Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Collector's Edition revealed, releasing August 27th

Flop. Where is the PC pre order with that? :)
Funny thing is, the first day they allowed pre-orders at EBGames.ca it was listed as PC. I pre-ordered, and then next day I noticed it was changed to "Playstation 3". ~_~

I should have realized, considering it was for the $79.99 price [and not $69.99, the PC CE cost], but I guess I was too excited. :(

Needless to say, I canceled and pre-ordered the PC Collector's Edition from Square Enix's store. It's unfortunate to pay $12 for standard shipping [and having to deal with Digital River], but it seems [at least for now] that the PC CE is exclusive to their store. I didn't want to risk missing out on it, so I pre-ordered right away.

I already have the OG CE.

Oh snap :O slayyyyy

EDIT: wait I think I remember someone telling me you played the original. Lucky ;_;

DigitalRiver? RIP Chrono

As long as it's not fucking Castrum Novum again, I'm game.

With jump and false barriers removed, it shouldnt be as by the numbers as the usual stronghold mission....I hope.

EDIT: Paladin is a little more handy in combat than just being a healing tank, so i'd think Dark Knight will work out fine when it hits.

I was a main DRK for 5 years, with all its drawbacks, but it was amazing. Best time was during the 2-handed buff lol, still a great experience all around tho.
I was in the same boat, played it for the same amount of time probably. I just always wished that the job had more unique/useful casting stuff going on. Most fun I had with it was around level 20 way back in like 2003 or something when the spells like Drain and Aspir felt important. By the time I quit if you were casting more than once every five minutes you were just wasting an attack round. Would have been cool if they had expanded on its ability to stun or something.

I also wish FFXIV left the tails on their 'Galka' race. :(

Trust me, I know!

I've never had a problem-free experience with them [that's being generous], with my most recent being the Wizard's Edition. I did receive the game, although the headache/worry surrounding the whole thing was...well...irritating.

Unfortunately, if I want the PC CE [and I do], I really don't have any other choice but to deal with them. I really wish less companies would use DR as a service, but I guess they're cheap to hire or something [wow, I wonder why!?].

Here's hoping things go well, although I'm half-expecting that they won't.

It will probably be fine! Hey at least we got our WE in the end :3

True enough!

Either way, I will remain cautiously optimistic. I'm not particularly worried about not receiving the Collector's Edition, but more about late/missing delivery. At the very least, we shouldn't get double-charged like some did with the Wizard's Edition, considering we paid the cost now instead of later on at release.

So there's that! :)

Actually, does anyone know the answer to this?

Due to an error on Amazon's part, I still have an unopened OG CE lying around.

That's pretty much completely useless now, right?

The problem with DRK is you have to gimp yourself to not die. I loved going out as /WAR and spamming Guillotine but once I had to sub THF I said fuck this stupid job. DRK/THF was not fun at all and THF is a stupid job in general. I never invited THFs to exp, especially when I was leveling NIN.

DRK/NIN wasn't too bad, I loved getting spampage party invites <3

You can maybe use the Buddy Pass for a second account, and the Onion Helm for any new characters you make under your account. Not sure if your character Ravi can use it though.

Yeah, I think 1.0 registrations are closed forever, though? Meaning the codes in it are no longer valid.

I had hoped I could give it to a friend from XI, but I don't think that can happen now.

Haven't played FFXI in ages, but I was at least bursting drain spells all the time to stay buffed and I had lots of fun doing that. But I also ended up being forced to pull (using poison) a lot more then I think DRKs should have...

I thought 1.0 codes were still valid for those who managed to snag copies before they were removed from retail?

Double attack and zerk >>>>>

Just play with good tanks :)

I only ever played thf to be my sub for sam or mnk..I hated that fuckin class too, but when a good one was in the party, it was pretty impressive.

The combination of big Yoshida pieces and Amano pieces pretty much covers my favorite artistry in gaming, it's all so lovely to look at. I still think the in-game renditions aren't done quite as well as XI, it's a bit too shiny and plasticy, but it's still exquisite.

Anyway, really looking forward to this. Will probably be the most earnest play I give an MMO since 2004, I've dabbled plenty since then but I feel compelled to sink into this.

mindblown

SATA... dragon kick?

Nah I never took it that far up..I don't even know wtf I was doin back then.. I just think I didn't like mnk/war. Every class I like sucked and then we just ended up doin a 5smn/1rdmn party with me as the rdm. fun

So if I'm an original PC CE owner who hasn't played since the game was Free Monthly what can I do to start preparing from now? I'm definitely in.

Hope I remember all my old passwords. I remember there being two sets of username and passwords I had to remember.

