Forza Motorsport 5 announced

Ah, I love the heady days of optimism and excitement before the big reveal.

You know, before the crushing weight of cynicism ruins us all. lol

Edit: DAAMMMNNN, SarBear be gettin brutal!

Where's the optimism? ;)

I wonder how cheap the licensing for ford Australia vehicles is now that ford is pulling out of local manufacturing and they need cash bad.
I know Ford's "Car of the Future" will be in pCARS, not sure about anything else. Shame, because honestly, screw the V8 Supercars, I want some of Ford's primo road-going Falcons in a game. Last one I remember having was something like the GT in NFS3 :(

lol after a while, the fumes and the noise would get the best of your head.
virtual dyno is better for "all day" i think :)
or something like this
Huh, I've never seen an engine-only dyno before. Hell, even something like that in Forza would be great (but obviously car + engine = easier to model). I just don't understand why it's so hard when all that stuff supposedly gets calculated anyway.

yeah! where is it? the reveal was 3 days ago, and it was a fuckin' toombstone! where have ya been? :D

nah, engine dynos are better for work. and are better for your head too, if you want to spent all days there :) for looks is always better the fat car on the dyno 8)

now, for gaming.. to have engine dyno as a tool, and not just as a gfx view like "omg car on a dyno", that means that in order to have the very least ability to finetune advance, boost and fueling, a proper system of calculating engine wear, damage, indicators etc should exist before that dyno. otherwise, everybody just yank boost to the max, run as lean as possible and call it a day.. while in reality, this setup would hardly last 400m.
so, since there is no such proper system in place (nothing of all these factors is calculated or even given existence), I wouldnt expect a dyno feature to pop-up at forza, unless it was for graphics showoff reasons.

Helios, you need to yank Dan's beard and kick him in the balls every single day until he sorts this shit out. Do you understand the incredulity and backlash that will happen if FM5 launches without FFB wheel support? Turn 10 would be a laughing stock. Do you know that I (and thousands of other Fanatec owners) won't even consider buying an XBone, let alone FM5, if our expensive racing rigs aren't supported?

(Disclaimer: I know Dan isn't in charge of these decisions but he must carry some weight with the MS suits, especially now that he looks like an Eastern European gangster).

After listening to Dan through the link Helios provided, I'm convinced he has a say in things. I've never heard him talk like that before. He is a really smart dude man!
Anyway, it sounded like the tech guys and devs(in particular Turn 10) worked really close together during Xbox One development. He must've said something surely?

And my big fucking fear is that naked knee-length beard Dan will finish up his stage demo of FM5 with "and now... the news Forza fans have been waiting YEARS for... ladies and gentlemen, in partnership with Mattel, I give you the official Xbox One Forza FFB wheel!".

Splits, headspin, moonwalk stage left.

I would literally eat my own torso.

Yea......there's a lot of 'em in this thread. Not really sure why. If you're not interested in Forza, and you're not impressed by the visuals from the one (1) trailer released.....ok, that's fine. Keep it movin'. That's one more copy of the Limited Edition to go around for us diehards.

Granted, Turn10 really better bring their A-game to E3. They're (unfortunately) not just selling a game, they're also responsible to sell a new VCR/DVD player combo. And they definitely have what it takes. They have the talent. They have the resources (shit, I purchased EVERYTHING available for Forza4). They have the community managers in place. Make it happen.

By the way, where the fuck is Jube? Not to knock anything against Helios. Good guy. But where the heck is Jube? :)

I think that's a big a clue as you'll find that wheels over USB will be allowed - Logitech has said no, Thrustmaster has been working closely with Sony, and Fanatec is a tiny little company. Microsoft tried their hand at making their own, and that didn't work out well for anybody.

There's no place left to turn.

all signs point to "no". its a microsoft thing, not t10 fault, but I cant help but remember how kaz of polyphony complained to sony about the lack of rumble in the first version of ps3...
maybe Dan should at least do that, or even more, since everybody who bought them fanatec wheels bought them exclusively for forza..

I have to keep hope. I actually never thought that my wheel setup would be the determining factor in buying X1, it's funny how that turned out. I realize that not everything is 'future proof' but come on, this is the age of adaptation, things move forward, it's a $300-600 peripheral that should be taken into account. I refuse to buy another wheel and I won't play Forza without one.

Seriously, questions need to be answered! I'm surprised Thomas doesn't 'know' ... how could they not? And for all the testers with F5, you're telling me NONE of them use a wheel? You're going to have a playable demo and it's going to be with a controller? I don't see that happening.

Ha, he's been keeping himself very busy! He's had a large hand in making the recent improvements and additions to the livestreams on the ForzaMotorsport twitch.tv channel - http://www.twitch.tv/forzamotorsport/b/400935379

Thanks a lot!

Hey, quick question. I understand you can't comment on things specifically when it comes to Forza 5. But I'm dying to know......as a diehard fan of the core franchise, and as someone who is furiously masturbating in anticipation of Forza 5 details, would you say that certain advances in this iteration were made in direct response to fanbase criticisms/responses/wants/hopes/dreams/MUSTANG? Or is it simply a team creation (which you and I both know is b.s.) ala Forza4?

