Patch went up!

Dust: An Elysian Tail 1.02 Patch Notes
----------------------------------------------------------
-Resolved Unusually High CPU Usage During General Gameplay
-Locked Mouse Cursor to Window at Full Screen

Cool thanks for the info. I had to disable automatic updates because of the language issues (the game only want to play in french unless I go and manually rename a file in the folder). I'll update it tonight.

Alright, with the latest patch I can assure you that as long as you have compatible PC which works well enough to open GAF and show this message, performance won't be an issue.
Thanks Noogy!
And fuck you guys who made Bastion.

Noogy's homepage is still broken as hell lol. Looks like the game is back up to #2 now that the weekend deals are over.

Am I missing something? Can't seem to open any chests.

Hi, sorry, this is a known issue that I'll be trying to fix in 1.03. So, basically stuff like opening chests is highly dependent on a solid 60fps. It's a bit wibbly wobbly but I'm going to make it more responsive at lower framerates.

For now you may just have to spam the up button until it works, but I'm hoping to have an update over the next couple days.

Once again, thanks everyone for the massive support :)

Ahh that explains a lot. I didn't have the issue on my desktop, but my laptop's FPS isn't great. Thanks for working on it, the game and this port are fantastic all around.

Dust was able to stay in the top 3 sellers for the entirety of the Memorial Day weekend.

That is pretty impressive, as well as a success.

It's just like my Super metroids! I could do this over and over with ease, I'm gonna try to do a video of it but I have a pretty bad computer.

Hehe there are a few, ahem, issues like this in the game. Admittedly I'm torn about fixing them, because on one hand, I want people to experience the world as it was intended. On the other, I think speedrunning and breaking games is the absolute purest form of adoration one can bestow on the medium.

There remains an issue in the 360 version that somewhat prohibits speedruns which I'm resolving in an upcoming and long-overdue update. As in, I'm not removing the option, I'm making the game more stable to allow for it.

That's very good thinking on your part, I think. The speedrunning community can do wonders for the long term exposure of the game, so making the game more speed-run friendly is a great idea.

Using a 360 controller and I still can't decide on the d-pad or the stick. The d-pad is well, obviously not that great, and it gives me the feeling like i'm going to blister up my thumb after about 20-30min (something no other d-pad used to do, thanks 360) And the stick, I like it but the odd time it will randomly face me in the wrong direction. That can especially be annoying if I get hit because of it. That problem could very well be the thing that happens to all sticks over time, the slight drift to one side after a bit of use.

I for one love finding stuff like this. So long as it doesn't thoroughly actually break the game I love finding little things like this. Combined with the great autosave system I don't have to mash load over and over if I actually got stuck or something. I also like your stance on speedrunning, the entire fiasco with Metroid Prime Pal/NTSC/goty or whatever/JP/Trilogy versions is ridiculous. I'm ridiculously glad to own the first version of MP so I could do the fun tricks with it i found online.

PS: Video! Very minor spoilers (there's a place with snow in it, and a new ability)

Seems like I might be buying this game after I return from my vacation next month. Hmm...

Well, I guess all the media couldn't hurt, as it attracted my attention. Looks... well, interesting. I've been on some chat rooms and they've been talking about this particular game, so... yeah.

By the way, one thing: Steam download size?

1.3GB download size, 1.5GB on disk after decompression

I will be buying the pc version on friday but good news that you are still looking at patching the xbla version, the only problem with that version is the random crashes if you try to speed run the game too fast, otherwise I found no bugs in my many plays :)

I was just about to ask about the chests issue. Some open up no problem then there are others that refuse to open even if I spam the up button.

Thank you for your hard work Noogy!

Ran into an interesting bug. Jump/dash onto a ledge that had wind blowing. Got stuck in an endless loop.... literally. He kept spinning over and over and over in the same spot. Luckily it seems you can break out of it by doing the down+Y airborne attack... nothing else responded.

Yeah, this was exactly what happened to me the one time the game glitched (dashed into a wind tunnel).

Haha, I got that too! In my case, I used the spin attack to break from the animation loop.

Only had a few hours to sink my teeth into this last night (after buying it on Steam Mobile over the weekend, since I was in St. Louis and my PC was not).

I'm liking it so far, although I'm noticing I'm button-mashing more than trying for specific moves (other than to pop into the air occasionally). Mouse & keyboard play works surprisingly well.

Slight annoyance, though. Fidget's attack is on the mouse wheel (Mouse 3), but the graphic highlights the buttons on the side (Mouse 4/5, which I can't even use in the "redefine mouse/keyboard" menu).

Forgot to charge my 360 controller last night. The battery is getting old so it can only keep a charge for a few hours.

It ran out while I was playing and now I have to use M/KB.

The controls are fine but now I have to kind of relearn everything lol.

Awesome game, so glad to have purchased it. Literally only major complaint is the lack of save points in 3-4 parts of the game. While it's as much my fault for not saving as frequently as I ought to, there are definitely a few spots where it's noticeable, and monotonous having to redo five screens with the exact same assets and three enemy types.

edit: But don't let that scare you away! Still an 11/10 for me.

hehe yea I'm not that worried about it. At this point im not trying to go out of my way for it. Sometimes I just get around 400 and i'm like alright what the hell lets see If I can.

good to know tho

thats twice now I got my combo to 988 >.< damn you

While recording that video I posted I got to like 1300 or so, would look at the number, got surprised, then failed.

Then of course it wouldn't count because if you get hit, the combo gets broken.

Did that a couple times actually.

am I the only one that have this issue? it looks really messed up an it happens frequently.

https://vine.co/v/bYWrb5xI2Dx/embed/simple

Hi Shinji, do you happen to have 'Variable Refresh' enabled in your settings? That could cause that weird stuttering on some systems.

I take it this quirk in the quest log isn't out-of-the-ordinary. Seems to affect Fale's quests in particular... goes away when the "Quest Completed" bullet finally appears, although it takes its sweet time to do so.

Hmm, ah, I think I know the problem. I suck at code.

I'll look into that, thanks for the screengrab, that's a big help. FYI I'm hoping to drop 1.03 tonight to fix a couple issues, mainly the 'can't open chests' bug on sub-60fps systems.

I never heard of this game until about two minutes ago and just from watching some game-play, seeing some screenshots, and hearing some of the soundtrack, I want it. The only problem is my instincts are telling me to go for it right now, but my mind is telling me to wait for a steam sale. My funds are kind of limited, so I don't know what to do... want to support the game as much as possible on one hand, want to save a few dollars on another... I feel bad for thinking about the second choice. What to do, what to do...

Noogy I just wanted to say thank you.

A 2d game that works without scaling or black bars or deforming the image on a 4:3 1600x1200 res monitor and that properly works at my 75 hz refresh rate without bugging or trying to force 60 hz mode.
You did what ubisoft couldn't be arsed to with with rayman... (and what a LOT of huge dev studios also can't be bothered doing)

Amazed by the game itself, it's fun to play, has awesome graphics , nice music and the metroid style map is really great too.
Really nice port as well.
One man does what big developers and publishers don't.

Only thing I'm missing is a demo on steam, every game needs a demo.

Just had a marathon of this game for about 10 hours on an off and beat it. I haven't done that much game playing in awhile. 17 hours total playtime. I only need the last 2 friends and 4 star the challenge maps but I have 100% one everything else.

It's a refined version of the 2D action rpg, platformers etc. that we played in the past but without the frustrations. Great job Noogy!