Are there any options for pre ordering the CE outside of the square-enix store? Really don't want to do that. NA...

As a WHM this always stressed me out but watching the mob's health disappear was always awesome.

THF was cool to have as a partner in crime...ahem. Seriously though, to bring up another member, Pancakesandsx was beast with sneak attack. Throw a trick attack in every so often and I never lost aggro.

if you are jumping in expecting it to be a timesink like FFXI you'll be pretty disappointed. That said, the group play dynamics are totally different this time around, it's also much more accessible, in a way there are contents cater to hardcore and casuals.

Wallpapers!

Wallpapers for ants

Ok, so I'm stupid and just preordered the european version because I followed a link here and didn't realize that GMG is UK based.

What now?

Back in the leveling days it was very annoying going from /war to /thf indeed, that's it until reaching 60 then SATA SS on a DRG or something was great.

Later on when Hasso was introduced, the sub to use was /SAM for everything from merits to endgame stuff. A Berserkered Guillotine with DA kicking in a few times was fantastic, but that didn't beat /SAM overtime, and can't remember the name of the ability that blocked one attack, not as useful as Utsusemi, but good enough to use after a WS.

I believe this hasn't been posted yet, hi-res images of the CE and covers.

I don't get it. Which boxart are getting exactly? There are two, so one for limited edition, and one for the normal edition. But in the limited edition picture, there is a different boxart. Could someone explain this please :I

Edit: Oh shoot. One is EU and the other is US. nvm then.

Pre-Order PS3 CE on Amazon

Jesus!

August is turning to be a brutal fucking month for me so far

Dragon's Crown @ the start of the month with PS3 + Vita versions...
Then FFX|V CE at the end of the month @_@!

I just noticed the North American artwork doesn't indicate that it's an online game... whoops.

Single Player Confirmed for Vanilla!

I bet you they could make shit loads of money if they could get FFXI in a SP format
Knights Round > Shadow Lord, so fucking sweet!

Also FUCK YOU Best Buy for not having CE up, would've saved me $65 in RewardZone funny money to abuse =/
Costing me the CE only $15 LOL!

Anyone have a list of confirmed changes from 1.0 to 2.0?

Was trying to explain what was going to be different from 1.0 to ARR to the GF. Then realised I really didnt know much besides new engine.

Things I think I know or I saw brought up they would like to add or change:
Jumping
Male mithra
Female rogedan*sp
Housing? (Not sure if it made it into 2.0)
Housing having you own garden?
Mail system
Different combat system (still like 1.0 over 2.0. No moving while casting is sadness)
Any new towns/capitals?
Chocobos fight along side you?
Mini pets? Combat or noncombat?
Crafting system overhaul?
Fishing overhaul?

Trying to give you only information they let out through Letter of the Producer / Letter of the Producer Live / Blog posts / Community Rep posts in order to stay within NDA boundaries.

Housing? (Not sure if it made it into 2.0) Yes. At launch, might be tested during Beta 4.
Housing having you own garden? Uncertain. And I don't think so, for now.
Mail system Yes.
Different combat system (still like 1.0 over 2.0. No moving while casting is sadness) Yes. Almost completely new. There are combos and party attacks called "Limit Breaks".
Any new towns/capitals? Not yet. Lots of small towns. Ishgard might be coming, but definitely not at launch.
Chocobos fight along side you? Yes. Called the "buddy" system. They're considering Magitek armors being able to fight by your side, too.
Mini pets? Combat or noncombat? Yes. Called minions. Non combat.
Crafting system overhaul? Yes. Mainly UI, works about the same as 1.23 with a few tweaks, but definitely very user-friendly, convenient and engaging.
Fishing overhaul? Yes. Going to change completely but they haven't shown it yet.
In addition:
- music is almost completely new.
- all maps (but the city-states which have only been altered so that they're easier to navigate) have been completely remade.
- game is now quest-based.
- there are public quests (called Full Active Time Events or FATE).
- Free companies. Basically guilds in other MMOs. There will be some sort of experience or point system and shared housing with FC-related trophies. They were talking about FCs being able to summon the Primals (the real ones, Summoner will only be able to summon their essence).
- levelling instanced dungeons and raids (up to 24 players).
- fanservice, lots of it.
- PvP.
- new class: Arcanist. New job(s): Summoner, Scholar (? Unconfirmed but very likely).
- all-new story, following the events of the original XIV and The 7th Umbral Era.

lovely artworks from yoshida
with possible ps4 version hinted at
will probably sit out the ps3 version now
won't buy the fucking client 3 times

Welp, I took the plunge on the PC CE. Only time will tell if Digital River completely fucks me over like with what happened for Ni No Kuni.
