Forza Motorsport 5 announced

Farrow never jokes.

I see you've already forgotten how he destroyed two copies of Forza 4 and posted them on NeoGAF like a child.
I didn't forget how they were extra copies.
With the stuff posted in the VS thread, any attempts at hiding your true intentions are futile..

As I said, nothing wrong with VS arguments, they are entertaining, but best kept to the proper place, this ain't it.
My intentions? lol

Your, as in any one that posted in that thread?

I thought you where a self confessed GT fanboy, so I didn't think I needed to explicity reference you ;P

I am, and I have no problems saying it, nor did I ever hide it, I don't hate Forza though. Hence the reply to "hiding your true intentions".

I do "hate" some of their fans though...

That makes it justified for some reason?

It makes it funny instead of sad.

please no hate. only car lovers

nice tire detail, nice carbon detail, nice metal detail 8)

The reflections and shadows should not look like that on a next gen console. Period.

Next gen consoles aren't being powered by GTX titans...

And you can clearly see different parts of the car have different reflection resolutions so it's likely a work in progress thing. You can even see the noise in the reflections that you get in real life paint.

Looks great. Graphics won't be a problem in this coming gen.

That said, car games have looked fantastic for a while now, especially on PC. So we're in this strange zone where it's really hard for a car game to impress me because they've looked amazing for so long. It's simply easier to make a car look great than a character look great.

wow I tought that the other thead was the announcement one. Then I looked at the console war.

Now I came here and its even worse. Holy shit.

What i find amusing are the ones who say it looks like crap, at the same time claiming it's CG and not real time. If they're going to troll, can't they at least stick to one story?

Can you name a single person who's actually done that?

It certainly won't be like WiiU, nothing against that system. But nothing they showed at the reveal looked great. Forza 5 looked good, but it looked like 4. And was it even real? But my point was, if Sony's games look a lot better, it may hurt Xbox One.

Lol at stoffinator.
Yeah some people are getting a bit silly now.

I'm going with 650, maybe 700.
Depends on the quality of the cars (which we dont know yet).
If they are forza 4 autovista quality, then that means that up to/including forza 4 they had ready how many? 30?
30 to 650 is a big increase.
If they are not autovista quality, then just take forza 4 + dlc carlist, add maybe 50 or 100 more.

Wait, are these shots of the game really actually legit? I'm as hopeful as the next guy, but some of this looks a little bit too good to be real game footage.

Didn't realise people had no sense of humour in here :(

Honestly, I'm guessing probably 7-800. Storage obviously not an issue anymore, a good number of cars have models that are perfectly serviceable on a next-gen console (we've seen how good most of them look in a modded GTA4 on PC) and there'll probably be 100 or so at least (I hope) brand-spankers.

Despite not having seen that much of it, does anyone get the impression that this one might take a similar stance to PGR3 (apols for bringing it up, but it's the only game I could think of with which to compare) and use mostly higher-end cars, forsaking the more consumer-level bottom-tier ones? I may be taking a little *too* much from the trailer, but it just kinda feels like that's the direction the game will take, I guess.

I can't wait to see an actual race being played. I also hope T10 finally utilizes my sub better this time around. I'm disliking several things about XB1, but fuck... I love me some Forza.

I'm pretty impressed by the textures (especially on the road) and lighting. Would be interesting if they can achieve anything remotely close to that during gameplay.

right above your post there's a video link for forza 3 promo video.
now, if you have forza 3, and you look at this, you understand that that video is forza 3 assets, just rendered in a way more powerful machine than 360.

I guess something in the same lines is that forza 5 video. all in-game assets, but rendered on superior hardware. could be worse or could be better, but thats my bet.

I believe we will see realtime ingame stuff at e3, mainly because ms is actively pushing forza to push xbone, and less because t10 is done with the game and ready to showcase. but whatever the reason, it will be very interesting.

Not expecting as many cars as FM4 had with all its DLC, as i am hoping they are going to spend some time going over and redoing the old models. Some of the cars such as the Ferrari F50 looks quite out of date now (look at the engine).

