Command & Conquer 3 Demo IS HERE

Are the system requirements more lenient than Supcom? I was a huge TA fan back in the day, but I haven't even bothered touching the Supcom demo since with my fairly new 7600GT card I got last July the benchmarks say I'd get like 10fps on high at 1280x1080. :(

Supcom runs fine with my 7600GS, not as good as company of heroes though, which runs smooth as butter with everything on ultra, but definitely very playable. It could be my dual-core processor that takes over a lot of the hard labour from the graphics card though...

Now that I think about it, what really helped me get a decent performance boost was overclocking my 7600GS a bit, core clock and memory clock can easily run 50 mhz higher and that seemed to push it enough to give really good performance.

Ow and downloading the demo now :P

C&C Demo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD WTF WHERE ARE MY SEDATIVES AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

ahem... this is great, really looking forward to give this a go tonight.
Any news on a 360 demo?

I have to give this a thumbs up if only becuase unlike generals(which I did enjoy) this one actually seems to have some semblence of a storyline. They also made the whole thing feel a little more like CnC , generals felt like a bizarre cross between warcraft and command and conquer.

This game is awesome shit. This will get me back in pc gaming and it works great in 1280x1024 High gfx too on my 3.5 years old pc.

So with medium highish effects on, are the graphics as good as the screens from months ago or as assy as the ones from the first page of this thread?

I was super excited about this game until I saw those two new pics :(

OMG this game is awesome! The speed of the battles are perfect, day one purchase confirmed. BTW How did you guys tackle the 2nd GDI Mission? I didn't really use my Mammoth Tanks, I just bombed all the objectives with my Orcas.

Edit:Oh and the FMV's were so good, the one at the end of the 1st GDI Mission OMG!

I don't understand why I build groups of three dudes instead of just one dude, I guess just to tax my computers so Johnny Super Gaming PC can have more polygons onscreen? That's sort of a bummer, since I like the one dude aesthetic better anyway :(

Also, just so people keep getting the hang of how it runs: I've got to turn things down a bit on my top of the line C2D MBP. Installing it on my desktop now, which is even slower!

Yeah I didn't think I'd be purchasing this from day 1, but tomorrow morning I'm gonna go pre-order. The feel, speed, interface, presentation all strike hella good chords with me. Everything from the Main Menu onwards was just right.

And by the way guys, the demo is huge because it's got a bunch of live-action HD videos in there with Michael Ironside briefing you of your missions, in classic C&C style. Fantastic.

Exact way I felt, this wasn't even a blip on my radar but the presentation feels so great that it really pulls you in to the universe. Also, I don't know what monitors you guys have but on my widescreen Samsung the HD cutscenes are pure sex.

So I just tried a skirmish to check out the full brunt of the GDI force. They've got some cool units going on, and well this really is classic style CnC in 3d. I'm assuming the skirmish map being called small town is hopefully a sign that it's the smallest size map. My biggest complaint with 3d RTS is that outside of supcom NONE of them have big maps, it's a bunch of tight corridors. The skirmish map in the demo reminded me of RA2 and that's a good thing.

Just finished the Demo, and it was awesome! :)

Had to turn off the shadows to get things running silky smooth at 1600x1200, but no big problem. I love the FMV's btw, really professional looking, plus that good-looking girl from battlestar galactica (Boomer). I'll be buying it at Launch definitely.

EA really knew what they were out to make here, and did it extremely well from the looks of the demo. The C&C franchise has never played this fast and arguably as intense as it does now (and I played a ton of Red Alert / RA2 ). It definitely looks to have a spot in a crowded RTS field, that's for sure.

The single-player is also very, very well done. The hard AI on the demo campaign map proved quite decent, and did smart things like timely use EMP against me and churn out and send units in proper waves. It seemed very competent, as opposed to the demo AI in SupCom, which was inept (I haven't got the full version of SupCom yet, still in transit).

The skirmishing was brutal against a hard AI. I eeked out one win, but it was rough. It's a very capable AI and I look to hone my skills against it in preparation for the final release. After I realized that the map is way more oriented to constant and concerted offense, I was able to dispatch a hard AI without too much trouble, but it was very engaging and I loved that I was in constant combat from the 2:30 mark all the way until I was in their base killing their dudes.

