Giant Bomb Thread #4: A thread of perceived slights

Typical bombcast is about 3 hours in length.

However, it takes about an hour for Ryan to edit and upload the thing, sooo yeah any time now.

edit: BREAKING FLASHING UPDATE NEWS:

I no longer know where this podcast is going. Did I ever? I feel like Leonardo DiCaprio in Shutter Island.

These two are legitimately good

I have realized a legitimate way to see more Dark Souls on Giant Bomb. Fuck the endurance run that shit will never happen, work with what assets currently exist. Vinny enjoyed Dark Souls, Vinny has not yet completed Dark Souls, Vinny you must "Load Your Last Save". Wednesday video content that I think anyone can get behind.

I'm all for a Vinny Wednesday where he just plays Dark Souls until it's done. Sounds like a way better idea than the new releases show.

They cancelled it (FOREVER) last week

Didn't cancel it; They're "retooling" it. It's currently only going to happen once a month, supposedly.

I expect that when it does happen again, it will only vaguely resemble its earlier incarnation.

Look on the bright side: At least they pulled it fairly early, unlike Happy Hour which had clearly run out of steam months before it got pulled.

I enjoyed happy hour as i did the Wednesday show.

I blame all the people crying about GS being involved. It did great in terms of viewers but too many people bitched about gamespot being on it. If they come back without the presence of GS that would be shitty to give in to the crybabies.

They have so many segments that they are just sitting on. Breaking Brad, Bradley May Cry, Flight Club, Random PC Game, Jar Time, Spookin with Scoops, Jurrasic Lark, Load My Last Save and the like. Just revolve one of those every Wednesday and I'd be happy.

My problem with it was less the GS people and more how redundant most of it was, as nearly all the games featured already had a Quick Look.

I think it would have had value if they had gone plunging into the depths of PSN, XBLA and Steam releases that normally were overlooked instead of the big retail box games.

Yeah, and some of the games they showed off on the Wednesday show didn't even get a QL. If they retool it to a once-a-month thing where they just show off their favorite games of the month it might be more interesting.

Ultimately thet started it in a time of the year that is way too lean for new releases.

They should do another "GiantBomb is the New Wikipedia" show.

I really thought Encyclopedia Bombastica would have been a cool series, but it seems like no one but Alex and Jeff gave a shit about it.

Patrick said on his tumblr that he will start reconrding bombastica now that he has a proper pc setup at home. The other two still don't give a shit tho.

Was Encyclopedia Bombastica supposed to be that 'Gerstmann Hall of Fame' idea they were tossing around, or simply the 'quick look everything' idea? I thought the were the same thing at times, but I think I recall Jeff wanting the Hall of Fame feature to be properly produced.

Bombastica came out of the Hall of Fame idea. The games that he has done for it so far were meant to be the Hall of Fame games.

Really with Vinny now being a father and having less and less time to play games they should just turn Wednesday into the "Vinny Gets To Play Games Wednesday Stream". Vinny makes progress in whatever game he is currently playing at work because his time at home is being occupied by his son. Basically what they were saying on the podcast.
