he is either voicing Braniac or if he is playing Lex then it is something that is shot in such a way that they can replace him in the sequel with a bigger name.

I'm breaking mine... I can't help it (but only for the movie Masters). At least I can use my nephew as an excuse lol

"I'm waiting for hottoys to show off their MoS range"

That's what I'm waiting for. I hope their Cavill Supes is as perfect as the Reeve one.

This movie is gonna break my bank account.