I'm being as nice as I can today. I really am.

I'm not at all surprised Thomas doesn't know. Unless he's being contracted to build XO wheels, they're not going to tell him, or anybody else who doesn't need to know.

Avoiding to comment on wheel issue after many members asked the same question is also the answer.

I understand Helios, Thank you for that.

I wish best to you and all your T10 colleagues in forthcoming months and I hope somebody will actually realize the scope of this issue.

I wish PD was always this clear when it comes to communication.

That's nice but if Kinect is that good, why not this:

In cockpit view, Kinect reads the motion of your hands and you can fiddle around in the cockpit. So the animation of changing gears and stuff will be done in real time (sort of) as Kinect picks up the motion of your hands? Maybe it can track head/eye movement and the camera pans to wherver you're looking?

If i'm driving with one hand it'll reflect on the game? Motion for a handbrake and it'll happen in game?

One can dream...
I was just thinking about the possibilities of the new kinect.
Now, i've never used a Kinect before, but if what i'm hearing about the new one is correct, it basically trounces the old one.
Now, I don't really care for it during a race. Traditional wheel and controller is just fine.
But what about in the upgrades/customization/tuning department?

A sort of interactive garage of sorts?

What if we can use kinect to actually paint our cars?
Kind of like a virtual spray booth using motion to simulate a spray gun.

How about using kinect to choose and apply decals and vinyls?
Grab a decal from the option list, then proceed to move around the car and applying it at any place you like.

Same thing with wheels. Navigate through the option list. Pick the set of wheels you want, move up to the car and install wheels.
The same can also be done to body kits.

Using kinect for upgrading performance parts?
The ability to open hoods and apply engine mods?
Grab the part you want, lets say an intake, and proceed to install on engine.

After all this, proceed to the dyno. Again, using Kinect, test and tune your car.

If there's anything that would get me excited for Kinect it would be this.

Obviously, the traditional controller input would still be available for those who don't care for the interactivity.

Hey guys,

I don't want to cherry pick answering certain questions as I don't want to give the impression that a non-answer to anything means something bad.

i think we understand perfectly.
I wouldn't blame you if you just disappeared for a while, because you're going to be inundated with questions you can't answer.

Me, i won't ask questions.

i'll just leave this single, harmless image here

One thing I didn't like about Forza 4 was the fact that some of their tracks, Bernese Alps the foremost, wasn't based on reality, but had some fantasy elements instead. Just look at these pictures. Berner Oberland in Gran Turismo is looking like something that could exist (I thought I somewhere read that the track was based on a hiking path over there) whereas that Bernese Alps track is like something from a Heinlein novel. And I had the impression that that Prague City track also looked a bit futuristic.

wait, lol......wat?

Mods don't know that. And I'm sure the poster you directed it toward know that either.

You're really being a crybaby about it at this point. Boy, stahp.

Edit: Let's just talk about something else other than your feelings being hurt and your disinterest in Forza. Wait...that would put you out this thread, right?

You're being overtly aggressive to all sorts of posters. It's unwarranted.

As long as the track is fun. I don't see much reason to complain =P.

I mean.. it's a sim, why not try making some fantasy tracks? Sure real life things are neat, but the digital world is a playground, for all sorts of maps.

Like Fujima Kaido is really fun. Not real, but still super fun.

Overtly aggressive to all sorts of posters? Interesting. I'll wait for your analysis of that. Actually, I won't. Don't generalize my posts because you can't handle that I didn't ask nor invite your opinion to my statement about Perfect Dark Zero. Seriously. Can't handle me? That's fine. Here's the beauty of it: I post 99% of the time in a Forza-only thread and I'm quite accustomed and acquainted with everyone in here.

I don't know what else to tell you.

I don't know what else to tell you.

You accused me of bringing shit in here, trying to accuse me of some GT vs Forza shit when I was ONLY talking about Forza, I didn't mention any other game ONCE, and THEN you tell someone to slit their wrists.

Calm down. Seriously.

So now we're at the point in our relationship where you lie to me? LIE to me? C'mon, we're better than that. Please show me in black and white where I accused you of "some GT vs Forza shit."

Don't worry, I have nothing to do at work today but review a few files, so I'll wait on this one.

You're a broken record, man. You're in the wrong thread, let me promise you that. Your antics won't get you very far. lol

Yep, I'm in the wrong thread.

Which thread are you saying I'm trying to make this?

I clicked on the FM5 announce thread, and I talked specifically about FM5.

You didn't say it directly, but I can't see what else you were trying to imply.

Hm, aint that the truth dude. Just wait til you meet her! She is something amazing. Might bring the dude with the shit-hot GT500 and his hot GF also.

:( I'm already jealous. I'm working on the marriage part. We'll see. It's still amazing to see that transformation you made from wanting nothing to do with a real relationship to diving in head first. I admire that.

Surely Forza5 ought to mess that up for both you and me. lol

Yup, it is what happens when you find the perfect woman. Plus, we both let each other have some "fun" so it is all good.

And you know she loves Forza! She will be watching, and maybe joining, our soon to be starting Forza 5 league.