A+ demo. I do have some complaints-the minimap could be more informative, air power is underpowered completely, and the demo map doesn't lend well to high-end units-in my games, the match was over right about the time my tech center was built. So no zone troopers or mammoth tanks in any of my games against the hard AI.

What can I say, amazing demo. The videos are a real nice touch and the gameplay feels more pre-generals which is amazing.

I found the AI to be pretty tought on medium but when I buy the game I hope to become a lot better!

If you liked the demo you will love the full game *wink* *wink*

Is really great and will work in most systems. Is going to be an absolute blast in multiplayer.

Great times for strategy I say, Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander and this one are great and very different games, each one offering something unique. Even turn based games around are really nice, like Civ 4 or GalCiv 2.

Will have to get this game.. I would've gotten Supreme Commander but my 3200+/1GB/6800GT PC just can't hope to cope with it.

I might buy this for the 360 too..

Anyone worried about whether their computer can handle this probably shouldn't. My olde 9600xt handles it just fine on medium settings.

So that's the full GDI tech tree in the demo? Only three tanks and a super unit? Where's all the cool vehicles from Tiberian Sun like those hover missile launchers?

Use the words "cool" and "Tiberian Sun" again and we will have issues you friend. Pistols at dawn issues if you catch my drift. Never mention that shitpile abomination of a game again.

The pics on the first page are probably medium settings because it looks a lot better than that on my PC.

Game is awesome. So awesome. Runs beautifully on my machine, with everything turned all the way up, too. :) (3.4ghz, 1 gig RAM, X800XT)

ZOMG
I played skirmish for 45 mins... it was so GLEE, pure awesomeness... I undersestimated the AI, and they took over one of my plants, then the computer created turrets within my base... it was awesome.

I was a huge fan... and the first impression was more than positive... I was going to wait for the 360 (my laptop aint that good), but I might be too weak to wait...

I just got some C&C RedAlert flashbacks before seeing this thread.

700kbps sweetness

I'm kind of disappointed re: progress from RA, but I'll probably still be able to have fun with it. I miss sprite-based RTSs with their nice grids and bright colors!

Cool. This is really good. I ran at 1280X1024 with everything on high settings except Anti-aliasing on level 2. It ran fine without any problem. Don't know what will happen during peak of the battle. I screwed up my first run. It was constantly telling me "Silos needed, silos needed, silos needed", so I built 6-7 silos, and ran out of space to build airfield within range. I was selling my building to make a room for airfield, and sold main construction unit. BOOM! Game Over. It didn't even confirm. Game should not allow me to do that. Game does have few levels of zooming so you can see actions closely. I'm running on 7600GT (256MB). I'm buying this game.

i'm loving this. loving it. just played it for like an hour and a half. the videos were so funny and well done, the campaign seemed like it would be a lot of fun, and the skirmish was the best skirmish i've played since ra2. the game is very well balanced and the units are all uniquely awesome. it's engrossing and fun. probably the best rts i've played in a while.

First Post :P.

Just dld the CnC3 demo, and it seems cool so far. I just got the SupCom and Company of Heroes demos too, and I'm not sure which one to play. Hmmm

I've only played the demos for C&C3 and SupCom, but I can tell you that CoH is the best thing to happen to RTS in a long time. It has innovations that I've never seen in RTS's before, like deformable terrain (that stays there permanently), placement directions for weapons that work (i.e. a machine gun unit facing one way, and if it is flanked from behind will be totally destroyed), and a more tactical atmosphere. It results in a more personal, but slower paced game.

C&C3 looks like a lot of fun, an updated version of the old franchise. Nothing groundbreaking, but improvements in all the right places.

And the chick from Battlestar Galactica is hot.

awesome game, great scaling on older machines. It runs amazingly well on my 9800 pro, mostly high settings with no frame rate issues when there are tons of units on the screen. This is a must buy for me

Hahahahahaha.

I doubt it'll even load on that thing, GMA900 doesn't even have hardware T&L.

60fps GMA 900 FTL :-(

I guess I will have to play it on my media PC (7600 GS) :D

Has anyone been running this on a Macbook Pro with 1gig ram under bootcamp, would really like to try the demo but don't fancy the 1.2gig download if it will run like ass.

Thanks
