Videogame facts that blow your mind (SuperMarioBros. SHOCKING SECRET INSIDE p #70)

I don't know, scales don't have anything to do with how long he can hold his breath, just his diving depth. You'd have to throw on some iron boots without the blue tunic to see how long he can hold his breath.

The amount of time Link can stay underwater with the iron boots equipped without drowning is dependant on how many heart containers he has. Which is a tidbit some people may not know.

Yeah, two seconds per quarter heart, so the minimum is 24 seconds. And the time limit for being in a hot area without the Goron Tunic is the same.

On a side note, the game can actually be beaten without either tunic and without any extra Heart Containers, although you cut it very close on a few rooms of the Fire Temple.

Young Link can't use any of those items, and the shortcut is blocked off as an adult.

So really there's no way to know how long young Link can hold his breath I guess. Though I'm pretty sure I've gotten him stuck under things on his way up from a dive and he can stay underwater forever...

Old but fun.

As most know, Akira was originally Shenmue's protagonist.

So...please tell me I'm not the only one who had no idea you could kill the Piranha plant boss in Yoshi's Island before the battle even begins?

I love when game developers do this.

The first Kingdom Hearts is particularly thorough about making alternate cut scenes for players who tackle the worlds out of order. For instance, going to Monstro after beating Hollow Bastion and
finding out Riku has been possessed by Ansem the whole time
will trigger completely different cut scenes every time
Riku
appears.

I just saw this on Reddit..... well. Mind have been blown

"In the original draft, the main character was an Indiana Jones-type mouse named Kit Colby who sported a fedora and a fluffy collared leather jacket"
"The pair were given clothes—Chip the clothing of the original concept Kit, while the goofier Dale was modeled after Magnum, P.I. with his Hawaiian shirt."

Since it's Star Wars day, what about that Sam and Max reference in Star Wars Shadows of the Empire?

I forgot how gorgeous that game was. Is the gba port lacking? I know Yoshi's island extensively used the superFX chip.

It's pretty close, but the music and FX effects take a beating, such as with the Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy level that looks terrible now, as well as the lava effects IIRC

US/PAL Super Mario Bros. 2

Intro

When Mario opened a door after climbing a long stair in his dream, another world spread before him and he heard a voice call for help to be freed from a spell. After awakening, Mario went to a cave nearby and to his surprise he saw exactly what he saw in his dream. . . .

So, Mario is awake during his adventure Subcon? But we all know that's not how the story ends:

So Mario dreamed about finding a path to another world, and then "woke" from that dream into another where he defeated Wart. Inception 1988.

Yup, Ryo was originally going to be Akira, and it was even confirmed by the developers. But it is still a cool piece of trivia though.

Look at the early footage from Project Berkley:

And the early Saturn build:

Now promotional CGI art of Akira that was made for Virtua Fighter 2:

Check out those red and black arm bands...

They were a staple of the character from the VF2 era.

Yeah, the PS2 thing is based on your memory card.

Weird how I thought that was common knowledge and yet didn't know the Yoshi's Island one above. I even finished that game twice.

Ehhhhh... I can see the possibility, but outside the use of a common name and a generic "martial arts girl in a gi" concept, there's not much there. A quick look on YouTube, it doesn't look like Makoto and Ryoko share moves or anything.

I guess it's possible.

Is based on:

The relationship between Baloo and Rebecca owes something to the screwball comedy films of the 1930s. More precisely, according to Jymn Magon (co-creator of the series), the two characters were fashioned after Sam Malone and Rebecca Howe from the then-popular sitcom Cheers.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TaleSpin

Baloo & Becky were fashioned after Sam & Rebecca from the (then) popular sitcom "Cheers." Baloo loses his business and winds up working for a woman who lacks his knowledge and experience, but who (as his boss) harps on his careless ways. Sound familiar? It was a good dynamic

Kind of funny that the original character from Rescue Rangers was named Kit Colby, too, given that the kid from Talespin was named Kit Cloudkicker. Guess they just used the name later.

I'm either stupid, or a genius.
In the Alice Madness Returns Config menu, it shows Alices brain and options.
At first, I was like whatever, who cares.
But recently (today) I noticed that the options all point to specfic locations of the brain, so I thought, what if those options are actually associated with those actual parts of our brain, and lo and behold, I was right.
Audio - Thats where our auditory sense is located
Video - That's where our visual sense is located
Controls - That's where our senser motor area is located.

I don't know about the Save Data, and that being where our memories are held, but if so..god damn.

Sorry I had to share what blew my mind.

PS: Sorry if there are any spelling mistakes and what not, posting from Steam.

Huh, never even thought about it. That's pretty slick, thanks for sharing Ice!