Still, as a Sim it needs to have a hefty amount of cars, especially if it wants to compete with other IPs. I am expecting around 500-600 on launch, and then more to come via DLC/Cloud.

if we suppose that this is from photomode and not from autovista, that means that old cars cannot be simply ported.

maybe Helios or somebody else can throw us a tip here.. is the pic work in progress from photomode or autovista? hmm on second guess, probably autovista..

I've never understood the want for so many cars. More tracks is what people should be screaming for.

That's probably an autovista model placed on a track.
T10 did it with FM4 too.

Forza 4's cover looks bad to you because you bought the wrong version, cheap ass.

I did do a lol at that.

I bought the FM4 LE because of that shitty 458 cover, which might have been their clever intention in the first place. There certainly wasn't any other reason to buy it. Worst value EVER.

Here's hoping the inevitable FM5 LE actually has some proper value to it above and beyond a little crown next to your name.

Edit: I did find a use for the Top Gear sticker, though:

yes you are right. so I guess, until we see something runtime @e3, no need to over-analyze anything :)

analyzing the trailer:

pretty sure, it's more or less what you can expect from fm5 replays in terms of fidelity.

both cars are lod0. There's just 2 cars here, but hoping lod0 models are used for all cars on the track.

I'm now sure it uses global illumination and dynamic shadows for cars and tracks.
This should mean day-night cycles for all tracks.
The light fog you see in the distance...i'm sure it's not always foggy in FM5's Prague...
Holy shit, the smoke still sucks :P They need to work on that.

I just watched the FM5 trailer (again) with muted sound while listening to the Deus Ex: Human Revolution main theme. It was biblical!

I'm really hyped for FM5 and I just can't wait 'til E3. I need to see more and more important, I need to play this asap!

So any bets on the car count?

I'm betting on 850-950 cars.
Forza 4 had close to 700 cars including DLCs. Despite having redundancy, Forza Horizon still had a good chuck of new-to-Forza cars including in DLC (about 40), although I don't think we'll see convertible version making an appearance in a mainline Forza game.
There are still some missing manufacturers : Chaparral, Ariel, Catheram, Rolls Royce, Sköda, Jensen etc...
Some manufacturers are severely lacking in car selection too like all the French manufacturers, Aussies even UK ones...

The more important question is : any bets on track count?

FM4 had :
Forza Central said:
24 Environments with 28 Locations and a total of 132 Layouts(including Day-One DLC)

I'm betting on something like 30 environments with 35 locations and 150+ layouts.

Bathurst, Spa, Interlagos, Dijon-Prennois, Circuit of the Americas, etc... So many great tracks that could be added to FM.

My most wanted ones for FM5 are definitely Spahurst and revamped Nordschleife though...

Really? I think the F4 LE was well worth the money.

"Worst value EVER"

There are many other LEs that are MUCH worse in value.

This trailer doesn't look very good and it is CG as well. The EA sports trailer at the One event also looked like crap CG.

It was a mix of in-engine(running on a dev kit), quite a bit of editing, and a couple, pre-rendered cuts. But definitely not indicative of the final result. That's the one thing I hate most about the racing genre in general. Advertisements always show something that looks better than the final result because it's never gameplay footage(outside of carefully selected replays). I can bet we won't be able to access the type of camera cuts that were seen in the Forza 5 trailer.

Since FM2 was announced, Bathurst and Spa have, by far, been the most requested tracks to be added.

It's gotten to the point where I believe T10 couldn't give to shits about what it's community want and simply do their own thing to avoid as much work and effort as possible...

Well, very close shots rotating around the car, looks like your typical Forza Cam (patented since 2005)... :D

Horizon was like the ultimate trolling in the replay department for Forza fans...

It makes me sad that all the beautiful work on car and track modeling goes to waste on sorry replay camera angles.

Forza 4 improved on this, but hardly enough.

They even talked a bit about being able to place the camera anywhere for the big new video editing function and when it came out all we got were some crappy angles and being able to upload a 30 second recording :(

I originally wasn't going to purchase the LE for Forza4, but I couldn't resist. I didn't want to have to haggle around for all the extra packs. Although, I will agree, the LE itself was NOT worth it feature wise. Shit, if VIPs were the only users able to trade/sell unicorns, THAT would have been worth the price of admission.
