Almost the same thing that happened last year (and around the same time?) with Kobe and Ricky Rubio.... karma too much?

Erik Karlsson
;(
Kobe isn't a hockey player. He'll be out for a while.
Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson was injured during a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Feb. 13 when Penguins forward Matt Cooke‘s skate blade inadvertently cut Karlsson’s Achilles’ tendon.
In fact, Renaud Lavoie of RDS tweeted that Karlsson could be back within 3-4 weeks
Uh. Kobe rarely misses games for injuries. He always plays through his ailments. We're not talking about Dwyane Wade here.lol, thinking the same thing.
Fucking pussies.
It's a shame he doesn't have an upset tummy or a sore pinkie. Otherwise everyone would know for sure that he'd be out for exactly 6 weeks.
karma for what?

This needs it's own topic in OT?

For those not in the know...
OH GOD CAREER ENDING INJUR- oh wait...
And this isn't some scrub either. This is a guy who won the Norris trophy last year for best defenceman.
last time people were crying about a Kobe injury, dude came back and played the next game. No disrespect, but it's Hollywood. The witch ain't ever really dead, dead. Always expect a twist.

Are you serious? Kobe's the ultimate warrior. He's played through more injuries than anyone in the league. He's the toughest guy in the league and one of the toughest athletes overall. What kind of shit post was that... you couldn't have possibly picked a worse candidate to call a pussy than Kobe Bryant.

You know, I got banned for a month for a post like this..

Saying you're the "toughest guy in the league" in NBA is like saying you're the strongest weightlifter in the chemotherapy clinic.
What did he play through, a sore wrist and a booboo on his knee?
He's always had a busted knee and fingers. Both are pretty crucial for a shooting guard in the league. Regardless, the point was that he doesn't take excessive time off for his injuries, like you implied.Saying you're the "toughest guy in the league" in NBA is like saying you're the strongest weightlifter in the chemotherapy clinic.

You know there's an NBA thread, yeah? Or should every sports league start making a new post every time a player gets an unexceptional injury?
Doubt Karlsson is coming back any time soon. It has barely been two months since that injury. Ottawa would be foolish to rush their superstar defeseman back early too. Shut him down for the season.

And now it seems like you don't even care for basketball, so I'm not sure why you're in this thread. Move on.
If this was the NBA-gaf thread I surely would move on. But this is a thread in OT about an NBA superstar with an injury that could hardly be classified as exceptional. I'm going to call a spade a spade in such a domain, and you're just going to have to either ignore me or see it for what it is.
Unexceptional.
I'll come back here with a plate of crow if his career is finished because of it, but when I see gentlemen being completely leveled and concussed, make limbs move in directions a body is not intended to move, lacerated and having pucks shot in their face and body every single day then something like a torn Achilles comes off as completely vanilla in comparison.
If he seriously retires straight away because of it? Then feel free to take any claims of 'toughest guy in the league' and subtly put them in a locked box in your attic.
You're incredibly ignorant to how serious and devastating an injury a completely torn achilles tendon is. What an awful post.
good post, no sarcasm or ironyCan't we all just agree that baseball is less of a sport than cheerleading?
Is this the first achilles tendon injury you've ever witnessed in sports or something?

Sad. Can't help to think he wouldn't be hurt if he was playing in another system and not under Dantoni's.

So you're comparing an AT injury in a sport where you ice skate, to one where you have to run, make cuts, stop on a dime, change direction etc? This needs it's own topic in OT?

2. It's about Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest NBA players, possibly suffering a career ending injury. The guy is 34, comparatively old for an active NBA player, and still playing at an elite level. That's why it's exceptional. People recover from these injuries, but at Kobe's age, it may potentially end his career or severely hamper him if/when he returns.
ice skate ... to one where you have to run, make cuts, stop on a dime, change direction etc?
No it's not. An OT doesn't mean no other threads can't be created. Considering the discussion this thread has already had, you're in the wrong here. Not the sole reason of the post. And completely justified since there's a place for NBA discussion already.
His status makes the situation exception but the injury itself is overcome every single season by various different players of various other leagues. Your golden boy is coming back to Staples Center after 4-6 months of rehab.
If he retires, a cup of cement is required.
If he comes back, and is hampered in his production, THEN it becomes a story. A fall from grace of a once glorious NBA superstar. Until then, it just sounds like complete melodrama.
Did they say how bad is the cut?

You've never skated before, have you? You skate hard, "make cuts" and "stop on a dime" and "change direction" on the ice too. Except you've got this lovely thing called velocity working against you. We're done before you even started.
Really the Thunder? A team with a guy that had a rule named after him? Oh and that Harden foul was in no way clean.A decade of some of the most hilarious foul calls in the history of sports? Last year vs. the Thunder in the playoffs was a constant joke.
Sefolosha 18 inches from forearm on a jumper? Foul.
Harden clean strip? Foul
Westbrook looks at Kobe? Foul X2

How did it affect the players vertical jump? I don't think any guard has recovered effectively from a torn Achilles. Look what happened to Isiah Thomas and Chauncey Billups. Let alone big men like Barkley and Shaq.
Likely a complete tear.
Really was the worst season I can remember.
buss dying, pringles getting hired over phil, lakers fighting for 8th place with a all-star lineup, and now kobe pretty much ending his career to carry bums into the playoffs.
crying time.

Perhaps it's the system he's playing under, but I was led to believe that Kobe was more of a playmaker/"Pass first" player nowadays? I never took his jump into consideration because of this, but that's a good point.

that's because kobe bryant by himself is more culturally significant than the nhl has ever been in its entire history
